Today I went to a Banana conference. What's a banana? Bananas are yellow on the outside...white on the inside. Asians are yellow...whites are..white. If you still don't get it, you don't have enough Asian friends...and I'm not Asian enough to be your friend. This conference was for Asian-American bloggers. I won a pass to it from KoreAm. Woot woot. (I don't say woot woot in real life. I shouldn't have even typed that but it's almost 11PM and my guard is down.)

I wasn't sure how many people were going to be there but it ended up being like 200 bloggers. I think I was the only fashion blogger. Gotta represent...something. It was great meeting new people (Hi!), learning new things, and I even found out that blogging isn't just for putting up pictures of yourself every day. I think my whole world just fell apart.

This is the outfit I mentioned yesterday. It is NOT clubbing attire. By then I had given up all hope and decided to wear the unclubbiest thing. I'm glad I changed my mind last minute. It would've been so ridiculous going to a work party like this.

Okay, this is the part where you panic... Last day to enter the giveaway! You can win $25 to go shopping! And you have 16 chances to win so it's like you already won....a feeling of self-fulfillment. You're welcome.

I'm wearing a JCPenney trenchcoat (free with gift cards), Forever 21 top (gift from my sweet husband - buy it!), Anthropologie necklace (free with gift cards), Zara pants ($20), and JCPenney heels (free with gift cards) with a JCPenney bag (free with gift cards).

Great outfit! Glad you had fun at the conference!
ReplyDeleteYeah... I'm pretty white.
ReplyDeleteYeah... I'm pretty white.
ReplyDeletei like this outfit! :) your bright shoes make me happy.

ReplyDeleteHaha so glad you were the only one to represent fashion bloggers... so have no style, but that is SO not you :) Way to go girly!
ReplyDeleteYeah, that's not really club-wear. I'm glad you didn't wear that to hollywood night, because I would have scoffed at your claims of being a fashion blogger. Just kidding. I'd still love you, because it's a cute outfit.
ReplyDeleteYou know what's funny, is that I saw that you went to the Banana2 thing on Twitter, and I was like, huh? what is Elaine doing at an Asian blogger event? She's not Asian! Oh, wait... nevermind. It's just so weird that you have an Asian side of you, you totally don't seem Asian at all. hahaha ;) Wait, is that an insult? Or a compliment? I don't know. I apologize in advance if you were insulted.

Lovely with the pink heels! i love visiting your blog and seeing your great style :)
ReplyDeleteWay to represent the fashion bloggers! And way to score a pair of zara trousers for $20! Lucky!
ReplyDeleteI love your necklace! i neeeeeeed one.
ReplyDeleteI plan on creating more dialogue.
ReplyDeleteI'm pregnant?!? Why didn't I know this... I'm not. I just like baggy shirts.
ReplyDeleteI have a little inkling that you are pregnant. Not because you look fat, but because you keep wearing baggy blouses that would hide a bump nicely. Just an inkling.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely not clubbing attire -- though as I'm typing this I'm realizing that I wore a blue and white stripped shirt to a club on Friday night. But I wasn't intending on going to the club - it just happened, and all of the sudden there was a Mormon girl in a random club with a dominatrix. Oh gee.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely good conference attire though. P.S. Are you going to BlogHer? I went last year -- and this year it is in my backyard but for some reason I am still debating.
The necklace, the shirt, the shirt and the trench are just the perfect combo together!

ReplyDeleteHahaha. Banana?
ReplyDeleteMatt calls me a twinkie. Same thing I guess :)
I had been missing that feeling of self-fulfillment, so thanks!
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm not a BlogHerer. I don't even know what it is..
ReplyDeleteBaby! you look so cute! I love your necklace!

I love the classy and paired down look of the outfit - and your curls! Plus you're hilarious, I couln't help my self laughing reading your post. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLove this! But I agree, glad you changed your mind for the club ;)

You look so cute. BTW, I bought the red shoes from Penneys. This is the second pair I've purchased after seeing them on your blog. And not sure if it helps or not but the reason I check out your blog first thing every day is to see what you are wearing. I want to see what YOU are wearing, not photos of anonymous fashion models, or recipes or whatever. And I love your sassy sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteYou're killing me with your chicness lately, lady.
ReplyDeleteLove the stripes! I bet you knocked their socks off at the conference with your fabulous-ness!

ReplyDeletelol @ bananas. as a half paki girl, we do coconuts. you know, brown on the outside, white on the inside :)
ReplyDeleteThere were actually a few coconuts there!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really need to get a trench coat like that.

LOVE this whole outfit! you definitely did some representing in the fashion blogging department! oh, also, that whole first paragraph made me laugh. i think we could be friends. (:
ReplyDeleteLove this look but I think your clubbing one was more suited to a work do.
ReplyDeleteAnd what's all this about blogging "isn't just for putting up pictures of yourself every day". Who is spreading these terrible rumours? What else could it be for? :-)
Today I was so disappointed when I woke up because in my dream you lived in an apartment near me, and you were going to have a yard sale on Saturday and I was so excited because I was finally going to get to meet you! I wish that dream hadn't been so life like :/
ReplyDeleteThat conference sounds fun. And I really like this outfit!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Love the pants so much!
ReplyDeleteOOh, that makes me so sad! We definitely have to set up a yard sale now so we can hang out and be cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!!!!!! But if I did start posting about models and recipes you'd still like me, right? I would do it with sass. But you don't have to worry about that - I don't have time to stalk models or cook.
ReplyDeleteThe conference sounds like fun.
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I do love those trousers! I just bought a similar pair for the summer.
That sounds like a great conference. Maybe I'm reading wrong but the outfit you are wearing here is the one you planned on wearing to your work event? I liked the other outfit much better for the Hollywood theme.
ReplyDeleteMy Heart Blogged
Oooh, Disqus. Isn't it the greatest?! And I'm so glad that you shared what a banana is. Now I know my true identity.
ReplyDeleteHilarious! Just the chuckle I was needing.
ReplyDeleteAre you planning to change anything about your blogging as a result of this conference?
