Trying a new 'do. I'm getting tired of my bangs. And I'm too lazy to go to a salon. And I'm too crazy to do it myself. Side bangs are hard. You actually have to try.

I went for an Emma Pillsbury look and wore my buttoned-up cardigan as a shirt. It was okay. I could've easily gone too librarian if I had worn my glasses...which I did for the rest of the day at work. Just call me Mrs. Hearn. Really. It's my name. (And my mother-in-law's.)

Don't forget to enter to win this water-inspired pearl bracelet and matching earrings. Made by a real merman. That was 90% false. Okay, fine. 60%. Follow my blog with bloglovin' for an extra entry. Or not. Whatever.

I'm wearing a reworked JCPenney pink necklace (free with gift cards), Old Navy gray cardigan ($4), handmade green skirt from a curtain ($2), and Tsubo brown pumps (c/o Tsubo - buy it!) with a MNG by Mango black bag (free with gift cards).

You have the best necklaces!
ReplyDeletelove yout $4 old navy cardigan!
ReplyDeleteyes side bangs are hard to style which is why i never style my hair = lazy!
Just Better Together
I am in the same exact position with my bangs. Its been 10 weeks and I still have 2 weeks to go until my appointment so I am rocking the side bangs, which are a pain in the bottom to get to work sometimes.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit, even if it is like Emma Pillsbury, is adorable. And you look fantastic, as always.

Every time I see my Ikea curtains (the exact same as your skirt), I want to pull them down and cut them up and make a bajillion skirts just like yours...I love it!
ReplyDeletea cardigan as a shirt...hmm clever :) You look cute Elaine. :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely see the Emma Pillsbury inspiration there; so very neat and cute. Hopefully without the slightly OCD and extremely germaphobe tendencies. :D
ReplyDeleteI am totally loving the shoes with the skirt. I think I told you before - I recognize the fabric you used for the skirt. I JUST LOVE IT! You are the 2nd person today that used their cardi as a top. Must be a trend! :) I think I might try it. Your shoes are killer. And your face does not look big, sweetie. Seriously! You are gorgeous. I'll bet you were adorable with your glasses on, too! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteI love this skirt, Elaine! I don't think your face looms big at all hahaha

i wander, i wonder
Very cute. One of my fav. outfits that you have posted.
ReplyDeleteYour curtain-skirt gives a really lovely element of luxury to your outfit today. I'm not really getting the librarian vibe, though. Emma Pillsbury yes, librarian, no. Unless you're Emma Pillsbury's relative who happens to be the most stylish librarian ever. Then I could see it.
ReplyDeleteSide bangs ARE hard, I've been getting mine cut every 3-4 weeks just so I don't have to try. Also, I'll never get sick of those Tsubo shoes.
ReplyDeleteShopping and Spreadsheets
I like the new do and I feel your pain I am too poor to get my hair done and I am crazy enough to do it myself. I actually cut my own bangs. I learned how to do it by watching a video on you tube hahaha.
ReplyDeleteWrite it in Lipstick
When ever I get a new hair do and step out of a salon thats exsactly how I feel! I feel like my moon face somehow got bigger... hahaha
ReplyDeleteyou look great though~ ^ ^
Vanilla Day

That's such a pretty cardigan! I like the details on it (: I used to love my bangs cause they looked really good but then got tired of my forehead always breaking. True story
ReplyDeleteYour shoes are so sweet and pretty!
ReplyDeleteThis hair do looks really good on you! I usually trim my bangs myself when I don't feel like going to that salon. Usually the result is pretty good.. usually.
ReplyDeleteThat first photo is lovely, you look really stunning.
ReplyDeleteThe skirt and shoes are especially nice and match together so well.

I'm rocking the side bangs lately as well, it started as 'my bangs are to long' but now I really like them. I have an abnormally large forehead (it's called FIVEhead) so I pretty much have to have bangs.
ReplyDeleteThis 'do looks super cute on you and side bangs are definitely the chic-est way to grow out your bangs.
Lovely, I like your outfit and hair. :)
ReplyDeleteLadylike and pretty, with a hint of edge - another fantastic outfit, Ela - er, Mrs. Hearn!
ReplyDeleteIt's good to see those Tsubo shoes again; the Target clogs were stealing all the blog-attention. I was starting to miss them.
ReplyDeleteNorth Meets South
I think you may be too hard on yourself. you are GORGEOUS! your face does not look bit, but I know how that feels -it happens to me all the time. And your outfit is stunning! I absolutely love it. you've inspired me :) thank you for sharing!

If you haven't done this already, try blow drying your bangs to the side after you wash your hair...it helps with mine anyway... :)
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I'm battling side bangs too and I. hate. them.
ReplyDeleteFrankly, didn't even notice yours because you're wearing my favorite skirt of yours and look pretty as usual. Great necklace.
I am loving this outfit :)

I'm digging your Emma Pillsbury, especially in this color combo. Very sophisticated color palette.
ReplyDeletehmmm...if your really crazy you would just chop them off! :) Is having a bigger face a good thing? Or a bad thing? lol
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog.
I have the same problem now where I'm trying to grow my bangs out and they just wont do anything but get in the way. Bobby pins and hairspray works but usually you want to chop your bangs off all over again to avoid this, I think this is what starts the vicious bang cycle!
ReplyDeleteWhere do you get all of these JCP gift cards? lol. Oh and.... I love everything about Clothed Much!

I rather like the side bang, its cute! I love that skirt and really great acccessories. Merman, lol?
ReplyDeletebesos,lynn
side bangs are so tough! not only do you actually have to do your hair but you have to get regular bang trims so it doesn't look all sloppy. i'm such a lazy hair person that i've all but given up on my side-swept bangs unless i'm feeling really saucy.
ReplyDelete-suzanne
awkwardly chic
your shoes are wicked! love em'. i still do envy your clogs though :) i wish target still had them. p.s. nice job on the skirt!
ReplyDeleteI really like this outfit! you look so pretty, and I'm crossing my fingers for you as well :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I love your side bun and sweepy bangs!
ReplyDeleteI am so taken with your curtain skirt - stunning and versatile! Once again I love how you styled it :)
ReplyDeleteSO pretty! I love how the necklace adds a subtle pop of color :D
ReplyDeleteThat skirt is absolute amazing! Love it. I almost feel like it would be too much as a curtain, but it surely is great as a dress.
ReplyDeleteHi! Thank you for stopping by my blog, Think your style is perfect :)
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration
Keep it up xo
yup, your face looks big with that hair do.
ReplyDeleteThese shoes are amazing. I love your outfit too. I hope you like your bangs or find a way to style them soon so that you aren't tired of them anymore!!
