I should probably save this for when I'm pregnant..

Yesterday's outfit was easy - Kendi had already picked it out for me. Today was different. I was stuck. So I asked Chase what I should wear. And he picked out a whole outfit for me to wear...and I rejected it. And then I came up with this. I wish I could say Chase and I were like Tieka and her husband but we're not. I don't usually like what Chase picks out for me but I ask him anyway...because he's my best friend and best friends talk about clothes and outfits. (I think this is a sign I need more friends.)

Yesterday I layered two necklaces. Not sure if you guys noticed but that's okay - I'm tricky like that. And today I did it again. When I first saw this Anthropologie necklace, I bought it for the intention of layering it with my Forever 21 necklace! OMGZ! I'm so cool!!!!!!11one

Every time I wear this I think to myself, "I should probably save this for when I'm pregnant.." because it's one of those tops. You see what I mean? But I still love it. It's big, oversized, baggy...all the elements every girl avoids...except for me. I LOVE big and baggy and oversized. It might be the tomboy in me. (I was. Promise. Back in my ghetto days.) Does anybody else wear things that doesn't flatter their body shape because you WANT to?? Then join my super secret club! It's so secret, I don't even know about it.

  1. I'm going to go out and buy those shoes. Now. And I love anything oversized. You look great. And not pregnant.

  3. I am liking the entire outfit. Anything that is comfy AND chic is a winner in my book!

  4. I do this too. I have learned that even if you wear big clothes, people can still tell that you're tiny. Love the layered necklaces too! :)

  5. I actually like the oversized look - it works so well on you because you are so tiny!

    ReplyDelete
  6. When you're tiny, like you, and go oversized you just look adorable and effortless. When I was huge and actually preggo, oversized just made me look even bigger and sloppy. You look super, not maternal at all ;)

  7. Oh you're not the only one loving oversized clothing! You look great!

  8. i have some shirts like that, and josh always looks at me and goes "ahem..." which is basically the you-look-pregnant-cough. haha. it's all good though, they're cute so whaturr. also, you look good and not pregnant-y at all haha

  12. I wear stuff like this all the time.
Quite frankly I don't give a fuck what "flatters" me. I wear what I want.
    Looking cool and comfy!

PS: I ask my bf for advice too. I clearly also need friends.

  14. Those horizontal-striped sailor shirts. LOVE THEM!!! But every single time I try them on (the equivalent of quarterly, minimum), it's so not cute. So I don't buy them and still don't own one.

  15. Girl, give me an oversized sweatshirt any day. I looove sweatshirts and cardigans and basically anything comfy :).

And you are the master of layering necklaces in creative ways - love those necklaces!!!

  16. I wear tons of things that don't flatter me on purpose because I love them. I'm trying to work on that for this year lol. I wear turtlenecks even though I am blessed in my upper respiratory area. I also wear puffy sleeves even though I have linebacker shoulders.

  17. OOooh I have got this huge enormous sack of a pink sweatshirt that I wear all the time even though it is huge and enormous and sack-like. The nice thing about it is that I can stick my head and arms and legs into it and have a little pink tent.
Does that qualify me to be a part of your super-secret club?

  18. You are incredibly photogenic and take the most adorable pictures- and after making something so simple look so chic- I'm convinced you'd look good in almost anything...

  19. very cute. and the necklaces work perfectly together. as for baggy and over sized? Definitely. I love a loose t with skinny jeans. There's all sorts of different ways to flatter a figure, I think, skintight is not always (or often) it!

  20. You should save it for when you're pregnant! it looks extra comfy, and i actually like your outfit. it's simple and comfy! i love the layering of the necklaces and the heels :)

  22. Cute outfit! I'm fairly plump and used to "disguise" it with baggy clothes but it totally didn't fool anyone. Now, I wear more fitted clothes and I think I look much better.

  23. Hahaha, aww! I was actually really unsure of Brett's outfit, but decided to try it on for good humor and it actually ended up alright! Very surprisingly.. Brett doesn't really style his outfits... at all. Hahaha!

xo, you look AMAZING, by the way! I haven't commented in forever!

  27. I'm a fan of big, baggy and over-sized--not to mention tomboys.

In the future you might consider doing "Chase Saturdays" or Tuesdays or whatever day. You wear whatever he picks out for you outfit picture that day. I know you could make it educational and fun. =)

  28. I wish the pregnant girls I know dressed that well! Just kidding, they get a pass.

I ask my boyfriend all the time for outfits, he knows my closet better than I do!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love baggy tops too. Sometimes I'm just so sick of being aware of how every part of my body looks. I think baggy works well if you have a fitted piece as well...like your pants.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The nice thing is when you are as skinny and petite as you are you can get away with big and baggy...if I did that right now I'd just look like a balloon! Really cute! And still save it for when you are prego, the baggy things really do work well and you can avoid buying maternity clothes longer!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I love oversized tops! Def. on my list of favorites. And you don't look pregnant, you look adorable! I like that you added heels instead of flats.

  32. Hey I just read your "Ghetto" post and just thought i'd tell you my brother is on a mission in South Korea right now. He's in Busan though and of course you've been gone from Korea since you were two so it isn't that applicable but still just thought i'd mention it! :)

  33. I love oversized tops, esp. this one!, with skinny jeans. So cute! New follower and I guess I'm in the secret club too. :)

  34. Haha, I want to see what Chase picked out. This outfit rocks though. You are so cute. Ugh.

  35. Don't TELL us you're saving it for when you're pregnant...just use it to hide the pregnancy. Seriously, I have one friend who can hide a pregnancy through seven or eight months just through the way she dresses. And then she's like, guess what, I'm having a baby in a month! Quite the talent. I guess most people are more open out pregnancy these days, though. Anyway...super cute outfit!

  36. I think it's super cute, not at all sloppy/maternity-like.

  37. I love your oversized baggy top. I think you look gorgeous in it. I often things that don't flatter the body type, not everything is about making your legs look longer etc.

  47. This looks great on you! I don't know what you're talking about, doesn't suit your figure?! You've balanced out the baggy top with sleek jeans and I think it looks great, as do the layered necklaces. You must not know about the Club because they kicked you out for being too stylish.

  48. Haha I would never ask my boyfriend to pick my outfit! Well I have in the past and all he says is, "oh You got this baby!" He is of NO help at all! I need more friends in real life to pick my outfits! Tieka has a special husband indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  49. haha, I look REALLY bad in the drapey tee/leggings look but I really like it, so I wear it. Sometimes you've got to just do it, you know? And your comment about your top being a pregnancy top made me laugh because if I ever buy anything with elastic/empire waist I always tell my mom "well, this will be good for when I'm pregnant"...which probably won't be for 5 more years or so (ha! I'm not even married!).

    ReplyDelete
  50. I absolutely LOVE this outfit! It's so simple and chic!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I LOVE wearing baggy tops. I'm doing it right now and when I put this on (it's a big oxford), my husband said, "I like that shirt but it's too big for you. Let me try it on." I put on a waist-cinching belt and that shut him up.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I am obsessed with your necklace! And girl, you should see all my babydoll/wannabe-maternity tops. And I am not even close to being pregnant. Nor am I married. I just like to be a comfy hippie most days. Problem? I didn't think so. :) So in your unflattering tops club, can I be secretary? That would be amazing. I'm already getting started, because I'm totally rocking one of those blousy tops today. It makes me look fat, and I so don't care. ^_^ So glad you don't care, either! You rock.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I'm always wearing clothes that aren't flattering. Like cuffed pants. Not good on short legs. And I'm with you. I love my husband, just not his taste in clothing. You look great, as always!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think if we let our husbands dress us the world would be a much less fashionable place. Love your style and the outfit. You look cute in just about anything.

    ReplyDelete
  55. It's a great rule-breaking outfit! This is a great article about "flattering" clothing, and how it can make us feel worse about ourselves.

    ReplyDelete
  56. See, I don't think of these as pregnant clothes--more like FAT DAY clothes. (which I feel like I have a lot of.) (Omg, not implying you're fat either. -_- )

You balanced it well with the skinny jeans. People don't seem to understand that it is all about proportions!

  70. I wear clothes that aren't necessarily flattering from time to time too. Sometimes its because I'm cold and want a big chunky sweater and sometimes its because the piece has nostalgia written all over it and I want to be nostalgic. To each his own I suppose, right?
