Pompom Thingies

Thank you for all your nice words about our car yesterday. It feels better now that we dropped $400 we didn't have. I could've bought McDonald's for a whole month with that money.

Speaking of cars, I bought this shirt last night!!! Isn't it pretty?? It's because I'm wearing it. I love the little crocheted pompom things. As you guys know, I don't particularly love shopping. I'm so picky it's hard to find things I really love. But I really love this shirt...like I-just-realized-I-really-like-you-and-I-want-to-go-steady-with-you-and-maybe-get-married-and-I-guess-have-some-kids-or-something love.

I'm wearing a Love Stitch blouse ($4), Old Navy belt ($10), Forever 21 skirt ($6), Target tights (gift from my sister-in-law), Forever 21 boots ($16), and JCPenney bag (free with gift cards).

  5. I adore that top and lace tights! They add just the right amount of whimsy to this neutral look.

And sorry to hear about your car. :( Don't these sort of things always come up when you don't have the cash? I think it's like, law of nature or something.

  8. oooh!!! I love that shirt! I bought one from anthropologie in nyc a few weeks ago (it was on sale... the only way I can buy stuff there) but I can't figure out how to wear it. It's cute on the hanger, though.

  30. You don't have to post this. I was trying to find a way to message you privately, but can't find one.

I just wanted to thank you. I'm a new mom and I felt like I was stuck in my mommy uniform--jeans, shirt, tennies. Nothing else seemed practical for hauling around or running after a growing boy. Shopping was no longer fun and I no longer felt cute or distinctive.

Last night, I went shopping at Kohl's and came across the clearance jewelry. I found necklaces for $3 and earrings for $5 and I felt like I was able to pick up the quirky, interesting pieces and put them together in a fun way--because of all of the inspiration you've posted. I actually had fun and I got home and was really excited about what I could come up with the next morning.

I'm in my mommy uniform now--black T, dark jeans, white tennies, but I have some crazy earrings and a fun twisty hairstyle that makes me feel fun and a little sexy again.

Thank you for putting yourself out there, even on the days when you don't feel inspired. You've made fashion fun and possible for me again, and I feel like I've grown through being a mom to being a little me again too. I don't have to be trendy and look good in the trends. I can just be me--basic with some flashy pieces that no one else would really consider.

I'll probably thank you again in the future. But thanks for the fun you helped me have. I can be clothed and covered and secure in my new body, because things have changed since having a kid, but I can feel fun and unpredictable and a little sexy too.

I love, love, love your blog. LOVE IT!!! Don't go away ever!!! Kate Jones

  32. What a great outfit and I love the simplicity of it. The little details make such a difference to the overall look. I know how hard it can be to shop for the perfect item, but it's awesome that you don't have to spend a lot of money on something so unique like that blouse! =)
