gold necklace via Nordstrom Rack, $5 (similar); thrifted Gap chambray shirt, $3 (similar); thrifted floral skirt, $3; thrifted bag, $3; Vince Camuto heels, $76
I got this skirt at a thrift store I've always driven by on my way to work but never considered checking out because....well, it was just one of those drive-bys, you know? But I was walking to who knows where back when and ended up passing by it and went in to take a look. It's just a run-down, small, family-owned thrift store. Super cute. Anyway, I sifted through all the junk and found this gem of a skirt. I remembered Shannon's recent floral trends post and had to snatch it up! It is bordering the line of granny and kind of stylish. (I don't dare say high fashion... Okay......high fashion.) You know it's ugly and fabulous. I have to make sure I style it right.. It would be very easy to cross that granny line.... You guys will have to keep me in check. Deal?
I was just about to comment saying the same thing. You shouldn't need to trim off more than about 3" and that will get you out of the granny zone for sure. I could see you pairing this with one of your brightly colored belts, as well.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit. Thrift store shopping is the best!
ReplyDeleteSo so adorable!

ReplyDeleteyou just wrote about my life! to a tee!
I adore this outfit and I don't think granny at all.
however I can imagine it on the rack and I bet it looks grannyish there,
but on you it looks AMAZING!
you rock.
Also, thank you for the post I requested on Easter!
from your sister in Christ,
Essence
that is one of the prettiest, vibrant skirts I've seen this season! if this is granny, it's granny chic!!
ReplyDeleteGIRL I LOVE THIS!! I need to get me a chambray shirt stat...
ReplyDeleteI third this. If you seriously want us to keep you in check, I have to be honest - I think the longish midi skirt length coupled with the high-contrast ankle strap really cuts off your leg line here. I think it would be better if the skirt was shorter, or maybe with non-ankle strap shoes (or a nude-ish, lower contrast ankle strap). But just my opinion. Usually I love your outfits! :)
ReplyDeleteI cross the granny line daily. I don't think I even do it well. haha. Granny things are just so... awesome.
ReplyDelete-april.
Yeah, I think I might.. It hits right at the widest part of my calves. I don't know if I want to make it knee-length though. I'm embracing the midi trend right now. Plus, that also means I can always hack off more later but I can't sew back a few inches!
ReplyDeleteI see no granny here. Love this outfit.

i'm in love with this!
ReplyDeleteI so love this whole outfit. I really like how bright the skirt is, and along with the floral print...it screams spring. And I think that the fact that the whole outfit is made up of all light colours (with just the small, black shoe straps), I think it's so refreshing to see.
ReplyDeleteYou did a fantastic job- the chambray shirt is perfect, and your heels are anything but granny!
ReplyDeleteI just did a post yesterday on the amazing things you can find at a thrift store! Who knew there were so many hidden treasures out there?!
Wow! I really, really like this outfit! You are totally pulling this off! The chambray shirt and the bag keep it current & special, I also like the length of the skirt and the fact that when you get tired of it, you can crop it and have a brand new skirt/style. I think this is one of your best outfits, no kidding.
ReplyDeleteThe shoes are key to this outfit. I love the bright floral! :)
ReplyDeletepretty skirt! love your outfit :)

Love the shoes! And the chambray keeps it contemporary - I don't know any grannies who wear chambray button ups!

I too wrote a post recently about the floral print cute/granny line, haha. I love this skirt, though! You can totally pull it off.

Love this look just the way it is! And those heels are so great--you can wear them with everything!
ReplyDeleteGranny with those shoes? Nah ...
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS WHOLE OUTFIT. And I will be copying it ASAP.
ReplyDeleteTo de-grannify, hack a few inches off the bottom and style like Karla: http://www.karlascloset.com/2011/08/floral-arrangements.html.
ReplyDeleteOOOO love your skirt!!!
ReplyDeletehttp://fashionistanygirl.blogspot.com/
love it.
ReplyDeletewhenever i am concerned a skirt i am wearing is kinda granny-ish, i knot the shirt instead of tucking it in, adds a little youth. but don't worry, you don't look granny. and i'm really falling in love with those shoes - they go with everything!
I love how you styled it! Such a pretty outfit.
ReplyDeleteYou are riding the ugly/stylish line so well. Great styling. You look great!
ReplyDeleteGranny? Absolutely not! You look fantastic! Such a pretty smile :)
ReplyDeleteYou? Granny? No way. Unless granny is the new hottie.
ReplyDeleteNo seriously, this outfit is so pretty, and fresh and perfect for the season. I think you look great.
