Gap button-up ($12), secondhand choker ($5), secondhand BDG jeans ($17), Ros Hommerson oxfords ($26), vintage bag ($15)

I'm loving this recent choker trend. What do you think of it? Have you tried it? I personally didn't like choker necklaces before...which is why I've only worn this necklace a few times. But when paired with a button-up, I love it!! Thanks to Shannon for the inspiration! Check out Who What Wear's Accessory Report for more ideas on what you can pair with choker necklaces.

  1. At first I thought you meant the New York Yankees.  This makes much more sense!  I like the way chokers look, but my wife can't wear them.  She has sort of a phobia about anything too close to her throat.  She can't wear turtlenecks.

  4. I want to love the choker look, tried it with a button up yesterday & it's didn't seem to work for me. Maybe I need a new choker. Love you outfit, very classic chic.

  5. I have worn a choker a couple times with a scoopneck sweater or T, I like them, but still prefer longer necklaces bc I feel like they give me length/height and elongate my overall look....

  6. PS - You're looking very thin--don't get too busy to eat!

  7. Ahhhh chokers. I remember back in the mid to late 90s when I was in middle school when we wore those horrible black velvet chokers that were actually tight on your neck....I dont need those to come back, but yours with the crisp white shirt is quite chic Elaine.

  9. I always feel like my neck looks extremely short when I wear chokers. Maybe if I try it this way it'll work!

  13. Cute outfit, I just subscribed to Who What Wear... I can't believe I went 22 years of life without it! Also I forgot that you had lived in Rexburg once... I hope my life after BYU-I includes warmer climates too haha!

  14. I wore some unfortunate chokers in the 90s. When you are in Jr. High, a velvet choker with a peace symbol seems like a good idea.

  15. Do you follow 90s Girl Problems on Twitter? One of today's tweets was "My choker is too tight." Hahhaa.

    (You look fabulous as always!)

  18. I love the choker with the button-up shirt but I'm not sure how much I like it otherwise! I love your all the way buttoned-up style! So cute!

  19. I love the look - on others, because it doesn't go well with my short neck and wide shoulders!

  21. Wow, hearing the word "choker" really brought me back to 6th grade, which I DO NOT want to relive. However, I agree that a choker-like necklace can look great over a button-down. I did something similar the other day by wrapping a strand of pearls and wearing it under the collar of a button down and cable knit sweater. So if we're both doing it, it MUST be cool!

  22. I like the ones that go down around the bottom of your neck, near your collar bone. But I'm not sure I can handle those old school chokers that would sit higher on your neck. I always though they made people look a little bit like transvestites (and trying to hide an adams apple). This necklace is lovely though, you should wear it all the time.
