Smiling is my favorite (except in the last picture)

My shoes came!!!! They're a little tight and I think I'll have to cut a toe off but they're so worth it. The shirt fit like a grandma shirt and I don't have time to go to the mall to return it so I guess I'll just throw it away.

What I do best

1/30/2011

Yesterday Chase and I went to the Fashion District of L.A. We loved it. It reminded us of the street markets in Hong Kong, Korea, and the Philippines but filled with Mexicans.
We didn't buy any clothes. Just food. Always. The whole place sold cheap overpriced goods...like the malls aren't stocked full of that already. But it's at least three times more fun in a dirty alley with food carts.

Grossest thing I ever ate

1/29/2011

...was not chicken feet.
taken by me in the Philippines last summer
In Korean foods, I love sun-dae (pig/cow intestines stuffed with noodles and veggies) and sun-dae-guk but Chase thinks the latter tastes like blood. It doesn't. He's just American. I've also had fried larvae but that was for extra credit in school once so it doesn't really count. Most recently I tried a Filipino dish called sisig but I couldn't finish it after Chase told me it was chopped up pig's face...and then I realized how American I was too.

What's the grossest thing you ever ate?

KUTE Clothes

Round three! If you missed it, check out the first and second posts for KUTE Clothes.

So I've been on the edge of my seat with KUTE Clothes lately. We've emailed back and forth and they told me they were getting a huge shipment. They already got a few new pieces updated on their website but THIS jacket is definitely my fave!! ..more so than this one I featured a while ago...and it's cheaper!

I would wear this with my Hanes men's t-shirt, my black skinny jeans, and my Tsubo boots for a quick and comfy outfit. Perfect for traveling!

Is this something you would wear? What would you wear it with?

Hello, world! I can see again!! I cut my bangs a couple nights ago. I think I like it. I don't know. I just got tired of having hair in my face. Chase liked my longer bangs. He said it reminded him of when we were dating.  And then I cut them right then and there. I don't want him to remember me as his child bride every time he looks at my hair. (I got married when I was 19. Don't judge.)

1/23/2011

Yesterday Chase and I did stuff...which is a big deal because we're boring. Chase took me shopping because I've been complaining to him (and you guys) about how much I hated my clothes. (I bought pants.) On the way we spotted the famous Kogi foodtruck so we had to pull over. It was DELICIOUS. We've had Korean tacos before but these are the real deal.

Moooovies

1/22/2011

I LOVE movies. It seems there have been a spew of bad movies rolling into the theaters lately so Chase and I haven't gone for a while. I love chick flicks like the new Pride and Prejudice (love!!!!) and stupid-funny movies (the okay ones because let's admit it, they're supposed to be stupid). I'm not a fan of action or serious dramas because I hate blood and fighting and dramas are boring. But I liked the Bourne movies. I canNOT watch horror movies. I'll get nightmares because I'm a wuss. Confession: I also love children's movies and my brother-in-law likes to make fun of me for that because I fill up his Netflix with kids' movies! Like I watch Up and Despicable Me on repeat all day and Chase hates me for it.
What kind of movies do you like? And what have you seen recently that you love?

Reader Question: Red Pants

1/21/2011

I got a question from Alexandra, a graduate student and research assistant, about how to wear red pants. This is easy:  I don't know either. Though I have been eyeing some red skinnies ever since I saw Kendi sporting some. Alexandra has red straight-leg work pants. I personally don't like or know how to style straight-leg pants unless they're baggier...then you can just roll them up, but she said hers were a tighter fit.

My first option would be to hem them so they're cropped.

Easy Peasy Necklace Holders

1/20/2011

I've seen a lot of those picture frame necklace holders circulating the interweb but didn't like the idea of the bottoms of my necklaces still cluttering my vanity. I saw this idea on Apartment Therapy a while ago and loved it! ..especially since we had a lot of Filipino and Hong Kong coins from our trip last summer! I nailed 1" nails at an angle and then glued the coins on the bed. Easy peasy.

You'll need...
  • a hammer
  • nails
  • foreign coins
  • super/hot glue
And then it should like kind of like this but better.

Reader Question: Backpacking-in-Europe Wear

1/18/2011

I got another reader question from Cat who is going BACKPACKING in EUROPE. I'm hoping she'll take me with her and her husband. I'll just nestle between them in their bed. They'll never notice me I'm so quiet. Anyway, she will be walking tons and will need to pack light to fit everything into a 20x24 bag. Chase and I backpacked in the Philippines last summer, not because we're hip and cool but because rolling suitcases would have been too much of a hassle. I was also hot, sweaty, and gross for a whole month so I'm super jealous of Cat and her nicer European weather.

Cat said she wanted to wear a skirt but didn't know how to wear it and she mentioned bringing two pairs of jeans. I say scrap one pair of the jeans and bring a denim skirt instead! With these pieces, I can already see 5 or 6 outfits. And check out the convertible bag!! When you already have a backpack, a day backpack is annoying to tote around between cities along with your bigger backpack so a convertible one for the day would be perfect.

Today's Getting-to-Know-You question was submitted by Ava!
What are your favorite bands and/or music to listen to right now?
Chase has a ton of music and when we were first married, he scoffed at my selection of Dashboard Confessional and Michael Buble. I'm over Dashboard now but we both love Mr. Michael. Chase has converted me over to the likings of Daft Punk and Ratatat. I'm still trying to love reggae for him but I don't think I can do it. I've recently been listening to Ingrid Michaelson a lot. Is she old school now? I feel like everybody's already over her. I'm not into the music scene as you can see. Are the Backstreet Boys still together?? What year is this?

Reader Question: Winter Wear

1/14/2011

I recently got a question from a reader who was wondering what outfits she could wear in Canada. I've never been to Canada during the winter and that's probably a good thing because I thought Utah was cold enough for me. I don't remember what I wore during the Utah winters but I don't want to know because they were probably horrible. So with a little imagination and unlimited funds, here are a few outfits I wouldn't mind sporting around in the snow (but I'd rather not).

TAG! I'm it!

1/12/2011

Kendi tagged me in a "7 Things about You" post for the stupid school years. I couldn't pass this up because I was so cute even back then.

Guess which one I am? You'll never know.
  1. When I was in kindergarten, I had a "boyfriend". Then I saw him playing with another girl during recess and I punched him. We never talked after that.
  2. One time for Christmas I got a bunny costume as a present (Santa sucked then)...and I still put it on. This was before I knew what "A Christmas Story" was. Now I love that movie.
  3. My dad got me a car for a month in high school (before it died). It was a white beat-up Toyota Corolla that smelled like smoke and had a Grand Theft Auto sticker on the back right bumper.
  4. In high school I was on the track team and we had a meet that day so I guzzled water all day. When I got up to go to the bathroom (probably for the nth time) in my math class, my teacher asked me if I had a medical problem. I should've said yes.
  5. I left high school a semester early to go to college. I didn't graduate early. I took the courses I needed to graduate from high school at college (double dip!). Best decision ever. College is 12309874x better than high school.
  6. I took ESL (English as a Second Language) until 7th grade. I guess they didn't think I spoke good Engrish then. (Sorry, couldn't help it.)
  7. In third grade, my teacher made me and another Korean boy go up to the front of the class and speak Korean to each other. We said hi.
Tell me something about your stupid school years...preferably something embarrassing.

We are family

1/08/2011

{taken in San Diego by Chase}

I thought we should cover the most important part about ourselves today...our family! I have a mom and dad...and they drive me CRAZY. When I was growing up, my parents were set in their Korean ways whereas I grew accustomed to American culture so there was a lot of miscommunication and cultural differences. Things are better now that I married a white guy. Chase doesn't speak Korean (just a few words/phrases here and there) but my mom does...and I guess that's all that matters to her because she just talks to him in Korean anyway. We're working on that. I also have a younger brother and a youngerer sister. My brother is on a Mormon mission in Spain and has been gone for two years but is coming home next month! My sister is going to school in Utah at BYU. None of us look alike...but it's okay because I'm the pretty one. (Just kidding. My sister is pretty too.) When our whole family is together, we're loud, crazy, blunt, and we make fun of each other a lot.

So who is in your family? And what is your family like??

You guys are probably thinking I've been shamelessly promoting Beso and their publisher program.. And I have. Only because I appreciate their cost-per-click (CPC). Shopstyle pays you next to nothing for your clicks! I did some research online and have found several accounts of people saying they paid $.003 or something ridiculously low like that. On top of the low CPC, you have the $100 pay limit which takes forever to build up. Beso, on the other hand, pays you $.05 to $.11 per click and their pay limit is $50. You do the math. I use both. Please know this is MY blog and I promise all Beso content is for my BLOG only and NOT work-related. That's my promise to you. Promise. Besides that little bit, I really like my new job and work place. :)
