Got this ModCloth chainletter dress in the mail last night from Sydney. It's been going around the fashion blogosphere from Starr to Rosie to Beatrice to Maria to Quincy to Dalena Vintage to Annie to Tania to Sydney and now to MEMEME!!!! I'm handing it off to Kristine on Tuesday because she's coming to L.A. and I figured I might as well save $10 on shipping.
What do you guys think of the dress? Personally, I don't like it. It's cute but it's not my style and I would never buy it with real money but it was fun to have something different and not me in my closet and style it for a day. I tried to make it as Elaine as possible. Did I Elaine it?

I had to belt it to avoid making it look like a potato sack on me and I think it just made me look pregnant...or maybe it's because I was leaning and sticking my belly out. (That's how rumors get started.) (I think I just started my own rumor. Not sure which one. I'm either fat or pregnant.)

Last night to enter the $25 Smashion giveaway! Jump on it. Sir Mix-A-Lot style.

I'm wearing a Love Stitch blouse ($4), DownEast Basics shirt underneath (gift from my mother-in-law - buy it!), ModCloth dress (c/o ModCloth), thrifted belt ($1), and Seychelles shoes ($15).

the mary janes are so cute!
You look good in the photos, but I'm not a really big fan of the way the dress looks >.< It looks like something a little girl would wear - I think it's the collar and big pockets.

The dress is totally different from your average style but I think it still looks great. Way to style the dress to make it your own. =)
I think this dress and outfit looks ADORABLE on you; but if you don't feel comfortable or yourself in it, than it's best that it isn't yours. Nevertheless, you did a wonderful job styling it. You look very pretty as usual ;)

Hahahaha, I'm not going to kill you, Bellesme! You're so funny.
Its so cute! You look like a little schoolgirl =) Please don't kill me for saying that =D I don't think you Elained it that much, because its too "young" for you (I DO NOT mean that you are old!) I like how you wore it though, I think the shirt is nice, and the belt looks great with it!
Bellesme
You're pregnant?! Congratulations! JK! haha. Ok, that was lame.
But seriously, you and Chase are gonna have some cuuuuute babies one day.
Even though this dress isn't your style, you totally rocked it (and don't look fat or pregnant AT ALL).

I like the idea of a travelling dress..but to be honest, it isn't my style either! But you made it look a lot like you with the white shirt underneath! I would have styled it in a similar way!
And those shoes are made for the dress :)
I really like the way your styled it! You made it much cuter than it actually is.

You don't look either fat or pregnant. It's fun to see you in an item you wouldn't normally wear and see how you've styled it. Love it with the tan accents.
this dress is just amazing :)
looks lovely on you

You ARE! Can't wait to "meet" you tomorrow... and to see you style the Kristine out of this dress!
Woohoo, so glad to save you a couple bucks! I'm such a great blog friend. And I love the dress on you - you made it very pretty and feminine!
Love that blouse. I like the dress, and it isn't my everyday style either but it would be a fun springy change.
This is so not your style but you managed to make it look cute by adding the belt and shoes. I prefer your taste in clothes so much more. But you'd probably look cute in anything.
SCORE!!!! #2 Commenter! I normally end up at the bottom of the heap....=)
You totally Elained the crap outta this dress...it looks great with your pom-pom thingie shirt (which I love)
That dress looks so cute on you! I love the shirt underneath and the belt!
It may not be your style, but I would totally rock that outfit! :) I really like the blouse you wore under the dress. So pretty.
Even though you don't particularly like the dress, you really do look wonderful. My favorite part are the mary jane heels. I've been looking for something like them!!
xL
I LOVE IT ON YOU! it's my favorite styling of the dress so far. A+, elaine!
Aww, thanks, Brandilyn!!!!
Thanks for being honest AND nice at the same time. I like my taste in clothes too ;).
Hahahaha, you're probably right. As a woman who's never been pregnant before, I get a little over dramatic when I see a "bump"....
It's cute but it's definitely not your aesthetic/style if you get what I mean. it's too alice in wonderland-esque!
Yeah, it's too cutesy vintage for me... It was fun channeling Alice for a day though!
Oh my gosh. I LOVE ModCloth!! Their clothes are so expensive - I wish I had about a million dollars to spend there though.
I agree that this dress is a bit 'little girl' cutsie for your usual simple yet classic style, but it's fun for one day! I think you 'Elained' it very well.
BTW, when you actually are 8 months pregnant, come back and read this post, see just how pregnant you think you look. Hun, you are adorable, and don't look pregnant in the least!
Where did you get those shoes? I just might need some. I agree - the dress doesn't seem to by your usual style. It looks fine on you, but I like your other outfits better. However, this dress would be way cute on a little toddler, don't you think?
That's what I thought when I saw it!!!!!!!
I got my shoes at the Overstock.com warehouse in Salt Lake City. Warehouses are the best...
Honestly, I think you wore it best out of everyone!!! It's not a dress I see you typically wearing, but I think it looks SO great on you! :)
Thanks so much, Annie!!
what you and Kristine get to hang out? now i'm super jealous. and the dress wouldn't be anything i'd buy either, but you made it look darling. i love that blouse!
How adorable! The perfect Sunday dress :)

New to your blog. I love this vintage look. Where did these shoes? Ive been looking for them for a while.
I got my shoes at the Overstock.com warehouse in Salt Lake City. Warehouses are the best...
Yes dear, you Elained the mess out of that dress. We'll pretend that makes sense. And that Elaine is a verb. I think we should all use our names as verbs. Ok, now I've gotta go Ramsey a paper.
Hahahah, yes, we should...
So cute! I love ModCloth, but they are just so expensive! And I'm a broke college student, haha.
It was fun to see how you styled this dress, even though it isn't your usual style.
I think the dress looks adorable! Even though it is so not your style, you did a great job styling it! I have to say, the dress is totally my style though. :)
~Ashley
I think it looks cute on you, but if its not your style you'd never feel comfortable in it....what a cool idea to pass along a dress. Love the belt with it!

This looks great on you :)
LOVELY. I am in love with this outfit!
I don't like the dress in the least, but at least you styled it pretty cute :)
that dress is the ulitimate cutest. i am glad i found your blog
i think you totally "Elained" the dress and i enjoyed seeing how the different bloggers styled the dress!
cute and little
enter my The Vintage Scarf giveaway!
I really like it, but that kind of dress is my style. ModCloth can send it my way!
First off, I think you look ADORABLE. And I love this look. You have definitely Elained it! As for pregnant? Pshaw! Not a tad! Nor fat! I know what it is to be bumpified, this is not it! You just look darling. ;-)
much love: kimberellie (with a baby in her belly)
I think you made it your own. Especially because you have been loving the shirt you have under it lately. It would make me look super preggers. Me, and empire waists are not bff's.
My Heart Blogged
I think you pulled it off well! :D I love the way you belted the dress and paired it with those shoes (which are so so so adorable).
- Caroline (http://keepcalmandstyleon.blogspot.com)
I think the dress looks really cute! And you don't look fat or pregnant so don't worry :)
you definitely elaine-d it--i love the belt and shoes with it. i agree, not really my style dress--so big and poofy and pastoral, but you did it up beautifully!
p.s. thank you for linking everyone so prominently in the opening line. i just want to say: i love you and am so appreciative of what an amazing networker you are and the way that you always create community and link to people so generously!! you are an example to all bloggers! xoxoxo
i love the details on the collar! such an adorable outfit.
i'm really glad i found your blog. so cute. following for sure :)
Stuff like this (and the Delightful Dozen) are some of my favorite features in the fashion blogging world. I love seeing how many different ways one item can be worn and for me it helps me keep the wallet away and re-work what I've got. And THAT is exactly why I started following blogs instead of reading fashion magazines.. Thanks for your awesome hard work on this blog!!
I like how you wore the dress with that pretty blouse. Your shoes are adorable too! :)
Check out my blog: Principessa Gabriella
Aw, I love the dress! I think you look great.
I love how you combined this rather formal shirt with a casual dress. You look adorable! You are one of the first fashion blogs that I started reading and following! Actually you have opened the door to a new fashion blogger and reader( with my best friend!).Thank you so much for your great tips and your awesome posts! I look forward to more!
It is just very babydoll. Cute but doesn't fit your sophisticated style.
what a cute dress, i love the neckline detail
is it true it's like a size xxl? that's what syd said but i couldn't tell if she was being serious or not.
Yes, it's maybe not your style but you look so sweet in!
not craazy about the dress but i think you wore it best out of everyone ;)
you're just darling in whatever you wear! looooove the shoes!
I do agree that it's not your usual style, but you styled it really well! And the dress is so cute :) x
I agree, its not Elaine, BUT you made it Elaine with the way you wore it!! :D YAY :D
http://www.closet-fashionista.com/
its definitely not 'Elaine' but i like seeing a softer look on you... i am in love with that blouse, btw. the way you styled up the dress over it is super cute
http://sartorialme.blogspot.com
Haha you don't look fat or pregnant so rock the dress as best as you can! :) And you did Elaine it! The belt says so! Haha!
I don't think you look pregnant... I think it's a little Hansel and Gretel or something. Definitely not the usual Elaine but it's always nice to step out of box, right?

Aw! Don't you look fabulous, girl? Love it! ♥ xo.
it's a large
I actually love the dress on your Elaine.. :D I like how you styled it with that gorgeous blouse.. hmmm I think I'm in love with the blouse more than the dress. hehe.
