What's that on your head?

How do you like mah hurr? I don't really talk like that. I was inspired by Rebecca's crown braid. I wish "inspired" meant "the same as" but it doesn't because I'm incompetent when it comes to my hair, which is why it's always boring straight or wavy. Anyway, she has a tutorial here. Check it out. Try not to make me feel too stupid because I can't get it.

(Don't look too closely at my face. You'll see my bajillion pimples. I promise I'm 23....)

I chopped up my blue Gap dress and turned it into a new shirt because last night I realized I didn't have any blue t-shirts. What's wrong with me?

Now I'm off to gorge myself with all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ with Chase and my bro. I forgot to starve myself today. I guess I'll consider that "practice".. Not like I need it. (That's why I'm wearing BF jeans and a loose t-shirt... That's me...always planning ahead.)

How do you get the background fuzzed out? Is it something the camera does automatically, something you set it on? I'd really appreciate if you could let me know! I realize your busy, so I don't expect you to answer me in ten seconds! : )
    Have an amazing week!

WHAT! You chopped off your dress?! You crazy girl.

I can't follow hair tutorials for the life of me. One time I tried for so long to get the side braid, my eyes started hurting. Robert told me if I tried any longer, my eyes would stay like that...

  12. I think the crown braid is adorable Elaine! And kudos for even trying! I know my stick straight hair is allergic to braids and staying put. Korean BBQ - I've been craving that lately too!

  19. I think your hair looks adorable. Seriously, I tried like 10 times to recreate what I had originally done, and one of them came out like this. I thought "That's not the same, but it still looks really good." So I'd say this is a win!

I think your hair would've been better down but with your bangs braided like that :) Love the casual outfit, which I think goes so well with braids!

  23. Well I think you get brownie points just for trying. My solution to 'switch it up' is a beanie. Oh I know. Sooo creative hahah
And that pendant is goorgeous by the way

  24. I have attempted the crown braid many times with no success. So I'm heading over to the tutorial to attempt it again. I have also cut up my dresses to become shirts, it has surprised me that some of my dress's look better then shirts on me.

  25. Hi Elaine! I've been looking for a trench coat, and have noticed that you wear yours quite a bit. Do you have any recommendations for someone who is buying one? I'm debating about what color to get. I've found some that are khaki, black, tan which I love, but then I found one that is a really pretty shade of green. Is it better to stick with the neutral colors? Or is the pop of color a good option?

  26. I wish you talked like that. Kinda. I DO like your hair! Oh, and you are so beautiful with a smile!

  27. I like the side bun, I like the braid - I just don't like them together. Of course I am super hair untalented, so I don't know what's what.

  28. i like this look, i think you did it great! it's always nice to play around with your hair once in awhile...which is something that i never did when i had long hair and now i'm kicking myself for it! i was just going to mention too that in your last post your hair looks really long! are you planning on growing it out?

  31. LOVE the hair! Thanks for directing us to the tutorial, I'm definitely going to try this. And I totally understand the planning ahead for dinner with the outfit, I always work leggings into my outfit when I know there's a big dinner coming for a special occasion! They get expand with your belly!

Oh and I like that you cut your dress. I cut up this shirt/sweater thing the other day so it was just a black sweater because I realized I didn't have a black sweater! Which is pretty bizarre. And I can use it much more now.

  36. I am dreadful at doing my hair too - I usually end up pulling it out like 3 times, and then just thowing it in a pony out of pure frustration!!

  49. Way to go on the new lens! Woot woot! Your pictures look fab and I bet Chase is loving all the practice with it. I hope all is going well for you guys, especially at this winding down of the semester for him. Hopefully not to many lights-on-all-night-nights! P.S. You're beautiful and I love the side do. Miss you!

  50. For your friend, Elaine (if you don't mind):

The blur in the background is called bokeh and I love the way it works. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh You can achieve this effect with any camera (even a point and shoot) that has the ability to be set manually. The wider your aperature, the more bokeh you have in the background. Careful, though, as sometimes shooting at an aperture wider than f2 can cause blur on your subject's face as well.

  57. You're also at a serious advantage being in LA since it's basically a mini-Seoul. You'll have your choice of digi-perm experts!
