What To Wear This Thanksgiving

Wednesday, November 23, 2011
I don't know about you but when I am creating an outfit, besides factoring in weather, the setting, and the people I'd encounter/interact with that day, I also factor in FOOD. Does that make me a pig? ..because I am. SO, for tomorrow you bet I'm busting out my Thanksgiving pants a la Joey. But, that wouldn't be very fashion-blogger of me. To keep me in check, I've compiled a few choice outfits and tips to help me get dressed tomorrow, and just maybe it will help you too if you're a pig like me.

No jeans. It's too restricting in the waistband area if you're going to eat five turkeys. But if that's not your goal, go for the skinny jeans -- the skinniest you can find, really.

Think leggings with an over-sized t-shirt or tunic and boots like Diana here.

Or consider loose pants with a loose shirt on top.

If you're going to wear a skirt, wear an A-line or full skirt. Belt it to show a defined waist!! Exaggerate it!

If your Thanksgiving dinner is more fancy, consider a sheath dress with no defined waist. Embrace the shapelessness! ..and then pile on the jewels.

After all that, I'll probably wear the leggings + oversized tee + boots combo. What will you guys be wearing tomorrow??

Oh.... and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

  4. Haha...love this post, Elaine...especially your reference to Joey's pants! I'm planning on wearing a mini dress (with an elastic waist!), so hopefully I can eat until I burst. I mean, until I'm full. :) Have a happy happy thanksgiving, love!

  7. I like the no defined waist, thus room for more pie. Doesn't everyone?

  14. thanks for posting this, elaine.  i was planning to wear jeans with a poncho sweater so that when i inevitably open that top button to make a little more...uh...wiggle room, the sweater will conceal it and no one will be the wiser.
i'm so clever.but i think you've convinced me not to even give my family any false pretenses.  i'm going with leggings and a sweater.well, either that or i'll just bring my "dinner pants" as my boyfriend lovingly calls my habit of changing into pj pants at dinnertime.  (at home only, come on.)

    have a happy thanksgiving!
