6 Months

Wednesday, July 31, 2013
Today this boy turned 6 months old. Excuse me while I become one of those cliche moms.. "Where did all that time go! He's growing up so fast! Where's the newborn we came home from the hospital with! Someone stop time!" Just had to get all those out of my system...for now.

Cardigan: Express via thredUP - $3 (similar) | Tank top: Joe Fresh via thredUP - $1 (similar) | Necklace: Excess Baggage - $22 (original) | Jeans: skinnied Levi's - $70 | Sandals: Walmart - $10 (similar) | Total = $106

This transition into becoming a mom wasn't and still isn't easy for me. I feel like some people have that natural maternal instinct, and I honestly never knew if I did. I mean, I knew I'd eventually have kids. I just thought I'd figure it out then.. Well, that "then" is now and I still don't know what I'm doing.

What I do know is that since this boy has come into our lives, he's brought us so much joy! (CLICHE ALERT) Don't get me wrong, he's also really annoying. But cute. And annoying. And chunky.

Isn't this onesie the cutest? My mother-in-law made it for Chase when he was Grey's size. It got passed down to my nephew and now to Grey. Also, I don't care what anybody says.. BABY SHOES ARE SOOOOO CUTE!!!! and useless. BUT CUTE!!!!

Oh, you want to know more about my baby? Take a seat!!!!
  • He loveslovesloves attention. Which is THE BEST since I've been working from home. He just wants someone to look at him, talk to him, entertain him, and make him laugh 24/7. Any takers? You'll be paid in spit-up and drool.
  • He loves to be held and is a snugglebunny.
  • He loves to kick me in the stomach, specifically my C-section scar and I love it so much.
  • He has fat sausage feet like his mama.
  • He has two bottom teeth.
  • He's a droolyface.
  • He loves to suck and chew on his fingers sometimes all at once.
  • He's rolled over ONE TIME and we never saw it so we're not even sure if it actually happened or if our apartment is haunted.
  • He loves to scoot on his tummy and push his feet off our hands.
  • He can sit up longer than 10 seconds!
  • He loves to laugh!! He'll laugh if you put his feet on his cheeks and smush his face together. He laughs when you play peek-a-boo with him. He'll laugh when you laugh. A lot of fake, cackly laughs over here...
  • He loves to play pat-a-cake.
  • It takes him a bit to warm up to strangers. He needs to get familiarized with you first before we hand him off to people. He already seems to know who all our family is though!
  • He has the cuuuutest pouty face. Sometimes I try to scare him to see it. He's onto me.
  • He also has the cutest open-mouth stare. You can kinda see it in the pictures above.
  • He wears 12-18mo. clothes and is 24 pounds! Been the same for a month and a half..

Happy 6 months, baby boy! We love you...until you start crying again, and then your daddy loves you more.

  1. Cannot believe its been six months since you announced your baby on your personal blog! He's the cutest baby, ever. Happy half birthday to Grey!!!

  2. i love grey and i don't even know him. the best ham hocker thighs!

  3. Thank you so so much for such a honest/realistic comment on mothering. We're expecting soon and it terrifies me that I'm not "super gaga, my life finally has meaning, everything is peachy and perfect" about the changes. Of course I'm excited but who wants to deal with drool and poopy diapers??! It's cool to hear the truth!

    1. congratulations!!!!! that is so exciting!!!
i was the same way - some people say being a mother was what they meant to do, that it's the best job in the world, etc. but i'm like there's more to life/being a woman than being a mother.. idk..
also, i felt guilty for MONTHS bc i wasn't "gaga" over my baby but i've slowly fallen in love with him. i hated this common concept that as mothers we had to love our babies at first sight but it wasn't like that for me and probably for others too. becoming a mother is a difficult transition for some and we shouldn't feel guilty about it.

    2. I agree, I just love your honesty and can relate a lot to what you said….I don't have kids yet but the time is coming soon and I know I'll have the same feelings :)

  4. I'm obsessed with this chunky baby of yours. He is so adorable! And you look fabulous.

  5. Ummmmm, he is all kinds of crazy crazy cute, and girl, you make being a momma look way too easy! Congrats on 6-month baby Grey!

  6. He is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!

Sometimes I say "no" to my one year old to see her pout. Kids are fun! (and I'm kind of evil).

  7. Those thunder thighs oh my heavens I could eat him up! reminds me of my little chunky monkey..I love that you are transparent with your motherhood journey. So many times I hear Mom's glaming up motherhood! The fact is it is the biggest transition of your life and it is TOUGH! I don't care what anybody says, every Mom has had those moments where you didn't think you could do it. But by God's grace he will give us our daily strength that we lack on our own. I just started following your blog and would love for you to follow me on my Mom style blog. Let's be friends and we can talk about all the gooshie things we love about our babies! p.s you look uh-mazing!

  8. he's adorable. and those legs will never let him down. :)

  9. Awww! What a cutie! I can't believe he's already 6 months! Seems like last week you announced you were pregnant!

I do have to say, he looks so big with your petite frame holding him! He's going to be a big boy-obvisouly very handsome too ;)!
