Mink Pink blouse (c/o KODI Boutique), DownEast Basics undertee (gift), JCPenney necklace (free), thrifted and skinnied high-waist jeans ($8), Target clogs (gift), vintage bag ($15)

I've been wanting a pair of high-waist jeans since I realized they came back in style, which was like last week. I finally found a pair at the thrift store...and it was wide-legged! Double yay! Then I tried them on and realized it was only a couple inches too long for my shorty legs. Boo! It would've been fine if it were one inch or three inches longer but, no.... It was at that awkward length where you couldn't wear flats or heels without it dragging or looking too short. So I skinnied them...at 1 o'clock in the morning. And they are my new favorite skinnies...even if I'm not sure if it looks too mom-ish. What do you think? Are you onboard the high-waist jeans?

  1. I'm majorly impressed that you turned a pair of wide leg pants into skinny jeans...at 1am.  I don't think they look mom-ish at all.
Right now I'm all about high waisted jeans too.  I have what I like to call....a long crack.  (Some people have a short crack, and others have it looong - like me).  ^_^  It seems to want to pop out and say hi every time I bend over in almost all pants.  It took me way too long to realize that the low-rise jean was not my friend.  But the high waisted - those are my knight in shining armor.

Your outfit look great!  I can't get over your sewing skills....

    1. Wide legged high rise jeans need wedges. Not flats. …well, i wear high rise flares with my converse, but you need to have the right build.

  7. You did a great job! I understand struggling with hems. I am 5'3 and have to alter nearly all of my pants.

  8. I don't love them on me (I have the most ridiculously short waist), but on others they are really cute. These look great on you - they make your legs look miles long!

  9. Yeah, I tried by pinning them but they looked really weird with flats since they were wide-legged...like a huge flare and skinny feet. You know? No? Just me?q

  10. Aw, I'm sorry!! I've been trying really hard to stick to my secondhand/thrift rule, can't you tell?? :)

  11. Thanks!! I keep going back and forth about it, which is no fun because of my stupid cowlicks!

  12. Thank you!! If you look closely, it's not so great.. Haha.

  13. I love them on you! I'm not sure they are "high waisted" as much as not low rise, but maybe its the blousy top. Whatever they are, adorable and not mom-ish at all!

  14. Yeah, I was actually wondering that too...but they say high waisted in the jeans?? Either way it's a nice change from my low rise jeans!

  15. those jeans don't look mom-ish . . . they don't even look that high waisted actually.

  17. i bought a pair of low-rise jeans for christmas last year. i'm not really liking them that much--i always have to tug them up. the high-waisted is definitely for me!!! and i'm a mom so.....

  18. Definitely not mom jeans! At least I hope most moms aren't wearing skinny jeans. I think the high waist is really flattering! They're not too high but high enough to define the waist more.

  19. You should totally do a 'how-to' on how to skinny jeans/pants. I would love to do that to a couple pair of mine!

  20. They are definitely not too mom-ish, and would make for a fabulous equestrian look if paired with boots and a blazer.

  25. No, it looks awesome. I wish i were as talented and could sew...I just paid 40$ to alter a dress and keep the original hem...alterations are robbery in nyc!!!

  30. I've been wanting high waisted jeans FOREVER. I usually avoid pants shopping at all costs though... I can never find ones that fit well.

  31. Also, I am amazed at your sewing powers. Mad props.

  32. Wow, you're really nifty with skinnying them! =) They look great, not mom-ish at all.

  33. Wow!  You tailored them yourself?  Impressed!  I've been on the skinny HW bandwagon since seeing Alexa Chung rock them a few years ago.  That said, the skinny HW is not on board with me and my bod.  But I have bought a Madewell pair earlier this Spring and I'm determined to wear them soon!

Nooooo! Not even close to looking mum-ish! They look super stylish. And the pink colour of the top really warms up your skin tone.

  41. Wow! you've skinnied them? That's impressive.(Although I can sew everytime when I have to alter/re-work some clothes I hate it and I almost never do it by myself, which is weird cause I like to sew)

And you are looking so good in it.

  42. Definitely not too high-waisted or momish! They fit you perfectly.

  45. I like high waist jeans but they don't like me. They fit me really weird. So, I admire them from afar. ^_^

  46. Pshh, those aren't mom jeans.

  47. Ooh. I personally don't really like the high-waisted jeans, but my mom does.  Haha, not that that makes it mom jeans though!  I was actually distracted by your blouse, which is super cute, the lighting or something makes the print really pretty compared to on the site, is it really that vibrant? :]

    ReplyDelete
  48.  You make high-waist jeans looks super cute with a floral blouse

    ReplyDelete
  49. Haha! Are you sure?? ;)
Yeah! It's more vibrant and colorful and flowery IRL. It looks a bit dulled on their site.
