So about a year ago I mentioned I wanted to cut my hair...and I finally did it. My long hair with the dead ends and flat roots needed a trim and a new perm. I've been procrastinating for so long because my hair hadn't been that long since EVER. I wanted to revel in it for as long as I could.
When I told the stylist I wanted a little trim, she ended up cutting off like 6". The length ended right at the top of my boobs. :(:(:( No more long hair for me. I thought, "Fine. Whatever. It's just hair." So I went home with my newly permed medium-length hair. But, I couldn't stop thinking about it. I was obsessed. I would cry every time I looked in the mirror!! Finally, I went back to her and asked for more layers. Went home a little happier but still not satisfied. It just wasn't what I expected. I wanted the same hair style just with a quick touch-up. I didn't plan on this drastic change and it just totally bummed me out the whole day.
So I did what any other girl would do... I asked my husband to cut my hair to my shoulders. By this time it was late into the night and I was crazy/desperate...more crazy. It took me a few days to get used to it, but I love it now! I forgot how light it was to have shorter hair again. My hair hasn't been this short since 2009!! It makes me a little sad it took me 4 years to grow my hair out.. Here's to another 4!

Your new hair is super cute. I just did a similar thing last month. I cut 8 inches off of my hair and it was so refreshing. You look adorable as always and I can tell you from a mom's perspective, you will LOVE the shorter hair with a bebe!

ReplyDeleteLove the haircut and the curls! Gorgeous! I go through cycles of growing out my hair and then chopping it off...sometimes I shock myself (and my husband) but then we all get used to it and by then it's usually time to change it again! Part of the fun of being a girl :)

While I do love my long hair, your's looks fabulous! I've never been able to bring myself to chop much of my hair off, although lately it's been scgraggely on the ends so I've chopped a couple inches off.

ReplyDeleteI love it! It looks great on you! I cut 12 inches off mine last year. I'm 41 and this has been my pattern for the last 20 years. I grow it out, I cut it off. It really is just hair. I also cut my hair about your length around the time that both my kids were born. It just seemed easier.
