Behind My Camel

Remember my mom sweater?? It's back! This was not going to be a one time deal. I am going to wear it out until I don't associate it with my mom anymore....because I actually kind of like it. There! I said it!!

This outfit was inspired by this pin. Isn't it amazing?? Tan and neon pink together? Now you see why I had to buy this sweater? I couldn't leave it behind knowing I had the perfect neon pink to go with it. All I need now is a hot pink beanie and blonde hair. And the half-tuck will never die.

P.S. Don't you love that S-wave my hair's doing on the side of my head? NOT. Stupid cowlick/baby hairs. (Chase has worse cowlicks than me. Our kids' hairs are going to be insane!!! {Last word must be said in a falsetto. No exceptions.})

Another example of what I actually look like in real life:  hand in hair, dazed and confused.

I'm wearing a thrifted Ann Taylor sweater ($6), Anthropologie necklace (free), Forever 21 necklace ($8), vintage skirt ($5), thrifted Nine West heels ($3), and vintage Gucci bag ($3).

  8. Love the color combo.  Someone in one of my classes was wearing it the other day, very cute.
My son has a cowlick, and I love it.  It's adorable.  My Dad has one, too, and I think it bothers him subconsciously somehow because he's always rubbing it while he drives, lol.  (Unfortunately I think his mom always gave him a hard time about it.)

  10. I think that If I got a Gucci bag for $3, I would have a hard time not wearing a t-shirt announced my shopping prowess to the world.

  12. I've been obsessing with nude and neon contrasts! I haven't worn any combo like this yet but I love them, the statement necklace you wore could not be anymore perfect, happy weekend!

  16. Gotta love the thrift stores :D One of my local thrift shops does a special kind of clearance sale: 'All You Can Stuff In A Bag For A Dollar". With my stuffing skills, I can get plenty of nice clothes for 5 cents each! That includes a pair of pumps which would go so nicely with your neon pink-&-tan ensemble!

  21. I love your outfit!! The bright pink is just fab and the camel complements it so well. If told of the combo I would just think it's too warm or the pink wouldn't stand out as much but you've made it pop just right.

  22. This is one of my favorite outfits you've ever posted!

  23. Very nice!  As so many other readers said, I wouldn't normally pair camel and hot pink, but it looks great!  And the black patent pumps add a nice graphic edge :)

  28. i have that exact same cowlick only on 1 side of my head, and it drives me INSANE! it is the reason i can't have bangs. maybe we can try to make 1-sided cowlicks an attractive trend? i really love the bright pink skirt here, and it is perfect when combined with the tan sweater. i don't see anything mom-like about it!

  32. I was trying to channel you this morning Elaine while trying to do the half-tuck. Apparently my channeling skills need some work because it was a disasters. Any tips on the half-tuck? You make it look so easy!

  33. Eek! No, unfortunately I spend an hour every day to get the half-tuck right.. It's annoying, right?

  34. Seriously, right? I hate it! :(
