This is what I wore last Friday. I don't remember anything else from that day. My life isn't that interesting to retell. Although I do have a fun story to share from Saturday... Chase and I went to an animal shelter to check out the cats. We've been talking about getting one for a while now so we thought we'd "shop" around and see what our options were...AKA mission: find a really superduper cute one. We saw a cross-eyed black cat sneeze boogers all over his face. He tried to clean himself off for like ten minutes. I'm pretty sure he's my cat soulmate. Update: Okay, I had to find a picture because I just can't stop thinking about him!! You can see his cute cross-eyed little face here.
P.S. I love this loose French-braid at the top of my head. It's the perfect way to get those stinkin bangs out of my face!
I'm wearing a black cardigan with lace detail ($17), Anthropologie gold bib necklace (free with gift cards), handmade green skirt from a curtain ($2), and Target clog sandals (gift from my in-laws) with an MNG by Mango black bag (free with gift cards).

Awww the kitty sounds adorable. Lovely look as well, and I do the brad the bangs back trick ALL the time.
I seriously can't believe I never thought of it before!! I would've stopped cutting my bangs for the past year and a half if I did it back then!
this is beautiful! you may be the only person on earth who can look so slim with a sweater tucked into a skirt.
also, i want to see pictures if you get a cat! christopher and i have two, and they are the absolute best study buddies.
I love this combination of patterns/colors...it's unexpected but still classically elegant. Lovely!
I'm loving that cardigan. The lace is really pretty.
such a pretty, lady-like look! maybe the cat-soulmate is meant to be. i say go for it!
What an adorable cat!!
PIECE OF CAKE. PEACE OF MIND.
You look adorable! i love the SHOES :)
I love all your french braids. I totally suck at braiding my own hair and rarely have an opportunity to braid other peoples'.
Your hair looks SO pretty. I'm inept at braiding my own hair. True story.
Petfinder won't show me the black kitty! I'm so sad! He sounds super cute. Somehow black kitten and boogers = cute... I may be biased, however, as I own a fuzzy black cat.
Love your skirt - as I do every time you wear it! :)
i love the contrast of patterns here - soooo pretty!!!
My husband probably won't appreciate this post as now I will be bugging him with pictures from our area - "look at this dog, it's so cuuuuute! Let's get a dog!" :)
When I first read the post heading "its not Friday Friday". I thought you were talking about the song :) "Its Friday Friday Friday" by Rebecca black . . . now that you will have the song stuck in your head. I hope you have a great week.
you should DEFINITELY get a cat. and cross eyed is for sure the way to go. you'll never know where he's looking= hours of fun.
I love that you mixed brown and black in the same outfit with pattern mixing, daring. Worked out so well!

I can't get over how cute the pattern is on your skirt. Good luck in your quest for finding a new kitty :) I know I am a catlady at heart, but my severe allergies prevent me from acting on it. That crosseyed cat sounds way adorable.
love the black and brown together and the combination of patterns and textures. so cute:)
You look beautiful, Elaine! Love the outfit and the hair. And your complexion looks flawless!
I love this!
Just Better Together
You look really cute in this outfit! Very ... romantic, don't you think? I see some Kristine or Polly in this outfit, haha. With the mix of prints/patterns etc. Maybe? :]
I'm not a cat person (and neither are my two dogs!) but I love the little black cross-eyed kitty! You need him (her?)!
{mommy chic}
I really like this cardigan with the printed skirt. Sounds like you found a keeper. Even if he is cross eyed. I love my two cats. It's kind of sad how much I love them.
My Heart Blogged
really cute outfit . i like the print of the skirt with the stripes on the top . it works!
Probably. I love her style!
That song makes me want to poke my eyes out with a fork! Your darling outfit on the other hand makes me happy!
Great outfit!! And that picture of the cross-eyed kitty is adorable :) You should definitely get him or any other cat, I can assure you they'll bring you and your husband so much happiness. Yes, I love cats, lol ;)
Whenever you wear this skirt, I'm always awed by how it's handmade from a curtain. One day I will also make a curtain skirt! And your love for pininterest is making me want to get one myself...I love how you can categorize everything, and I think it would make outfit inspirations way easier (As of now I keep them all in my head).

Ooh I really love your little hair style you have going on.. simple but pretty. :]
oh my goodness. that kitty is so cute!
Look, I know I'm not the boss of you or anything, but I'm gonna be pretty mad if you don't adopt that kitty. Just sayin'.

Ok. I must've literally laughed for over a minute after reading about your cat adventure. I definitely want a cross-eyed cat now. Hahaha poor thing. You are hilarious. (I like to believe we all have cat soulmates out there...somewhere...) :)

oyy i read your title and i was a goner, the song is now stuck in my head and it's only that part where she says "it's friday friday..." haha random fact: that girl goes to my niece's school!
anyway, i really like the print on your skirt! amazing how it was once a curtain!
Love this look! The patterns compliment each other so well.
GET A CAT YOU HAVE TO YOU WILL LOVE IT FOREVER AND EVER i cannot emphasize this point enough. i'm jealous you're allowed to have one!!
I want him soooo bad! But Chase didn't have that connection with him like I did when I saw him lick his boogies.
I know, me too. Now that song is stuck in my head! I'm stupid.
hahahah
The pattern mixing; the lighting; the hair--all so wonderful Elaine! Evan is so cute! I hope you find a kitty soon :)
you look so pretty in these pictures! i love your top and it's perfect with that curtain skirt!? (seriously??) way cool.
Your skirt is gorgeous. Always modest, always classy you are miss!
Everytime I see this skirt I fall in love a little bit more.

I looked at the cat and died a little inside. Cross-eyed and sneezing? Hilarious. Love the outfit, I really do love that skirt!

When we brought our pound puppy home - though I already loved her, I wasn't in love with her. She sparked with my BF and not me. But not a day or two later, we were both inseparable and she's totally my dog now.
Maybe Chase and your cross-eyed kitty-to-be need to spend some more time together!
OMG, that cross-eyed cat super duper cute!!! Take him! Take him! I love cats and had several of them as pets in the past! Your new braid style is stylish, now I am seriously considering keeping my hair long.
please get that kitty! he is so cute! update us soon! :)
I love that cardigan! I haven't seen one like that before, that I can remember...

Born To Be Styled
ick, I hate cats. But that cat sounds amazing.
loooove that cardigan.
Noooo does that mean we can't be friends??
I love your cardigan and the lace detail. It's cute and kinda nautical. And that kitty is cute, you should so rehome him.
So cute! I love animals with personality.
P.S. I love your 'you better recognize' sidebar note. It just gave me a good chuckle. Should I email you next time I pin your awesome outfits!
xoxo
oooh, I hope you get your cat!!! :)
The booger thing kinda grosses me out though. lol I have a kid that does that. I wouldn't want to have a cat doing that as well. lol
Evan is soo cute! Haha! Love your outfit as always.
this is such a great outfit. you make me miss my waist! But I love the pattern mix. oh, and the cat sounds adorable (if not contagious!).
Aw Evan is too cute! I want a cat so badly... :)
I have been loving all your skirts for the longest time. All modest and cute, and all skirts that I would totally wear to school.... I'm just beginning that stage. If you haven't realized yet, you are my favorite blogger. I love you style.
Sort of related, but this past weekend I visited my older sister, and met one of her friends. After saying goodbye, the first comment to my sister (who also reads your blog) was, didn't she look just like Elaine??? And her reply was, "I was just thinking that."
we talk about how we would wear skirts everywhere it we had some as cute as yours.

oh my goodness, cat shopping is the best! I used to volunteer at a shelter and I wanted to adopt them all!
i love the necklace!
Aaahh, he is so cute. My cat is cross-eyed too and he is the best! Also, I need to learn to french-braid like stat, because my bangs are starting to grow out and I have a feeling they'll annoy me pretty soon.
great pattern mixing. the stripes in your cardigan work well with the pattern of your skirt.
Absolutely love the skirt. It's so chic and has got so much character ;)
cute!
love the hair as well! too cute.
This is such a beautiful outfit! I absolutely love the pattern mixing!
That cat is adorable! Oh goodness. I don't think I would have been able to leave him.
