No. I'm not.
I'm wearing Old Navy polkadot cardigan ($17), Old Navy striped shirt ($12), Anthropologie gold bib necklace (free), Gap Factory boyfriend jeans ($26), and JCPenney berry heels (free) with a vintage Gucci bucket bag ($3).

I would've liked this outfit more if I weren't wearing Old Navy. Why? Because Old Navy sucks. That's why. This is only my second (or third..) (maybe fourth?) time wearing this shirt and cardi and they're already stretched out and looking like I've worn it for a year. I don't know how this always happens (I do.) (Not really...) but whenever I leisurely walk into their store I always walk out with a purchase knowing I should've just crumpled up my money and burned it right there. But, srsly, isn't this outfit adorable???? I mean, I'm mixing stripes and polka-dots!!!!

Oh, and if you live in Utah or know someone who does, better check out this super-exclusive giveaway to win a brand new spankin' pair of shoes...because who doesn't want need another pair of shoes?

  1. Ugh, I feel that way about Old Navy too!  I kind of had to swear them off since every time I did a closet purge it would be 90% clothes from there, total waste of my precious clothing budget!

  2. i love this outfit!!  mixing stripes and polka-dots is my fave.  i've learned never to walk into Old Navy now regardless of their deals.  their quality is just too lacking.  you definitely make it look chic though!

    cute & little

  3. I adore this outfit! I love the mix of stripes and polka dots. I also agree with your Old Navy comment. I have banned Old Navy from my shopping destinations after having to return so many things due to them falling apart after just a few wearings. Sometimes, it just benefits me to pay more for some things.

    Sincerely,

    Julie

  4. This is really interesting! I wore a very similar outfit yesterday, also involving Old Navy--a pair of the most adorable flats I bought AT LEAST five years ago, and can still wear today. I think some of their stuff is really crappy, but if you rotate it in and out with other things in your closet, it can last. I've found the same true of H&M and Forever 21 and other discount brands too.

  5. Old Navy is so hit or miss. I won't buy anything without stretch there because it totally loses it's shape. I also won't pay full price. I do own quite a bit of stuff from there though because they have great sales and I live close to it lol I have some stuff that has lasted me years and then some things I gave to Goodwill.

  6. im a fan of the stripes and polka dots, too!! (on others, i dont think i own anything with polka dots...) very cute outfit :)

  8. This outfit is indeed tres adorable. And I echo your sentiment about ON (I have been ON free for five(?) years and I am proud of myself). And Gucci bag for$3?!

  9. ON been there done that, still I continue buying stuff! why? cheap thrills that don't last long but they make cute outfits like this one! You rock bf jeans!

  10. Loving the stripes and dots!  I'm gonn steal this--thanks!  HA!  As far as ON, I ONLY buy stuff on clearance, so at least it's not a ton of wasted money.  I do like buying stuff for my kiddos (on sale or clearance) because they grow out of their clothes about the same time you have to get rid of them anyway...  Win/win as far as kiddo clothes go.

  11. Love, love stripes and as a matter of fact I am rocking my stripes today too... ;)

  12. haha...I love old navy clothes, but I'm also pretty hard on my clothes so it's better to me that they aren't the best quality... I've had to get rid of so many more expensive pieces because I stain them or shrink them or whatever. Plus old navy always has so many colors, and I do love colors!

regardless, I love your spots and stripes!

  13. love your jeans, nice colour :) and the flat shoes too!
can't believe that gucci bag is $3 nice!

  16. You look so great!  Love the colored flats with this.  I have found for me that old navy tanks work out really well and living in florida its perfect.  But I know that is a no go for you.  Usually if I buy their tees (and it is so hard to resist when it is 2 for 10$ of whatever) I will end up eventually wearing it as a sleep tee eventually because of the stretchage.

  17. What a fun way to mix prints! And I love the pop of purple!

  18. I love how easy you pull together a casual weekend look with jeans. And because of you...I so want a pair of colored heels to make my outfit pop!

  19. Such a cute outfit - love the mixing of the patterns here! And I love your necklace too!

And amen on Old Navy - amen

  20. I have the same sort of love/hate relationship with Old Navy...they have some great sales and cute clothes but the clothes are almost disposable, which makes me wonder why I spend my money there too.

    ReplyDelete
  21. the outfit is quite adorable - i love your statement necklace (oh i love all statement necklaces, but especially ones from anthro).
sorry your old navy duds are letting you down. i dont have too much from them, but i love their sunnies and want to buy every pair...

  22. I love this outfit, and I agree with you after a couple of times wearing something from Old Navy they looked like old clothes. Have a great weekend ;)

  23. love that cardigan so much! my sister has it in teal and I am sooo jealous cause when I went to get one they only had larges left:(

    ReplyDelete
  24. It is super adorable, too bad the quality isn't that great.

    ReplyDelete
  25. At least you look freakin' amazing! But I agree about the ON - their stuff is so hit or miss. I think they've got a ton of cute stuff, but I've stopped buying their sweaters because they never wash and wear well.

  26. Unfortunately, (or well fortunately by the looks of your post lol) I don't exist in Old Navy because even the XS's are too big. I do love your stripes and polka dots though! and your boyfriend jeans are sooo cute. :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well we don't have Old Navy over here, so I shall ignore the quality issues and just say how cute you look.  That necklace is fab.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Love the mixing of the stripes and dots! You make Old Navy look good, girl. :)

    ReplyDelete
  29. love the mix and match... but agreed, old navy gets double thumbs down.

  30. This is a really cute outfit.  Old Navy stuff is really, really inexpensive and that means they don't use the best fabric, etc.  Sad but true.  If you want things to last you have to pay a little more for them.  I buy clothes for my grandkids from Old Navy but they are growing so fast that things don't need to last for longer than a few months.

    ReplyDelete
  31. old navy does suck!  i've never had anything last more than a few wearings.  it's kind of a bummer...but i just need to remember it's not even worth it.  but! the outfit IS so adorable!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I feel the same about Old Navy! I bought a pair of jeans while I was shrinking through sizes and they would turn shapeless after just a short wearing. It was infuriating. Glad I didn't have to wear them long. You should replicate this outfit in quality items!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah, one of my Old Navy cardigans faded...I just stopped by there today! (after like 2 years) and picked up a pair of sunglasses. I guess for accesssories Old Navy is okay :)

  34. ugh.  you disgust me.  but I mean that in the nicest way possible.  I can't believe you got that bag for 3 dollars.  seriously.  I am so jealous.

  35. I love, love those shoes.

I have the same problem with Old Navy, so I usually don't shoe there. However, the Old Navy in my area is giving 10% off your total purchase if you buy an item for the Joplin, Missouri tornado relief.

I found some boyfriend jeans and have been wearing them like this (sans the hot heels) on my days off of blogging. I haven't shopping at Old Navy for a looooong time. I have moved onto Gap (which is sadly most of the time more expensive, but they do have good sales from time to time).

  37. I love the boyfriend jean & shoe combo... sooo cute together!

  38. That cardigan is so cute! and I agree-there are some old navy things I really, really like and then some that I just know not to even go near.

  41. I know exactly what you mean about Old Navy. They have cute stuff, but it just doesn't last very well.

  42. Agreed. I don't shop at old navy anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I know exactly what you mean about Old Navy items stretching out so quickly! I don't shop there anymore. If I ever wear anything Old Navy, it's thrifted (it seems that their older items are better quality than the mess they make now.

This outfit is banging regardless. Thanks to your minimalistic closet and elephantine sense of creativity in remixing the items that you have, I have been greatly inspired and have started my own style blog.

  44. Agreed on the Old Navy sentiments, I've actually managed to avoid shopping there for a few years now; I can't stand that same stretching affliction that all the clothes have :/ I do love the stripes n dots though, and ESPECIALLY the shoes I need more color in my life :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Love your flat!  Love bright shoes... I like how it is casual but really cute and put together

  46. Those jeans are the best things in life! they fit so perfectly!

  47. Stuff like that is why I tend to avoid F21 and Old Navy all together and just save my money for stores like Banana Republic. I can't purchase as many things (and I often wait for major sales) but the clothes I get from that store and ones like it stay in my wardrobe for years. On the upside, I love the subtle pattern mixing and I can't tell that those items are stretched out at all :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I find that their regular shirts stretch out too much. But, their pants fits me perfectly. I own way too much Old Navy.

    ReplyDelete
  49. hahahaha you're too cute- love these shots! and those shoes were just the perfect touch!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I like how you're mixing patterns! I agree though, I hate Old Navy. I can't even remember the last time I bought something from them. Their clothes generally are too big for me, but I have also experienced some of their items stretching out a lot after a few wears in the past.

  51. great sweaters, the necklace really adds to them!

  53. There I was thinking I was pretty cool because I mixed stripes and then I see your stripes and dots...feeling kind of lame now!  Seriously, perfect little outfit Elaine.

  54. Love this look - especially with the red shoes . . . great casual look, love the sweater, even if it is Old Navy :)

  56. You look amazing. Love the micro-spots with the stripes.

  57. Ouch. Such an Old Navy hate fest going on here! :( I love Old Navy, and they are affordable and have basic styles that anyone can wear. Yes, the quality isn't as high (but you do pay for what you get), but it's right about the same as Forever 21 and H&M, and the prices are WAY lower. I'd rather buy 5 things from Old Navy for the same price as one dress from Forever 21 when the quality is the same.
