Chase and I aren't football fans. We took a five hour nap instead and tried to avoid all football talk on the interwebz. Jocks are overrated. Marry a nerd, ladies...a sexy nerd.

This is what I wore to church today. I kind of like it. The waistband on this skirt isn't fitted and my shirt is voluminous so I had to tuck and re-tuck. It would have been easier just to lift my skirt up and pull my shirt down but then people would see my thighs in all their glory...and they are glorious.

I've been feeling like a Debbie Downer lately - probably why I haven't liked my outfits. I gained a little weight recently. It happens when you sit and eat free food all day. AND I am allergic to this new face stuff I've been using and keep breaking out and getting rashes around my eyes. Needless to say I haven't felt pretty in a while. But I want to focus on the positive... What do you love about yourself right now? I love that I've been more social and talkative lately. I love my humor even if other people don't get it. Most importantly, I love Chase for reminding me how beautiful I am every day.

I'm wearing a Love Stitch blouse ($4), Forever 21 necklace ($8), Forever 21 skirt (gift from my sister-in-law), and JCPenney shoes (free with gift cards) with a thrifted purse ($4).

Buy: red bow heels, shirt
Your shoes are adorable. Truly. I like your not-quite-fitted outfit. It's cute! And looks super comfortable, too.
ReplyDeleteI love my hair :). Especially when Curtis plays with it.
Lindsey Soup
I've been down lately too, I'm glad to see you've decided to focus on the positive. That is my goal of the week! P.S. Love your outfit, especially the shoes!
ReplyDeleteI love my hair lately. I'm growing it out to donate it and it's longer than it has been in years, and I'm kind of in love. I could bum on all the stuff that's gone south on me lately, but there's too much I can love in others to spend so much time hating on myself. I do find the time, some days, don't get me wrong.
ReplyDeleteI think this whole Debby downer thing is in the air lately because I've caught it too. I think it is time for summer already! I love your outfit, so cute. I just can't get enough of those ruby slippers! love, love, love. Plus that is just a great black skirt!
ReplyDeleteYou always look so beautiful, but I know how you feel I've been feeling the same lately :(
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore your skirt, it's so romantic and classy, I just love it.

I'm sorry you're in a down slump. This is going to sound super corny but that song "favorite things" from "the sound of music" is such a pick me up (along with 90s boy band music - don't judge). music in general can affect your mood. maybe you have a happy song and don't realize it.
ReplyDeletequestion for you: where do you purchase your love stitch clothing? i live in la as well and have gone to their site but i guess i'm not genius enough to figure out where to buy their clothes.
thanks and hope you feel better soon!
great outfit, fresh with the pop of red - those shoes seem to look amazing with anything you wear!
ReplyDeleteI've put on some weight, too, and sometimes it makes me feel less pretty and upset when my clothes don't fit the way they used to. I'm blessed like you tough, to have a man who tells me I'm beautiful every day even if I don't always see it myself. I love my hair though :) It's the one thing that never puts on weight and always looks shiny and bright ^^
you look gorgeous as always, i don't know what you're talking about! and you don't look like you've gained any weight at all!
ReplyDeleteFashion Bag 411
You look cute as always, that's a very nice outfit and I adore the shoes! What I love about myself right now is that my skin looks fresh and glowing even in the midst of winter, and I too have a husband that tells me I look beautiful no matter what:)
ReplyDeletelovely outfit. ehhh i'm not sure what i love about myself right now. it's been a crap weekend so my self esteem isn't very up there. i hope it'll be up after i do this mini presentation for one of my classes though. wish i had a better answer!
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and share your love for silly humor :D
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit too!
Love your hair like this.. and the outfit is fabulous! I feel okay at the moment, but honestly can't think about something which I specifically love about myself right now.
ReplyDeleteBows and Pearls
Lovely simple outfit. I love the changes I am making in my life at the moment :)
ReplyDeleteSuper sunday with super pretty outfit!
ReplyDeleteyou look so elegant, and you look pretty with the curly hair.
ReplyDeletelove yur skirt! :)
Well, all that tucking was definitely worth it, because you look amazing in this outfit! I would really love to get a pleated skirt like this one for my own closet....so let the search begin!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I think I've seen these heels a lot lately, but I can't get enough of them! You're really giving Dorothy a run for her money :P!
You look completely lovely as always. And you are beautiful...Chase is perfectly right!
ReplyDeleteI've been super stressed recently and that isn't helping my teenage like acne... I feel your pain.
ReplyDeleteI love my smile (when BF coaxes it out of me) I know I look better when I smile but, it has to be for real.
Extremely cute outfit... but your shoes wins my vote - they are adorable!
ReplyDeleteYou look great to me! But yeah I know how you feel. I hate when I go through those phases. Nothing seems to look good. You will come out of it soon!
ReplyDeleteI love that I can just jam out and be goofy in public and not care what people think. Bust out a move in the parking on the way into the restaurant? No problem. Hubby and I are silly and it keeps us laughing and I live that about me (and us)
ReplyDeleteLuv your look!

Damn you Elaine! I visit your blog and I want everything you wear - and - SOB! I'm on a self-imposed shopping ban. It's only day 7 and I'm cracking.
ReplyDeleteMoral of the story: Either I stop visiting your blog or rush out and buy that absolutely cute skirt. Hmmmm....now, where's my credit card?
P.S.Cute top and shoes too. And you're solely responsible for me hankering for a pair of sandals in the middle of sub-zero winter. Keep up the good work!
Aww, Elaine you still look pretty and fashionable as always to me! I hope you get out of your funk soon.
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is beautiful Elains, and so are you! You look great and I always think your hair is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI have been feeling a bit down myself lately, but I try to remind myself that I just need to snap out of it!
great outfit, as always, and i love your sense of humor too! it's what has me coming back to your blog day after day. :)
ReplyDeleteas for me, i'm so grateful for the fact that i have such supportive people around me, from my boyfriend to my friends and family. they all keep me grounded when things get rough.
so glad to hear you had an awesome Superbowl Sunday!
cute and little
i love the black-and-white-and-pop-of-color thing you've had going on for a few weeks now. you always look so sophisticated and the color combination really suits you.
ReplyDeletei love everything about this outfit, i want it!! im with you on the football thing, we actually recorded it, but only to fast forward through the game to watch the funny commercials:)
ReplyDeleteSomething I love is that I got accepted into an Academicly Advanced Program at my school. Plus Im only in 6th grade so, yep!
ReplyDeleteI've had so many allergic reactions this year (on my eye area also!)and I know how awful it feels. I'm so sorry you are going through that too. If it helps, you look just as beautiful as you do everyday and you wear the cutest outfits. You are an inspiration to so many, don't ever forget that!
ReplyDeleteI've been feeling the same way! It's freezing here in Chicago and all I've been doing is eating, gaining weight and feeling uninspired to dress up.
ReplyDeleteright now you should love yourself for finding that purse!!!! i love seeing what people find at thrift stores.
ReplyDeleteI think this outfit is just pretty. I love the pairing of a pretty blouse and a pretty skirt!
ReplyDeleteyou looked really cute yesterday. that blouse is pretty great. i know what you mean about being down..could it be this time of year? i feel like everyone i know is in a weird slump. wish i knew how to get out of it. hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI was going to write about how the same thing is happening to me right now. But, you asked what I love about myself right now. I love how kind I am, that I have stayed committed to blogging everyday for 4 months now, that I'm going back to college in the summer, and most of all that I know what I do for a living or the things I own don't define me as a person.
ReplyDeleteMy Heart Blogged
When I get feeling down it always makes me feel better to wear an outfit I'm really happy about and that adorable skirt and blouse combination you're wearing would just do the trick!

My mood is a result of the weather and too much snow and ice and not being able to get out as much. I'm happy that I found your blog 'cause because of you I now have some pretty new shoes that I saw on your site and discovered shoeclipz.biz which is an awesomely fun site. And you are adorable and if you've gained any weight it sure doesn't show. Be kind to yourself.
ReplyDeleteI love that despite all the challenges, I am still a confident woman. I know I've got a great big test ahead of me, but I'm not panicking and I'm preparing well and I've got it (mostly) under control. That and my bangs. LOVE my bangs :)
ReplyDeleteYou don't look like you've gained anything! You always look soo fabulous and put together. I love that I can fit into my pre-baby jeans!
ReplyDeleteI hope you feel better about yourself soon. *hugs* and you look lovely here.
ReplyDeleteA perfect skirt!!
ReplyDeleteYou're gorgeous! You do look so pretty in all your outfits.
ReplyDeleteI like the skirt so much. I have a pleated skirt, and have been thinking about what to wear it with.

Chase is a great hubby, but it's easy work reminding you that you're pretty (beautiful, from his perspective of course). The truth should be easy to remember.
ReplyDeleteYou two should have watched the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet. You get to enjoy the cuteness without having to clean up after them.
Love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what I love about myself XDXD
http://aclosetfashionista.blogspot.com/
It's so funny to hear you saying how you feel when I'm thinking "wow, she looks immaculate, how come I never look that polished?"
ReplyDeleteOur own perceptions get the better of us, every time. Hope you feel better soon!

You're crazy! You always look beautiful :) I'm glad you have Chase to remind you!
ReplyDeleteWhat do I love about myself right now?
I've become more optimistic :) And... I can write a fully-researched essay in two hours or less (including the research) and still get 95% :P (Years of procrastination really helped out.)
arrrgh! ive been feeling the same way lately... the few extra pounds, a zit and constant rain will do that!! Aren't we lucky to have great husbands though :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I must admit your outfit is so pretty, no reason to feel down :)
debbie downer moments come and go. i went and got a haircut during my last one. why don't you go for a different kind of product for your face? i like to use natural substances on my face.
ReplyDelete~newscutouts
Pure class. Get it, girl.
ReplyDeleteRight now, the thing I am loving about myself is my resilience. I get down and thrown off, but I always find a way to bounce back.
Lovely outfit! very classy :)
ReplyDeleteWe all have those days/weeks/months...I hope you cheer up soon! :)
ReplyDeleteI love my...well, a lot of things right now. I ran a half marathon this fall so after training all summer I'm pretty happy with myself. I feel good. Plus, I have really accepted the way my body is right now, small boobs, big butt, the whole package! haha!
You look fantastic in this outfit! So classic and put together.
ReplyDelete"marry a nerd, ladies .. a sexy nerd"
ReplyDeletethis is the best quote ever! and i love this look. :)
Lovely outfit, Elaine! I love your guy advice. I have my fingers crossed in hopes that I will soon meet my nerd in geeky glasses. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your humor too...some people may not get it but a dry sense of humor is a good thing. Someone once told me that a dry sense of humor shows that you are intelligent - so there you go, funny and smart!
ReplyDeleteYou look frilly and beautiful in this. And Chase sounds like the perfect husband with his naps and his compliments. Hang on to him - he's a keeper. :-)
ReplyDeleteA splash of color is always great-nice touch!
ReplyDeleteI have a skirt so much like this. Great minds think alike!
