Today's outfit was one of those that look amazing in your head but then once you put it on and take a picture of it, you want to burn your clothes. But definitely not my J Brands...and my white button-down...and I guess Chase's sweater...might as well save my cheap flats too. That was how I felt all day today. I should probably stop wearing men's clothes... I'm sure my husband would appreciate it if I looked like a girl more often.

It may sound ridiculous but I can get pretty obsessed about how I look and, more importantly, feel in my clothes and if it doesn't feel right, I have to change. But since I was already at work, I had to make do with what I had...which were the clothes on my back. So I nixed Chase's sweater, undid a few buttons, rolled up my sleeves, tied the ends of my shirt and put my hair up in a quick pony. Do any of you ever feel like that? Am I the only crazy one? And if you are crazy like me, what do you usually do? Do you just settle or do you try to change a few things to "update" your look?

I'm wearing my husband's H&M sweater ($20), Gap button-up ($12), J Brand jeans ($158 - buy it!), and flats from the Philippines ($7).
Nice transformation. I hate it when I don't think my look is working, it ruins my whole day.
ReplyDeleteI live close so sometimes I go home at lunch and change. LOL! So, no you aren't the only one. I like both outfits.
ReplyDeleteOooh, that's smart!
ReplyDeleteI am SO GLAD I'm not the only one! If my outfit is off enough, I'll go home and change. But I always always keep an "everything" sweater and an extra pair of shoes in my car just in case :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
ReplyDeleteHaha yes I get that all too frequently. But I have to say that I love the way you worked over the outfit to improve it! The first look was fine, but the second is super cute.
ReplyDeleteyes! i totally do the same thing. today the problem was my hair though...i must have changed my hair 5 times until i had my husbands shears in my hand and thought about going GI jane...i decided to just walk away. i think it's time for a haircut.

ReplyDeleteI love how you tied the shirt at the bottom. That's so cute, I'm going to do that sometime.
ReplyDeleteFor my dress I used pattern Newlook 6723. Thanks for saying you liked it, that means a lot!
I love the tied shirt and the cute flats!

I am the same way. I get really distracted if I don't like the way I look! I try to pick out clothes ahead of time but it doesn't always work out right so I end up playing dress up and being late!
ReplyDeleteI am the same way. If I don't feel good in what I am wearing, then I HAVE to change. This usually makes me late to wherever I am going... Gotta figure out what to do about that..
ReplyDeletei LOVE this outfit! its so fresh ahhh amazing x

ReplyDeleteyou're not crazy, I get like that too.
ReplyDeleteHaha update look :) nice thing to call it LOL (Woah. I haven't 'LOL'ed in awhile!)
ReplyDeleteI like both of the 'outfits'! But, then again, I like to wear men's clothing too! :) Beware the man that marries me!
Awesome way to mix it up!
ReplyDeleteI understand the feeling of being uncomfortable in an outfit; I'll have to try something along these lines next time that happens!
sewdysfunctional.blogspot.com
i know exactly how you feel. I'll change my outfit if it doesn't feel right; ya gotta feel good to look good right?
ReplyDeleteI also wonder how my boyfriend feels when I take his things and wear them...hahaha
Anyway, I like both outfits too! Simple and Clean. =)

I would've never thought of that!! You're a genius!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHehe I feel the same way! If I don't like my outfit, I can't leave the house or I'm just super cranky all day. I love how you did a quick change in the bathroom though! Your second look is more feminine! I think you should try wearing your shirt like that with a spring-y skirt when Spring rolls around :)
ReplyDeleteelaine i love this! it's so cute. and i love how you tied the shirt at the bottom.

ReplyDeleteI like this outfit! You look great in Chase's sweater. I do a few tweaks here and there to make me feel more comfortable, so no, you're not crazy. It's usually me swapping shoes, that usually does the trick.

ReplyDeleteLove the last updated outfit and i'm totally like you i get obssessed with the way i look especially when i'm not comfortable in that outfit

I love both of those outfits! And no. You're not crazy. I feel like that almost every day. I change up my outfit as SOON as I can so I am comfortable!
ReplyDeleteYou look so cute in your j brand jeans and your white button up!! Love it. ♥ xo.

ReplyDeleteOh, I love how you revised the look! When I'm wearing what I feel is a dud, I usually just bear with it till I can get back home and throw my pj pants back on. lol I like your idea much better!
ReplyDeleteYou are too hard on yourself! You look darling in both looks!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing worse than leaving the house and hating what you have on - I've always just settled and never thought about switching it up mid-day. I'll have to try that next time I'm feeling blahhh about what I'm wearing!
ReplyDeleteI definitely feel like that from time to time. I can't stand to be seen wearing something I'm not comfortable in or that I don't think represents me well. I think you looked great in the first outfit though, but I really like how you tied the shirt in the second look.

This is why it takes me 7 years to get dressed for church every Sunday. Nothing ever FEELS right. I hate that.
ReplyDeleteYou look darling.

i actually think the menswear trends are really flattering on you because you are SO slender and feminine! but i know exactly what you mean--if an outfit doesn't feel right, i feel uncomfortable all day.
ReplyDeletei think both versions are terrific, but i agree with you that the rolled up shirt and ponytail are really cute--kind of 50's, no?
love the outfit.. very classic and totally suits you!! looking good as usual!! xoxoj
ReplyDeleteI think the outfit looks great, it just needs a statement necklace!
ReplyDeletehttp://dontworrylauraishere.blogspot.com/
I love the look, its a good look to change throughout the day. I need to get changed at least twice... which often poses a problem at work, but when I do something after I def have to change... even if its just down to the supermarket :)
ReplyDeleteLove ur blog

"In theory" outfits that don't turn out as planned are the WORST! Especially when you have 10 minutes to get out of the house and are at a loss for a new outfit. Good save though!
ReplyDeleteWhere's that bag from in the bathroom shot? (That sounds awkward). I think I really like it.

I like the "updated" verson! I totally understand what your talking about. If i don't feel completely comfortable in my outfit i usually try to change things around a bit.
ReplyDeletei completely know what you mean! it is so important for me to feel comfortable and love my outfit. i will change it up, too, but not nearly as drastically as you cause i wouldn't have thought of all that. very craft.
ReplyDeleteYour original outfit looked great! I always long for boxy, menswear looks but they predictably add about 10 pounds to my curvy frame. You, on the other hand, should celebrate being petite and milk this look for all it's worth. You look great!
ReplyDeleteWell I love both versions of the outfit! But I know what you mean...I hate when stuff doesn't look the way I imagined it!! so annoying
ReplyDeletehttp://www.closet-fashionista.com/
I definitely like the 2nd better but the first is cute too :)
ReplyDeleteI am the same, if I don't feel right in my outfit. I just have to change it somehow. I am happy to know I am not the only one to do it :)
ReplyDeletesuper cute fix!
ReplyDeleteI know that feeling....allllllllll too well.
as usual...made me laugh out loud.
your updates look great. funny what a few little changes can do to pick up an outfit. i do it too when i'm not loving how i feel about my clothes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous that you can pull off your husband's clothes.
ReplyDeleteOkay, that sounded bad.
I'm so jealous that you can pull off WEARING your husband's clothes. Haha.
Totally expands the wardrobe.

no need to stop wearing men's clothes when you look good in it. love the white top tied at the bottom. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay girl, I loved the first try with the outfit! You look so good with mens wear! I heart it. And your second redo. . . I fell even more in love! You're chic. The end.
ReplyDeletei love your flats(=
ReplyDeletehttp://vikkibabbey.blogspot.com
i like both looks and good work on changing it up last minute! you totally rock mens wear.
ReplyDeletecute and little
I get what you mean, I have to like what I wear because thats what makes me confident. I like the after picture =) Those flats look like Tory Burch flats! =)
ReplyDeleteBellesme
You looked much more like Elaine after the change.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I update as I go. Sometimes I just pull on a sweater-coat and call it good. Sometimes I just feel like a dude all day and nothing can be done besides trying to walk more sexy-like so people don't actually mistake me for a man.
ReplyDeleteHaha! I had a similar problem today... which is why I had to figure out how to make it more feminine!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100% I feel this way constantly. I love the way you fixed it up. Very laid back.
ReplyDeleteI am totally the same!! People can tell me I look good and even my husband can tell me he likes the outfit, but if I don't feel good about it then I have to change! Its seriously an obsession!!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you changed it! I liked it the first way too....just maybe with a big statement necklace or belted!

I think you look so cute, but I totally know what your mean I have to change if it doesn't feel right, otherwise it drives me nuts all day.
ReplyDeleteI feel you! ... I have to FEEL ok in what I'm wearing, doesn't matter if people say it looks fine, if I don't feel it, I end up changing outfits! ... though think it looks great, simple yet chic!

Love the updated look. The first one was a little too manish. Ooh look a new word! once I'm dressed for the day I pretty much go with it. But I can also spend forever tryng to find the right clothes that feel right. If doesn't feel good then it's a goner for sure.
ReplyDeleteDid you just call me a man....
ReplyDeleteI love both!

I'm the same way. If I don't feel right in an outfit I can't wear it. I went on an over night trip, and forgot my shirt would fit anymore after losing 40lbs. I just didn't think. Thank goodness I packed an extra shirt. It was a plain black shirt I brought to sleep in but at least was fitted. I have issues with clothes. Also, now after seeing this post I want black skinnies instead of boot cut dress pants.
ReplyDeleteMy Heart Blogged
no i totally understand what you're saying. i love both looks though.
ReplyDeletei definitely get tired of looks midday. usually the only thing i can do at work is throw my hair back in a pony and pretend it looks different. it doesn't. but i feel better inside. that's the real victory. right?
Honestly I never did it, but that's just cause I'm not creative! Love how you transformed the outfit, it totally looks like a different one!
ReplyDeleteI love both looks to be honest although the small detail of the shirt laced down is so cute!
ReplyDeleteso chic! I almost never wear black, but it is obviously very chic way to go.
ReplyDeletehttp://work-it-blog.blogspot.com/
Love the casualness of the white tied shirt - just goes to show, don't need something fancy, just CLASSY :)
ReplyDeleteKristin
No, you're not alone. I totally do the same thing if I get to work and i'm like WHAT was I thinking? But I love love both of your outfits. I thnk they both look very classy.
ReplyDeleteI do this alll the time! However, I don't usually end up finding something I 'feel' good in, because my closet is VERY limited.
ReplyDeleteAnd I defs like your second outfit better, though the first is not completely without merrit!
OMG. I totally have those moments. My boyfriend thinks I am crazy when I insist that I have to change or something because the outfit didn't work out the way I had thought in my head. But it totally makes me feel off and down all day. I don't know why outfits don't translate from my head to reality. Maybe because I am 5'10" and 100 pounds in my head? :) Love how you transitioned the outfit. Talent!
ReplyDeleteLove your boyish allure !
ReplyDeleteyour blog is a great discover !
xx
I get that feeling a lot. Usually I just tie up my hair like you do, in a loose bun or or a ponytail...and then if I really really hate what I wear I take off the jacket/cardigan/sweater and wear my back up sweater, which I keep in my drawer at work. :)
ReplyDeleteI've felt that way but usually haven't been able to pull off an outfit change while already at work.
