When I was in
Utah last month, I had the pleasure of meeting
Reachel from Cardigan Empire and she graced us with a wonderful presentation on
Color Theory. I am
totally fascinated by this - mostly because I had no idea before. I've downloaded one of her color images on my phone to have with me when I go shopping. That's how amazing it is. Srsly.
Here is a great place to start:
From this graph, I found out I am
Cool & Brilliant, namely a Deep Winter. I look best in bright colors and black, gray, and white (My faves!). I always hated browns and tans and now I know why... They look horrible on me and my complexion. Reachel mentioned that even though these graphs show what colors we look best/worst in, it doesn't mean we should solely stick to/avoid those colors. The "best" colors should be worn closest to your face. You can wear other colors in accessories or bottoms, just avoid pairing "other" colors around your facial area where the contrast is harshest.
I
highly recommend you guys check out Reachel's
Color Theory and find out what season you are! Let me know in the comments below! It's amazing how different we all are. She used two blonde-haired blue-eyed women as examples and they were totally different in season.
This is very cool. I'm "cool & brilliant"--never thought of that before! thanks for sharing, girl!
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that the color I think I look my absolute best in is black? haha, aka, no color at all!

I'm a deep winter too! Olive skin, dark brown hair, dark brown eyes... and yes, the above best and worst colors are spot-on!
ReplyDeleteSo glad it was useful to you!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Cool & Brilliant Deep Winter. So crazy! There are lots of subtle differences.
ReplyDeleteWe're season twins! :) Forgot to include "Cool and Brilliant" above.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean it's acceptable to tell people we're "cool and brilliant"? :P
This is so amazing! I found out I'm a Winter, and then by the descriptions of eyes, skin etc I was thinking "I'm probably a Deep Winter", then I saw the links at the bottom comparing the three different winters, and I am for sure a Deep Winter (only Winter type with dark eyes & hair). This is SO HELPFUL. I agree 100% with it, since I really don't look good in earthy colours. I get many more compliments in bright, rich colours. I'm definitely printing out my good and bad colours and putting it in my wallet! I've been shopping slowly for a "Starter Career Wardrobe" and I was sticking to black, grey and white because picking colours was getting crazy. Now I have a guide! THANKS! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm the exact same way! There are just some colours you know you can't do :P
ReplyDeleteI'm a Light Summer (cool & delicate)! :) This was so cool!
ReplyDeleteWhat a FANTATIC guide! I need this. I think I'm definitely more of a Lucy Liu.

I pinned that chart a couple weeks ago. I, too, am a winter. - Leah
