Happy Mix

Thursday, March 01, 2012
First of all, you guys... Thank you for ALL of your comments, suggestions, stories, support, and love from my adult acne post. I was quite literally shaking with anxiety a whole day before it was even posted! I kept contemplating whether I was ready to reveal so much of myself...an ugly side no less. But I hated feeling alone through this. I felt like everyone had great, perfect complexion except for me. I realize how ridiculous that is now.. We're all in this together (or were for the lucky ones!) If you know of anyone who is suffering from adult acne, please direct them to that post and let them know they are not alone, that they are beautiful, that their skin doesn't define them. Now back to regular programming..

leopard print scarf via ebay, $8 (similar); thrifted Old Navy cardigan, $4; modified Forever 21 skirt, $7 (similar); Fitzwell flats, $76

I've been avoiding cardigans lately... Maybe I cardiganed myself out? But when I saw this color peeking out from the sea of monstrous grandma prints at the thrift store, I had to snatch it! Plus, how else could I have recreated this J.Crew fall look kinda sorta?? They had me at chartreuse, stripes, and leopard...which is essentially everything. Let's consider this the younger sister version of the J.Crew look... Anyway, buttoning it up all the way with a scarf (tutorial here!) to hide the v-neck makes it look like a regular loose, comfy sweater. I like! Wonder what other cardigans I can do this with...

Also, how I wore this cardigan with jeans - one arm at a time.

And, hey! We're still taking questions for our Q&A! Get to know the Clothed Much team and post your questions here!

  5. No, no, you are NOT alone m'dear.  I have breaking out like a teenager all over again.  And I just turned thirty.  It happens.  I equate it to quitting smoking two months ago and given the choice between a clear complexion and unhealthy lungs and acne and healthy lungs, I think I'll take the latter.

I love your bright cardigan and the pattern mixing of leopard and stripes.  Go on girl!

That's okay, I thought I WAS the only Blogger without a perfect complexion! I've gotten some rude comments before, regarding my acne. I don't wear any makeup, thus it's on display for all to see. But, guess what? I don't care! So thanks for "revealing" yourself! : )

Crazy cute outfit! I love that color, I just can't wear it-it looks awful on me!

  8. Love this color paired with the stripes and spots! Everyone struggles with something, and you putting it out there for everyone to see only makes the rest of us feel more human! Way to be open, honest and really letting the readers 'see' you!

Love the color/print mix combo!  That was an incredibly vulnerable and honest post yesterday. Thanks for sharing Elaine!  I developed some sort of acne/breakouts a lot last year.  One derm said it was acne.  Another said it didn't seem like acne.  Most recently, I got a laser treatment (from Groupon) that targets breakout locations (like the same spot keeps getting the same breakouts).  That was 3 weeks ago and I haven't had the same painful big bumps (under the skin, not poppable).  I'm getting a second treatment next week and I would highly recommend it!

  14. So cute and chic! The leopard scarf looks great against the chartreuse and stripes. I own the same skirt, excited about pulling off a similar look with a red cardi and my black-and-white animal print scarf ... :)

  15. that stripped skirt is to die for, and the scarf with the chartreuse just make it an instant eye-popper!

  18. Very cute way to make a skirt modest - especially difficult for someone like me who has really long legs!!! I'll remember this for next time. :]]]
