Breakin da rules x2

This is what I wore to church today...which is why my skirt is super wrinkled...and I don't iron...ever...okay...maybe like once every couple of months...I do it all at once...too many elipses?...possibly...okay...yes...I'll stop...starting.......now.

I haven't worn this skirt as much because I don't know what to wear it with. The teal is pretty but it's a hard color for me to work with...like brown...and purple. So the past two times I've worn this skirt I mixed it with blue! I'm starting to think my stupid rule of not pairing similar colors together is bologna...and I hate bologna!

Also, I popped my collar....and I like it. I think it certifies this as an official rule breaking outfit post x2.

  1. This is a pretty skirt. I think I'd have a lot of trouble trying to find shoes to "match" would black shoes be too harsh?

  5. Love this outfit! Monochromatic outfits totally work... oh and PS. I love bologna... is that weird?

  6. Yup - definitely cute. Good thing we're not in the same ward or I would be taking notes on what you're wearing, asking you where you got it, ... rather than paying attention :)

  9. Cute. I just brought a shirt like that at JCPenny's, so I will probably be stealing some of your ideas on what to wear it with :)

  11. The colour of that skirt is amazing! I have a top with a similar colour and I always end up wearing it with jeans or white pants.

  12. Don't you know that popped collars are only bad when paired with puka shell necklaces?

  13. The color of that skirt is amazing. I would wear it with yellow, lavender, white, or light pink. Ooooooo and with crisp whites and bright reds for summer.

  14. I love it when you break a rule and the final result is amazing; absolutely love this outfit so classy and efortless. I'm getting dressed and i might go for the light washed denim shirt too:)))

  15. I love this teal skirt! I'd probably pair it with black or white, or some jewel tones, or something like a yellow? I love it with the denim though.
I'm glad you don't iron either, now I don't feel so bad about posting photos on my blog of me wearing a very wrinkled skirt to church today! (The sad part is I actually did iron, just not good enough apparently...)

  17. Man, this outfit is super cute. I know mixing two shades of the same color is supposed to be a no-no, but with these two I think it works just perfectly, and that skirt is so adorable, a great twist on a classic pencil skirt. And those shoes! Love them! I just want all the pieces you are wearing.

You could pair it with purple too and that way you knock out how to wear purple and teal, haha :D

  23. Way to work that popped collar! It looks great. as for the teal skirt, I bet it would look great with white, black, and yellow. Like maybe a white shirt with citrus stripes, which is pretty big right now. Maybe...

  24. Such a gorgeous look! I agree pairing brown is hard, I have many brown items that never get their way out, but you totally did teal great! Don't hate on bologna, one of my besties, just ask my wide hips!

I think that skirt would go so well with a crisp white shirt! It also works really well with the color of your shoes :) I love seeing you in bright colors! Since I started blogging, I've begun to realize there are no real rules in fashion--they just get in the way :)

  30. I love your monochromatic look! I've been craving a lot of solid colors/similar colors lately. Just beautiful!

  32. You look lovely, and you're inspiring me to find a brightly-colored skirt. I've seen them, but never been so brave. How do you feel about thrifted shoes? I can't bring myself to even look at them, unless you have a tip for disinfecting them.

  33. I'm surprised that one of your fashion rules is not pairing similar colors. I think different shades of the same color can look sophisticated and polished.

Brown+Pink (or Red or Cream)= Fabulous!

Purple+Black (or Orange or White)= Awesomeness (but people might also think you are a witch)

But you know, any way YOU do it will be magnificent.

  34. Very cute outfit! I think you can pull off that popped collar look-not just for rappers anymore.

And I barely iron too. What I've learned to do is take all my things that are wrinkled and hang them up while I shower. Usually the heat from my shower is enough to straighten my clothes out! I read it in a magazine and it has changed my life. Hopefully this helps out! =)

  35. Iron? What is that? We certainly don't know around our house, last time we needed it it took us two days to hunt it down. But the outfit is a good one, the blue is a great contrast!

  36. Teal looks great on you! And you could always pair it with brown or beige. I find that teal goes really well with those colors.

Oh and I love the simplicity of this outfit! Very cute. :)

  37. I like the monochromatic outfit. I don't pair the same colors together often, well unless black counts. This makes me want to pair like colors together more often. I don't iron anything. I throw everything in the dryer, then make a mad dash to hang it up. Or I re-throw it in the dryer, and waste electricity to get my wrinkles out.

  39. Love it! ♥
The panel at the waist is a particularly gorgeous detail and I love the twinkle of white thanks to your necklace.

You make me feel like a rule breaker but I seriously have to learn to do something other than pairing shades of the same colour - it 's my go to.
