I've been wanting a new wedding ring for a while. Not that I don't like my current one now, but sometimes I just want something simple so I'll just wear my band, but then Chase gets upset and reminds me how much money the engagement ring cost and I start feeling guilty and wear them both again. I've been looking at cheap options and finally got Chase to give me a price range and he said $35 because that's how much his wedding band cost. (Thank you, ebay!) So I've been looking around Etsy to see what my options are and picked a few out that I liked.
Chase and I are leaning towards the flat diamond silver ring and then maybe getting this $9 thin gold band to wear with it. I like the stone rings but I have no preference in stones and it would take me ages to pick one out. I do like the topaz one because the faceted stone is smoothed into the band but I'm not sure if I'm a size 7...or if I want topaz.
What are your thoughts? Do you like the idea of getting a new wedding ring?

great post! funny you should say that. when my husband and i were planning our honeymoon, he informed me that i wasn't allowed to take my wedding or engagement rings (something about my losing them in the ocean, really expensive, blah blah blah) which made me pretty upset, so i said fine, i'll need a replacement to wear (because, my argument, who goes on their honeymoon without a ring?). so for a bride gift the morning of the wedding, i got this bad boy

(except he had her make it all the way around and in white gold) and i absolutely love it. it's simple, beautiful and has just the right amount of sparkle for when i don't want to wear so much bling :)

exactly!! i never take my ring when we go on adventurous vacations like our recent Philippines trip so this would be a great alternative.
ReplyDeleteI love that idea. I saw these a while ago and loved the idea of having my husband's name on it. http://namesring.com/products/initial-name-ring-handwriting-font-sterling-silver
ReplyDeleteI think having an alternate is a good idea for traveling, or swollen-finger-days. I would first try visiting a flea market or little Tibetan store, as you'll find sterling silver (w/ or w/out stones) from $10-25!
ReplyDeleteactually that's a good idea.... thanks!
ReplyDeletethank you for this! I love this kind of thing.

thanks! that looked like an amazing trip! (if i could be knocked out for the entire flight) i'd love to go there one day
ReplyDeleteI will probably get a new engagement ring at some point. I had that one first (obvi), and when it came time to find a wedding band, I couldn't find one I liked that really "matched" the engagement ring. So I just got the one I like and said to hell with matching. But I feel like they're kind of competing for attention on my finger (I think they fight with each other when I'm not looking). So I might like a simpler engagement ring sometime! I really like these Etsy ones. Looking forward to seeing what you pick!

I love this idea. I've been thinking about doing the same for a long time. There's something about a simple wedding band that I've always thought is really ladylike.
ReplyDeleteagreed!
ReplyDeleteThere are also wooden rings, but they tend to be from $80 and up. Examples would be : http://www.etsy.com/shop/stoutwoodworks?order=price_asc&page=1
ReplyDeleteGoodness...they're all pretty. Really...whatever you choose, I think you're not going wrong ;) but...I do love that gold topaz ring. but if the size isn't right you better not risk it! I like your first idea as well! Don't you hate making these types of decisions?? Just get what you love!!

i'm SO GLAD you posted this! i've been wanting a "work ring" for awhile (i work in medicine) so changing gloves/constant washing/hand sanitizing makes me sad for my ring. thanks!!! these are gorgeous and so affordable!!
ReplyDeletei buy vintage rings at thrift stores whenever i see a good deal ($5-$10) so i can mix and match whenever i feel like it/need to (I'd never take mine on a crazy vacation either). plus, i now have various sizes because my fingers got bigger during my last pregnancy and i needed more wiggle room. i loooove buying rings!
ReplyDeleteReally this is very amazing and pretty collection, anyone can choose these rings for themselves in first look. This ring is very thin and stylish too.
ReplyDeleteRings are really just symbols for the rest of the world - you took your vows, you know you're married, so you can wear as much or as little as you want! If you want to wear a different ring every day of the week, that's cool! I know a lot of married people who don't even wear rings - they don't like jewellery, or they work with their hands a lot, or it's not part of their culture, whatever. They're still married :) So have some fun with it!
ReplyDeleteI tried to pick out a band to alternate with my original set but couldn't do it! I did buy a cheapy set ($8) to wear to Mexico last fall.
ReplyDeleteI have a plain wedding band, and I purposely didn't get my rings sautered (spelling?) together so I could wear just my plain band sometimes. But when I do wear it w/out my fat rock, I like to layer it w/ other simple bands. Guess I don't really do simple after all.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a really cute idea! Some of the design look cuter than the diamond ring! :D

I really love this, I'm not one for flashy diamonds and chunky rings. I love the simply beauty of this.

So true! I believe that wedding rings are a symbol of love. And love still exists without the rings.
ReplyDeleteI like those rings! I'm not into jewelry, and while I usually wear my wedding band, I never even got an engagement ring, so I've also been on the lookout for something very simple I can wear with it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I and my wife doesn't even get married yet and don't have engagement ring but as long as you love each other, any rings should be okay.
