Celebrate the Red and Green in Style

Friday, December 23, 2011
Don't want to wear the obvious red and green this Christmas? Take Shannon's color tip and don teal with red instead. It says you like Christmas but only if it corresponds with your outfit. Isn't that what this holiday is all about? And presents? And returning presents to get better stuff?

Wear the complementary colors far away from each other if you are not used to wearing a lot of color. This way you can still add in other neutral colors to tone them down. Or just wear the whole rainbow.

P.S. Don't laugh. The pic on the left was one of my first outfit photos on ze blog! Oh, boy. Okay...now you can laugh.

Wear them close to each other if you want more focus on a certain area. If you are endowed on top, wear the green and red hues on the bottom. If you are fuller on the bottom, wear the green and red on top.

Eek.. Another first outfit pic.. Can you guess which one?

To make a holiday statement, COLOR BLOCK!

Try pairing darker reds and greens this season if you're feeling dark and mysterious...or if it's all you've got.

Now let's see your red and green outfits! Add your holiday outfit to the link party below. No buttons. No rules. My gift to you!

Whether you choose to wear red and green or not, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

  1. I love those kelly green tights! I've been wondering how the quality and fit We Love Colors tights are. What are your thoughts?

  2. Thanks so much for sharing these great tips Elaine! I never really knew how to do the whole colorblocking trend without the colors looking like they clash. I love the white top/red skirt/blue flats combo the most :)

  3. Merry Christmas, Elaine!

  4. I went with olive and tomato... sort of a military Christmas color palette? I don't know... but I liked them together!

  5. I wear teal and red together alll theeeee time. It's my favorite color combination and I wear it in crazy amounts.

  6. great post!  it's fun seeing some of your older photos :)

thank you for the little link party.  i miss rule breaking mondays (i know it's only been like 2 weeks, i get sentimental quickly ok?) so it was nice to link up with you again.

hope you had a merry christmas and have a happy new year!!
