Found: The Perfect Diaper Bag

Wednesday, August 15, 2012
Right after I found out I was pregnant, the first thing I started shopping for was a diaper bag. Not baby clothes (Don't know the sex yet so why?!?) or maternity clothes (Another story entirely..). I looked around Amazon and a couple weeks later, Chase was on there too and saw the ones I looked at previously and he instantly shot them down. "They look like purses. I'm not carrying a purse." I had initially thought I wanted a diaper bag/purse until Chase reminded me that he also needed to carry this bag too. (What a baby!!) Long story short, I saw this unisex diaper bag featured on The Beso Blog the other day and fell in love. Chase even gave his stamp of approval! Now if only they were $170 cheaper.....

What do you think? Are you a fan? More importantly, who wants to get it for us?? 엄마? 아빠??

  3. try Target... but you might want the $$$ one so that the handle does not break and you will be traveling with the bag because the grandparentals will need to see the baby ASAP.

  4. That is a great looking bag. I don't even have kids but I would carry it as a weekender (if it were $175 cheaper). Maybe you can find a used one? It looks machine washable, so who cares if it's new.

  5. I love this blog! I'm a "Mormon" in the Paradise Valley Stake (Phoenix, AZ) and my neighbor just had a baby. How fortuitous (spelling?)!!!

  6. I think it looks amazing. I carry around a ginormous bag with room for a ton of junk and I've only ever wished it was bigger and had even more storage. (But maybe that's only because I have three babies?) What Christian and I have done is that he has his own bag, a backpack he got at Target that he fills with diapers and snacks and whatever. That way my bag can be as pretty as I like. None of the stuff we carry around is unique (we have two of everything anyway), so we don't have to switch anything from bag to bag. Good luck in your search!

  7. I think it looks a bit bulky, but that's just my opinion. We use a Mountainsmith bag and I don't think I can ever go back... which my husband greatly appreciates.

  8. As long as it's not Petunia Picklebottom, I approve! We have a Timbuk2 Cargo Tote that is magical with lots of pockets. Jeff just said yesterday, "this would make a great diaper bag. That's code for: don't buy anymore bags." Apparently I have a bag-buying problem.

  9. It seems a little big and bulky. That's just my opinion though! I know you'll have to carry around a lot of stuff for baby, but you can probably find something that isn't so big and bulky and still fits everything you need.

  10. My only advice for you is do not SETTLE! I got a diaper bag early on and I loved carrying it around as a purse, but then, as baby came and grew month to month the amount I had to carry also grew. I had to buy a new diaper bag, a bigger one. Do no put yourself through that.

  11. I had a purse and when we were all together it was either in the stroller or cart. If my husband took my daughter alone which was rare he had his own diaper bag for her. That is a very cute bag though!

  12. You could always find a cute purse bag for you and then a more unisex bag for him :-) I really like that bag, btw :-)

  13. That's cute! It looks really wide on top though, but im sure it'll be fine.

I was super excited to pick out a diaper bag when I got pregnant the first time around, but then a relative brought a coach diaper bag from hong kong for me. I didn't want to be all snooty and say, "ugh, don't want coach" and I couldn't return/exchange it, so I've been using it for the past few years. Now that I have my second, I've told my husband I'm going to pick out a new diaper bag when we go up to the Kate spade outlet.

Oh and I would get something you really like as opposed to something you think will be ok for chase to use. Really, how often is he going to be out with the baby by himself without you? I make my husband carry my purse-like bag when we're out together and it's no big deal. When he goes out without me, he'll just transfer the contents over to his own man-bag. And that rarely happens.

  14. I went through this process with my boyfriend over a year ago, trying to find something neutral for HIM. Well, we came across a Mickey Mouse diaper bag which
he finally approved because he's a "Disney World" fan and it was grey (there goes his "Neutral..."), AND that I approved because of the price: ($10.00 +/-). Of course If only I had known... it came with magnetic snaps instead of a zipper and a year later it's still annoying me.. so, that's my advice, Zipper a MUST. :) .. Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Did I already know you're pregnant?? I have major baby brain (you'll see...) and haven't read a blog all year! I love any excuse for buying new bags, so we have 3 "diaper bags" (which are just regular totes or bags I found with big pockets). I ended up not really carrying any of them because I was tired of schleping a baby and a bag. My husband bought a tech-gear bag that has enough pockets for bottles, diapers, etc and he carried it around for me. Isn't that what dads are good for?

  16. You're in LA - need to definitely check out the LA sample sale on the last Friday of the month at Cal Plaza - I always forget which floor but I think it's ... 9? I got a great Storksak bag there that was a sample and only $40 bucks, you can also find ones for $10! What a steal!

  18. The only thing to remember when choosing a diaper bag is bigger is always better. Mine was this one :

Not too expensive, it's huge and when you're done it makes a cute beach bag or carryall tote !

  20. This is about $50 cheaper (and you can get more off if you sign up for their emails), and it has stripes:

I think it's a pretty cool unisex option- I could definitely see you toting it around.

  22. i wanted a diaper bag purse too, but husband shot that down too, telling me he didn't want to carry a purse... well, as it turns out, husband has only carried the diaper bad a couple times... like, literally one or two times (and usually for like 2 minutes max, as he makes his way to the changing station at church). so i eventually just started using my bigger purses (they worked fine), and then got a new fancy purse like diaper bag. and, i have learned that you really dont need to carry baby's whole closet and like 20 diapers around with you (unless you have about 3 kids... then you might)! =)

  23. I never got it why you need a diaperbag. Tehy all look really aweful and are expensive as well. I never had one for my two kids. Just pack two diapers and tissues in your bag and your done...!
