Spinning Tunic

Thursday, August 18, 2011
I haven't worn this top in a while because I found two grease stains down the front.. :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:( That's what I get for using my shirt as a napkin. So now I always have to tuck it so no one can see the stains, which totally sucks because now I have to wear pants...which I always wear, I mean.

I've become a big fan of tunics recently. I always thought they hit weird at my legs so I always got regular tops. But now I understand that you can TUCK tunics in the front! I'm a genius! Or let it all hang out. It's all goood.

It was a rough morning so I relied on my trusty formula of skinny jeans with a big loose shirt. Works every time, 90% of the time. Sunglasses are not optional.

I'm wearing a Target tunic ($16), my husband's belt ($10), secondhand BDG jeans ($17), Old Navy wedges ($15), and vintage brown bag ($15).

  4. There is a great stain remover that you can find at Walmart called "Kids n' Pets" that does wonders! It's usually found near the carpet cleaners, but it always takes my grease stains out! You might just check it out; http://www.walmart.com/ip/Kids-39-N-39-Pets-Instant-All-Purpose-Stain-And-Odor-Remover-32-fl-oz/15724218.

  6. Miniskirt length tunics are a great idea over leggings and snug pants.

What happens the other 10% of the time???

  8. a really easy and inexpensive way to remove grease and oil stains from clothing is with dawn (or any other grease-busting) dish soap. i've saved myself so much money by just pretreating with a small amount of dish soap and then laundering like normal.

  13. Those jeans fit you so well. I have tried to pull off the half tucked look, and I can't rock it nearly as well as you.

  16. I remember when I first realized I could tuck shirts in to hide stains. I felt like I'd opened up a secret door. It saved me from tossing away one of my favorite shirts! :)

  19. sad grease stains! My grandma taught me that you can get those out by adding a mixture of equal parts water, dish soap, and ammonia to your wash. Its gotten some out of my silk shirts.

  20. if none of the grease fighting tips work that others have suggested to you I find that most of the time when I get grease stains they fade over time even with me just washing like normal... so don't give up :)

  25. What an amazing silhouette on you! Yes, I am jealous of those skinny minnie legs too :)

I hear ya on the sunnies too - that's why I wear mine in 90% of my photos - gotta hide those wrinkles ;)!

  26. I really love tunics, but I wind up having no choice but to belt them, or look like I'm wearing a sac. I get they're supposed to be loose, but with my larger chest, there's all this empty space between me and my shirt where it hangs off my bosom... so I look hayuge. No fun. Bummer about the grease stains on this, I really like the colour. I have a thing for anything camouflage/mildly militaristic in colour.

  28. A great pair of skinny jeans and the 'perfect' grey shirt are like the new 'little black dress' every woman should own them. You look fantastic! This outfit & shoes make your legs look 20 miles long.

  29. I've used M30 Citrus Cleaner on grease stains before and it came right out. Perhaps you can try that. I should warn you though, it smells weird but it gets the job done

  30. i need to get that tunic!  i love the  material! oh, and if you happen to notice the stain as soon as it happens, some water or baby powder can get it out.  if not there's a bunch of oil removers at the grocery store :)

  33. It's interesting how some people are too critical of themselves (you and my wife share that) and others are way, way, waaaay too confident.  I've never seen Jersey Shore, but I'm thinking Snuki or Snoki or whatever her name is falls into the latter category. =)
