refashioned JCPenney necklace (similar in colorblock coral); DownEast Basics jumpsuit; MNG by Mango bag; Target clog sandals (similar)
Just realized as I was typing out the outfit details that it was all $0!! Two were bought with a gift card (necklace and bag), one was a present (shoes), and the jumpsuit was a giveaway win from Totally Tessa. (You gotta check out her blog. Cutest girl ev-er.)
So, the jumpsuit... I don't think I'll be wearing this any time soon again. Even with the slightest tummy showing right now, the jumpsuit was tight. Also, it has ruffles. Does anyone know how I can remove it without destroying it completely?? Do you think a tailor would be able to do it? I mean, I like ruffles just as much as the next 5 year-old girl. Okay, that's a lie. I don't really like ruffles...unless it's on someone cuter than me.
Score for free outfits!

You are wearing a romper. AND ROCKING IT!
ReplyDeleteWait, WHY don't you like it?! It looks so adorable on you! I love it...and you barely notice the ruffles. On another note...girl, you are GLOWING. You look great! Being preggers definitely agrees with you!

oh i love rompers. in the past i have just cut ruffles off...i mean trimmed them so they are about a mm long. easiest solution for me and it's looks sort of like a pintuck on a print.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw this I couldn't believe my eyes, I just got this exact romper! Today I was just thinking that I would actually never wear it because I wasn't sure if it looked good, but on you it looks great so I am now inspired to wear it! YAY! I'm not a seamstress by any means, but the ruffles do look scary to take off, you could seam rip it and resew the seams back together after you took out the ruffles....if that even makes any sense....
ReplyDeleteyeah i was thinking that too... idk, i'm too scared to do it!! i think i'll just take it to a tailor. i'm such a wuss!
ReplyDeletethis is so cool

You look so cute! Rompers are tricky but you totally pulled it off. So lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnd I was just going to comment on how cute you look and well you are pulling off that romper! I like ruffles and I think they look great on you!
ReplyDeleteThat's a shame because I think it is just the cutest on you ever. I can't wait to see more of that little baby bump. I went and read your other post on finding out you were pregnant before and it is such a cute story. I have three kids, but my youngest is going into kindergarten next week. It is insane how much and how fast that they grow. Enjoy this time.
ReplyDeleteOk Elaine,
ReplyDeleteLooking at the product on the website I think you could do a few things to this to make it less 'five year old-y':
1. Cut the ruffles off the button placket. I'm assuming that's where they're attached. If you cut close enough you shouldn't have to hem anything.
2. Wear the top open like the model in the picture. You could wear a cool contrasting color tank to make it more casual, unbuttoned look.
3. Make the pant legs shorter. You could do this by either rolling/pushing them up, or if that looks funny, then taking out the elastic, folding it up, and hand-stitching it into place. You're my height, and I make all my loose pants shorter so they don't make ME look shorter. Think capri length.
4. Always wear heels, but you did well in this outfit!
I think it's adorable just the way it is! You look so good Elaine! I'm so happy for you!
ReplyDeleteI love the print on that romper! I recently took some ruffles off a dress (which were in about the same spot as on your romper) and simply cut them off really close to the seam. It's hardly noticable! If the leftover seam bothers you, I'm sure you could take it to a tailor and they could fix it up right...I'm just lazy and cheap! :-)
