scarf from T (similar); Shade Clothing t-shirt (similar); thrifted vintage Eddie Bauer maxi skirt, $3; Walmart sandals, $10 (similar)
My maxi skirt is another thrift purchase from the Memorial Day extravaganzas. It was a big skirt and I just took it in on one side all the way down since it has an elastic waist. EASIEST THRIFT REFASHION EVER. So, next time you go to the thrift store and pass on that humungo skirt with an elastic waistband, GIVE IT TO ME INSTEAD. Or you can take it in yourself and then give it to me.
P.S....

I don't dislike Eddie Bauer - especially because it's gotten a bit of a facelift recently - but I never would have guessed that skirt was EB. Super cute!

ReplyDeleteI think I might have posted a comment like this recently...but I wanted to say I've spent a bunch of time on your blog, looking at your style, and THANK YOU because your outfits are actually inspiring and do-able. You really make the pieces you love work for you and go very far. It makes me see the pieces in my wardrobe totally differently! Love this skirt, too. You rock!

Thanks, Natasha!
ReplyDeleteIf you have an elastic waistband skirt that fits you well already, you can use that as a marker to indicate how much you'll need to take in. If not, You can always pin it and see if it'll fit!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skirt and those sandals are so cute, too. :)
ReplyDeleteyou are an amazing thrifter, elaine! loving that skirt.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple skirts I've been wanting to take in with elastic waistbands, BUT! I'm worried that when I do, I won't be able to get the waistband over my hips anymore. Has this been a problem for you at all? Usually skirts that fit my waist well have a zipper so I'm scared the elastic skirts won't work. Any advice??
ReplyDeleteYour skirt is gorgeous! I love the print and color!
