19 Weeks: 'Cause I'm a Scorpio

Tuesday, October 09, 2012
I won this vintage scorpion necklace a couple months ago from a giveaway and wanted to show you guys. It's not my typical style, which is why I chose it. I've been trying to be more adventurous with my style lately and think outside of the box. I figured jewelry was a safe place to start. But, problem:  I haven't been wearing a lot (err... any) jewelry lately. What else could I wear with this? I would love your help!! It's too pretty and unique to be gathering dust in my jewelry box.

Also, I look a little mad here because I can't believe I thought rolling the elastic waistband of my pants would make the outfit look better. Just....no. I'm just going to have to wear these pants drop-crotch style during this pregnancy being the cheapskate that I am. (NOT buying maternity pants!!!)

vintage scorpion necklace (similar); Shade Clothing maternity tee, $8; Forever 21 pants, $14 (similar in linen); Target high heel sandals, $8 (similar)

  1. Aw you look cute! You can always get those add on maternity stretch things for your regular jeans. I heard those work well.

  2. That necklace is gorgeous! It'd look great with burnt orange, mustard yellow, lemon yellow, hot pink, teal, white, chartreuse, navy blue aaaand deep purple. That enough colour suggestions for you, lol? ;)

If you want to add a bit of versatility to it though, then you could add some stretchy elastic/ ribbon pieces to the ends of the necklace & transform it into a belt/ headband/ bracelet? =]

  5. I think that necklace would look amazing paired with a bold red and a minty color. More of a spring outfit, but still cute! (Maybe bold red top, mint colored pants?)

  6. You're missing out! A pair of well fitting maternity skinnies will be a thousand times more comfortable and more flattering than any other non-maternity, size up, belly banded pants you'll wear.

  7. Have you tried those Belly Band things? I never used them, but I heard they are great!

  9. You look great, but I have to agree with Thais that maternity pants are pretty great. I started wearing them 5 months in and debated wearing them the rest of my life! :)

  11. But considering how much I feel like my thighs blew up, I don't know if I want to show them in skinnies!!

  12. Girlie I have 44 inch hips and I'm wearing my maternity skinnies! And no I'm not overweight just hippy. My top is still a small. You have nothing to worry about. I tried on several and by far the H&M slim mama stuff is the most comfy. I'd stay away from the demi bands bc they get uncomfortable around week 30-32 depending on your belly. I'd invest in some full panel ones. Embrace the belly you'll be much happier if you do and remember your body will return to normal eventually. I've been having to remind myself of that a lot lately now that I'm 33 weeks and walking seems like a marathon, but then again I live in NY. lol But really garments will be your worse enemy in the long run... oh man don't get me started on the discomfort of garments!

  13. Elaine, you are looking gooood. Can't even tell you are pregnant! And I am totally with you on saying N-O to maternity pants.

  14. haha. if you hadn't of told us about the pants i bet we wouldnt have noticed anything. actually to tell you the truth we're about to feature some maternity style and we think loose fitting tops are rather nice. oh and we would go very kate lanphear with the necklace. meaning throw on a couple more bold pieces and keep the rest of the outfit more basic but cool (think black skinnies, white loose t, black longer cut blazer, edgy shoes). but really, you look great as is!
