Hello Beach!

Wednesday, June 01, 2011
Chase and I took advantage of the three-day weekend and we ate and slept like kings - if by kings you mean two poor married kids, then, yes...like kings. We also went to Malibu beach. You know...where Malibu Barbie lives. (I didn't see her but I did see a million girls trying to look like her.)

Did I mention it took us an hour and a half to get there? It took us an hour and a half to get there. I love being stuck in L.A. traffic on my day off...and not because I'm stuck in traffic every day I commute to work...but because it was my day off, it was extra special. (Barf.)

My photographer-wannabe-boyfriend is so handsome.

YES. Double chin action.

I'm wearing H&M sunglasses ($1), Anthropologie shirt ($11 - buy it!), gray belt (from Fay), Forever 21 maxi dress-turned-maxi skirt ($5), and Wal-Mart brown sandals ($10) with a vintage Gucci bucket bag ($3).

The scenic route we sped through to get some In-N-Out.

  9. I love your outfit but what do Mormons wear to the beach when you want to get some sun?  Just curious.  Are there modest swimsuits?

  10. Yes! Like tankinis and one-pieces. They're hard to find.. One of my current sponsors, <a href="http://s5.histats.com/stats/r.php?1168968&100&6805&urlr=&www.limericki.com/>Lime Ricki</a>, is a modest swimsuit company though! A diamond in the rough.

  15. e, sorry about the traffic.  i wonder if la traffic is worse than dc traffic?  i am so glad to not have dc traffic in my life.  looks like you had fun anyway.  aren't those the best sandals ever?  i wear mine constantly and hope they last.

  25. I really like the waist belt, and traffic in LA sounds horrendous. I'm a pretty impatient person so I would never last. Sorry you had to see a bunch of Barbie wannabees.

  32. Boo to the LA traffic, but yay to Malibu! I've only been there for about 2 hours, but I liked it for that short time. My bf and I wanted to be super touristy and went to Cocktail Cove so we could get drinks on the beach. Super fun!

You're beach outfit is so gorgeous and elegant!

  33. Oh no, stuck in traffic on your day off!  That would task my patience (grrr).  I don;t mean to offend, but you and Chase both look cute in these pics.  I'm sorry.

  34. You are not offending! Thank you! :)

So glad you stayed yourself and didn't try to dress like Barbie (although you'd probably be the hottest Barbie if you did hehe). Loved your earthy approach to going to the beach! That top is such a wonderful color! I hope you and I can go to the beach one day. One of these days we're gonna meet up!

  44. speaking of beaches.... I would be in heaven if you happened to do a post on modest swimsuits. :) I know they are out there... :) Love your website!! Thanks for helping out the lds fashion world!

  45. Oh I am so glad that you got to go!! I hate how long you can sit on the PCH!! Next time you have to drive along Cliffside Drive it's a little further up but it's amazing.

  46. I have no idea how you deal with LA traffic on a daily basis.  A few days was enough for me!  I had similar fun getting to the Santa Monica Pier, but the Pacific is so gorgeous, it's worth the trouble. :)
