I use the Simple Template in Blogger and customized it from there. I know a lot of other bloggers do too. It's the easiest and cleanest template on Blogger...for now. If you didn't notice, at the bottom of all the posts there is a string of dots and a dashed line at the footer. I'm going to teach you how to get rid of it for a cleaner look. You don't have to know HTML to get it. You just need to know how to read and follow instructions.
Go to your Blogger dashboard. Click on Design, then Edit HTML and DOWNLOAD YOUR TEMPLATE. If you're in the new Blogger Draft dashboard, click on Template and then scroll down and click on Backup/Restore Template. It's good to always save your template on your computer in case you make a mistake and you can't fix it! Now you're ready to edit.. Click on Edit HTML in Blogger Draft.

Hit ctrl + F together on your keyboard and type in dashed then press enter. There should be only one result. Delete the word dashed.

Click on Preview below the HTML box and scroll down to the bottom of your blog to see if the dashed and dotted lines are gone. Save your template. And you're done!

Thanks, Elaine!

Dots removed, so easy. Thanks!!! XO
ReplyDeleteI'll try it thanks!
ReplyDeleteNext can you explain how on earth to get rid of borders around pictures? Whether I tell the border to be white (my background color) or "transparent", you can still see a little ghost of something there, and it drives me insane.
ReplyDeleteAre you using Chrome?
ReplyDeleteI always find your blogging tips so helpful, and this was no exception.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on changing my template to something simpler, but it's so difficult, as I have so little knowledge of html. I am however excellent at following directions, so thank you!
And I'd love to see more of these kinds of tips if you have them!
No. Should I be?
ReplyDeleteNo. I found that it showed up in Chrome even when I had it as transparent as well but let me look into it.
ReplyDeleteOh, I got it! It wasn't a border, it was a "shadow" (??) that I never added, but there it was. Just had to delete a couple of lines of code.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tutorial - I love these. My blog design needs serious help.
ooo very informative.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've been searching for little tips like this to help my blog look cleaner, and this is such a simple fix. Mostly because you did a great job explaining it. So thanks! You made my new blog look that much nicer today :)

Wow thank you for this, it was really helpful! I tried both, but in the end decided to keep the dashed line for now, it was the dotted one that was bothering me.
ReplyDeleteDots removed, so easy. Thanks!!! XO
