Goodbye (and a giveaway!)

Saturday, September 21, 2013

Hi friends,

I don't know how to do this. I've been fashion blogging for 4 1/2 years. How do you end it? Do you peel the band-aid off slowly or do you rip it off? I feel like I've been pulling it off slowly for the past year or so.. And it's time to rip it off. And it hurts. I'm sad that this journey has to end, but I think we all know it's time. Now that Grey is mobile and getting into every.single.thing (wires! cat food! the cat! shoes!) and I'll be working full-time soon, it's become too much on my plate.

I started this blog in 2009 when Chase and I had only been married for a year. We were both going to school. We both had part-time minimum-wage jobs and student loans to boot. I was sick and tired of wearing the same old things every day and I created this blog to help me be more creative with what I already had. I'm so proud of this journey of self-discovery I went through. I've learned so much about myself, others, blogging, modesty, and fashion. I feel this part of my life has been completed and I'm ready to start a new chapter...being Grey's mom.

I have so many people to thank over the years. I have so many people I still need to meet in real life. (...every single one of you.) Thank you. I love you all.

I'm not much for words, and I wanted to show my appreciation for you guys and am giving away four(!!!) $25 gift cards of your choice. Just follow me and/or any of my lovely contributors (couldn't have done it for this long without my ladies xo).

Good luck! and see you around.

  1. Elaine, are you serious?! :(
As I've mentioned earlier, yours was the first fashion blog I chanced upon and ever since I've been hooked on to the world of fashion blogging! So much so, that I've developed my own fashion blog :) (although I'm a lawyer working with a law firm). I shall miss clothedmuch! But I do understand your need to do justice to your other roles in life. All the best.

    Cheers!

  2. I'm sad but I also don't blame you! My blog is slowly dying (I'm going with the slow band-aid approach, apparently) and I totally get it. Best of luck!! And I'm glad you'll still be on Twitter and IG :)

  17. Ah Elaine, I am so sad. Your blog was the very first fashion blog I ever stumbled across and I was delighted to find out you were Mormon, and then to find out you were Korean! :)

Anyway, you know I'll be stalking your other social media accounts :)

  18. So sad to see this blog go! Yours was one of my very first fashion blogs to follow and I will surely miss it. I know you will enjoy the extra time with your little guy though, so best of luck to you!

  19. I am so sad to see you go. I've been reading for over a year, and I just love coming upon your little tidbits and all your spunk. On many occasions coming here has brightened my day. I'll definitely keep up with your personal blog, an maybe even leave a comment or two :D

  20. Your fashion blog was one of my original favorites. I just went back and looked at some of the old posts to remember when I started following you. I graduated from the U too, and when you used to take pictures on campus near the architecture building it always gave me such good feelings of nostalgia for my college days!! I think Grey is a worthy reason to have to move on, but I'll miss your cute outfit ideas!

  21. I'm sad, but I have to say I always read your blog more for your intelligence and sense of humour than your style. Your personal blog has that in spades, so I hope to hear many more updates about Grey and your life :) Take care!

  23. Sad to see you go, Elaine, but totally understand. Blogging can be time consuming.
It was fun while it lasted-but all good things must come to an end.

  30. You'll def be missed. This blog was a source of cool inspiration--even to me, a non-Mormon. I am happy you'll keep your personal blog, though, as Grey's antics seem like they'll get more and more enjoyable for us readers ;). Have a great time offline, many blessings, and a great week. Later!! XO.

  39. Awwww I'm so sad that you're ending your blog, but at the same time, I could kind of see this coming and I'm glad that you aren't just dragging your blog on when your heart isn't really into it anymore. I know that my blog has an expiration date and I hope that when I reach it (which will probably be sooner rather than later), I'll recognize it and bow out gracefully like you instead of just letting it die a slow and painful death. And of course I'll continue to follow you on your other social channels, because how else will I be able to see all your super cute Grey pictures? :)

  44. There are about 10 blogs that I stalk every single day. This was one of the 10. I guess I'll get a little more work done now that I will have one less blog to stalk, but just know it won't be easy. I've loved your blog, your hilarious-self, and all your great fashion tips. Have fun being a full-time mom, it's the best job anyway!

  47. Bye! The son really does look like you AND Chase... will miss your irreverent sense of humor... "Where have all the good fashion bloggers gone? Long time passing... Where have all the good fashion bloggers gone? ...pulled away by kids and jobs, every one... long time ago.." (to be sung to "where have all the flowers gone.".. with apologies to real musicians and to serious song writers)

  48. Wow! It actually pains my heart to read this, Elaine! Your style blog was so influential in my life when I was trying to figure out how to dress modestly (without sacrificing my personal style). You helped me realize that it is possible to be faithful, modest AND fashionable -- those aren't mutually exclusive adjectives. You also inspired me to start my own blog. I applaud you for making your family a greater priority, but, boy, I sure will miss you. Thank you for your incredible work.

    Love,
