I don't like to dress up because I'm not a fun person. But for those who dressed up at work got to leave two hours early today and you know I'm all over that!!! But then I had to find a costume... I scoured the internet for days to find something that I had without having to buy anything new...because let's face it -- I'm a cheapskate. After lots of crying and Googling and digging through my closet, I finally found it. I gave you guys a little clue on my Twitter and Facebook page. Only three people got it right! Go Sacha, Berni, and Myly!!! I was Coco Chanel. (If you didn't get it, it's okay... A lot of people at work didn't either -- I got Hilary Clintons, Condoleezza Rice, and Liz Claiborne. But Diana got it right!!)

It was easy after I figured it out. I had an LBD, lots of pearls, and a quilted chain-strap bag -- but what about the short(er) hair? I got the hair idea from The Beauty Department. I braided the lower half of my hair and pinned it up, then I quickly waved and teased the top half and tucked it underneath in a low pony. I'll be doing this hairstyle more often! I loved having a short bob again!

I didn't dress up because we don't really celebrate Halloween in Australia, which is kind of a bummer :( But I love your work's costume policy ...

shoot! i needed to figure out a way to bob my hair last night and all my attempts were failures. next time i'm going to try this method. it looks really nice! i also pulled a costume out of my closet last minute. i was audrey hepburn in roman holiday, but it sort of just looked like i put together a retro 50s outfit, since no one i know is as obsessed with her as i am.

Love this look on you! Sometimes there's nothing better than all black with bold jewelry. You look so classy and elegant (not that you don't usually, of course).

AWESOME costume Elaine! It's so creative and I immediately think Chanel when I look at it. :) And what better costume for you to do, considering you run a fashion blog :D

Elaine said...

Aw, yay! I'm so glad you saw it! Not a lot of people did.. Haha

Seriously! That's the only way I know how to wear black.. Haha

Let me know when you do! I'd love to see!

Elaine said...

Nah, I don't like dressing up either... We'll grow old and jaded together.

Elaine said...

Not really. It was pretty easy! The hardest part is waving it because my hair is stick straight!

I was a V.C. Andrews novel for Halloween!

I didn't get to leave work early, but everybody spent most of the day giggling and taking each other's pictures, so it was still a low-key day.

Hey! I have a facebook page called Modern Modest Fashion, and I was
wondering if I could feature your first photo on an album dedicated
specifically for photos from fashion blogs on the internet. Your blog
will be listed as source and also as a must read blog. Is that ok?
