I LOVE movies. It seems there have been a spew of bad movies rolling into the theaters lately so Chase and I haven't gone for a while. I love chick flicks like the new Pride and Prejudice (love!!!!) and stupid-funny movies (the okay ones because let's admit it, they're supposed to be stupid). I'm not a fan of action or serious dramas because I hate blood and fighting and dramas are boring. But I liked the Bourne movies. I canNOT watch horror movies. I'll get nightmares because I'm a wuss. Confession: I also love children's movies and my brother-in-law likes to make fun of me for that because I fill up his Netflix with kids' movies! Like I watch Up and Despicable Me on repeat all day and Chase hates me for it.
What kind of movies do you like? And what have you seen recently that you love?

  1. I absolutely love comedies, especially romantic comedies. Don't really like action ones but have to watch one once in a while because that's what my boyfriend likes :) x

  2. i recently watched an old 90s classic -- a league of their own -- and it was SO GOOD! i love a young tom hanks! ha!

  3. I love kids movies too! Have you seen Megamind yet? We saw it last week at the dollar theater and I LOVED it.

  4. i love movies but i have to disagree--i think there have been some really great movies out lately. but maybe not any that are ones you would normally see. i loved the fighter, with mark wahlberg, and i loved the music in country strong.

  5. OH my gosh I am such a film nerd. I picked up a film minor at school somehow and it has totally transformed my watching [and fueled my addiction]. I pretty much watch everything--dramas, animated :), and stupid comedies are faves. But Hitchcock rules my heart.

  7. I am a major movie lover! My favorite genre is action, my least favorite (and the one I never ever watch) is horror. A few of my faves are Transformers 1 & 2, National Treasure 1 & 2, Inception, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Pride & Prejudice, Guarding Tess, and Toy Story 1 & 2. Yeah, just a few; I could go on and on. ;) I love kids movies like you. I am dying to see Toy Story 3 and Despicable Me. :)

  8. I love Marilyn Monroe movies. Some of my favorites include "How to Marry a Millionaire", "Gentlemen prefer Blondes", and "The 7 year itch". If you like kids movies then you are for sure going to like Tangled. My husband and I took our girls to see it and we BOTH liked it!

  9. I love pixar films but my hubs doesn't like to see them either. We usually try to see the Oscar-nominated films because they are usually pretty good. So far I have really enjoyed The King's Speech (I was surprised because it looks a bit boring).

  10. I like kids movies too, and because I have a family that is the genre of movies that I watch most often. For myself though, I love the classics. I watch those over and over. And when I am REALLY alone and nobody can judge me, I watch sci-fi type movies with robots and aliens. They're my guilty indulgence. :)

  11. Easy A - comedy with emma stone , nothing serious, loved it
    Inception- mind blowing...

I love movies like 500 days of summer and the Ugly Truth. Comedy and life is a favorite. Mean Girls is a classic .

  14. I think we have similar movie tastes!! I just watched Masterpiece Theater's Jane Eyre last night and it was marvelous. There's really no other word to describe it :).

  15. I watched Despicable Me and Creation last night. They were great! You might find Creation boring though haha very much a drama.

  16. I love Pride and Prejudice, too! Most people like the BBC series best but I don't get it. Sure, they were able to really stretch the story but I didn't like the actresses. They looked too old to be the Bennett girls. Meanwhile, the new one just hits the spot. I was in love with Matthew McFadyen for a while...

I loved Black Swan and The Social Network.I enjoy lots of foreign movies (subtitles, rock! Have you seen the original The Girl Who Played With Fire?), epic dramas (Gladiator), rom coms (Serendipity), sci-fi(Gattaca, comedies (Zoolander)... everything really. And I'm sercretly a fan of Bruce Willis films. Ssh. Haha!

  17. hahaha. I love sappy movies on occasion but my favorite movie is The Dark Knight. I love kid movies too (Kong Fu Panda in IMAX? totally awesone!) and I also am too much of a wuss to like scary movies, most action movies (not to be confused with Adventure which I love!), and Westerns have far too many gunshots for me. That said I'm too broke for the movie theater usually and watch my movies thru rent a box or online.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I CANNOT watch horror movie either, girl! I am just as much a wuss as you are so don't feel bad. Haha! I am with you on the kids movies. I feel so lame sometimes, but who cares?! Ha! :)

    xo.

I also liked Dinner for Schmucks , The September Issue documentary about Vogue magazine , Picture Me doc. by Sara Ziff and Ole Schell about models and the insight into their world and the industry , Tron Legacy , A Passage to India , Sex and the City and 2 , The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus , The Never Ending Story , and Howl's Moving Castle . there's much more but this is good for now ..

  21. “up in the air” is a great movie i recently watched.

"the kids are all right" is not bad either

    ReplyDelete
  22. I LOVE kids movie. I can rewatch all the Disney Princess movies and NOT get bored :) I am not a huge fan of scary movies either. They give me the creeps and I get scared. I get most scared when Robert isn't around to protect me. When I am alone in the morning, I RUN around the house because I don't want anything to catch me. I sneak around my house...I close the door that leads to downstairs because just in case I see a shadow walking around....I get seriously scared..in the day time too.

You MUST watch Tangled. It is such a sweet cartoon :)

  24. haha I'm the same as you! I love kid movies and stupid-funny movies as well. And I also CANNOT do scary movies! I saw Black Swan and was scared for weeks! And it wasn't even that bad!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm totally a kid movie person too. I just watched Despicable me the other day, and SO CUTE. The best movie I've seen recently is Tangled. LOVE IT!!! I <3 Zachary Levi.

  26. Almost anything, but I do not like gory movies or movies with explicit scenes. Most R movies I wait and watch the edited for TV versions. I do like action movies, just not the overly violent..unless it becomes like cartoon violence.

How could anyone not like Up???

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'm into chick flicks too ( you should check out North And South movie- book By Elizabeth Gaskelle)

I won't watch bloody movies, and I HATE sci-fi! Seriously, we have a loathing realation ship!

  28. I love documentaries. I also love reality shows. I think there's a correlation.

I love documentaries that really open up my eyes, and are really enjoyable to watch. Entertaining + educational. On netflix I watched Life and Debt, and I will NEVER look at Jamaica the same way again. It was sad, but it changed my outlook on the world, so it's worth it. I'd highly recommend it!

  29. You will be such a good mom if you can watch kids movies over and over! I love movies too!

  30. No horror movies for me either. I can't handle anything creepy or evil - there's already enough of that in real life. Everyone I know loved the Sixth Sense but it completely creeped me out! I like suspense and action as long as it's not overdone, so I like the Bourne movies too. Man, I don't really know what kind of movies I love though, some comedies, some chick flicks, some animated. I wish I could get into all the British 'classics', but I have such a hard time understand the dialog!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Have you ever watched the Notebook? Everyone should watch it. Romance at its best. I've cried every time I have seen it.

Other than that, I saw An Education on DVD, awesome. A Single Man is amazingly shot too, worth a watch if you are into fashion.

Most BBC documentaries are good too. Not sure if you get any BBC channels in the US on satellite or cable.

  32. Chick flicks, and kids movies are at the top of my list! I'll admit that I've watched She's the Man at least 23 times since it came out (I just think it's hilarious!).

For some reason, I also have a thing for old movies about ballet (and I don't even dance...) like The Red Shoes and The Turning Point. They just make me wish I was at all graceful.

  33. I love movies too!! And I love kids movies too, but mostly just Disney and Pixar, I'm an animated movie snob ;)

  35. I love all different types of movies. Lately I haven't been into rom-coms. It feels to me like they are all really predictable and played out. I recently have seen True Grit, Black Swan, and The King's Speech and all three of those movies were good. I love Colin Firth and movies about British royalty.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I absolutely loved Despicable Me. Surprisingly enough, I thought True Grit was amazing. I like it better then my husband did and I only had to close my eyes once. It was even funny too. And my guilty pleasure is Attack on the Pinup Boys. Unfortunately I can only watch it in bits and pieces in the internet because I can't find an American copy to buy anywhere (it's Korean).

    ReplyDelete
  37. I Love movies so very much. I love chicky flicky ones, like 13 going on 30. And basically any movies with Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Anniston, or Jennifer Garner.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh I forgot it was Saturday I was like why are you randomly talking about movies? I LOVED despicable me and megamind! I really like comedies, romantic comedies, and family movies, and suspense but not SCARY. Like you, I would die if I watched a scary movie, I seriously don't understand why and how people like and watch scary movies, they are just disgusting!

    Ah, curse you tiny toilet!

I love the kiddy movies too. I was hesitant to see Despicable Me (the commercials were SO corny)... but I ended up loving it! And Up... it makes me cry, but I love it also. :) I asked for (and received) Up, Toy Story 3, and Alice in Wonderland for Christmas.

  53. You should watch "No Strings Attached." It's the best chick flick I've seen in a long long long while! Can we go on a double movie date someday? :) The next time I'm making a trip to LA I'll email you!

  54. Ooh, that looks like such a cute & cozy movie watching place! I am the same as you - I cannot watch scary movies. Nightmares for ever afterwards, there is NO fun in it at all for me! I'm definitely more of a romantic comedy/comedy girl! I do like a good drama from time to time, and being with the fella this long has given me a tolerance for some action movies, but still can't handle violence/scary stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Just got back from watching Black Swan, which I liked but it's not a patch on Requiem for a Dream (although that scared me half to death).

I like a wide range of things, from animated films (Up was amazing) to psychological thrillers (Don't look now is my favourite) and comedies (I love early Steve Martin). I have hundreds on my movie rental list - I don't think I will ever get to the end.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I pretty much only watch romantic movies & comedies! I'm obsessed with "When Harry Met Sally" and a lot of older romances, like "Top Hat", "Roman Holiday", "Sabrina", "An Affair to Remember", etc. Charlie Chaplin is also brilliant. I love "The Gold Rush" & "The Kid" (:

I agree, I don't like horror or anything with blood & violence!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I can watch "Ghost Town" and "Stranger Than Fiction" over and over and over again. No joke.

    ReplyDelete
  58. You pretty much described me exactly, except for liking kid's movies. Which you'd think I would, seeing as I have a kid.. but alas

  59. Despicable me is a fantastic movie. my boyfriend didnt seem to think so either! How, with lines like "it's so fluffy I want die" & the little girls song about unicorns, best!

  60. Reading about what movies you like was like reading about myself. I LOVE Pride & Predjudice too. (Love the new one...but have you seen the 6 hour BBC one with Colin Firth...it is a must if you like Jane Austen!) Hate horror movies, don't really love most actions but i'll watch them for my hubs (I like the Bourne's too), and I love kids movies too, esp old cheesy Disney's. :)

  61. I *love* kids' movies, and I'm not ashamed. Up is wonderful!! I'm also a big fan of lighter movies, and like you, cannot watch anything remotely scary or I will not sleep! I confess I love the Boondock Saints, even though I'm generally not a fan of gore.

  62. I am a blood, gore and mindf*** movie kind of girl. Just every once in a while a soppy romance or costume drama will sneak into my movie goer heart.

I saw Zombieland recently. It 's silly and absolutely hillarious. No gore to worry about either :)

  65. I love old movies! Ones with Katherine Hepburn, Doris Day, and of course, Audrey Hepburn. I also like to watch scary movies (daylight, and with friends only). I just saw No Strings Attached and I really liked it, in spite of the fact that I'm not really a fan of Ashton's acting-I was pleasantly surprised at how funny it was.

  66. I'm a total movie buff... my husband and I watched everything. My personal faves are Rom Coms... no matter how much flack I get for it. Haven't seen anything recently that I just LOVED though.
