First Outfit of 2011

Happy 2011! Chase and I celebrated the New Year by partying it up at Universal City's City Walk. It was CROWDED...like you-can't-move-unless-you-push-and-shove-and-bite-and-claw crowded. And guess who doesn't like crowds? ME. But Chase and I figured we should do something this time because the past three years we played board games and went to bed before midnight. MY kind of partying.

I'm pretty much the most horrible person ever. I forgot about Getting To Know You Saturday!!! That's a lie. I didn't. I was taking an internet hiatus for the first day of the New Year. If you don't count the two or three times I checked Facebook, I think I did a pretty good job. Anyway, tell me one of your resolutions this year...that is after you read this and think about it for a little. None of this "I want to lose weight" or "I'm going to be nice to people" because we both know that's not going to happen. At least, not for me. Mine (and Chase's) is to make sure we physically acknowledge each other when we pass. It sounds silly but we often pass each other in our apartment without talking or touching and it's kind of sad. We've been trying it for a few days now and the results have been lovey dovey. Do it. I dare you.

So onto the outfit, shall we? This is it. I'm wearing, yet again, ANOTHER Christmas present! Guess which one? If you guessed my skirt, you're right. If not, you should read my blog more. Totally love this skirt. I don't have a lot of ideas on how to wear it yet but it doesn't mean I love it any less.

This is how I think I dance. I guess. I don't know. I don't dance in front of a mirror. (Maybe I do. You'll never know..)

I'm wearing a JCPenney trenchcoat (free with gift card), JCPenney earrings (free with gift card), secondhand Forever 21 blouse ($6), Forever 21 skirt (gift from my sister-in-law), JCPenney tights (free with gift card), and Ros Hommerson oxfords ($25).

The same happened to me on NYE .. the place was so crammed that we had to get out of the crowd or get hurt! The skirt looks lovely :) x

Happy new year, Elaine! You definitely got a lovely haul of presents.

My resolution this year is to finish unpacking our house. Since I'll be done with grad school within the next couple of weeks, I'm out of excuses.

Love your new skirt. The people who buy you presents have your style in mind when they shop. You look great.

I haven't set any new year's resolutions apart from to decide what I do with the blog. My one year challenge is nearly over so I need to work out what happens next. Nice resolution that I have 10 days to do.

I swear nothing looks more classic than a blue blouse and bright red lipstick. You're gorgeous, dahling! One of my resolutions is to take walks. For my health, for my heart, for my brain, for my emotional being... I think taking nice, long walks is so freeing and wonderful and I'm making it a goal to do it more!

Happy, happy new year! It looks like you got some great presents. I went with a quiet New Years with the family and loved it. Crowds and parties are overrated.

Love the outfit! And you're kind of partying for new years is what I like too :D
Hmm....a resolution for me is to stop being so shy and try to be more outgoing, hehe

I guessed the skirt, because I'm pretty sure that is the same blouse as in the picture in the top corner. And I love that. Here is to finding new ways to wear all our old clothes in 2011!

What a pretty new skirt!~ it looks so wonderful with your shirt and those awesome tights!

and my resolution is definately to post on mr. blog more and explore with my tripod and camera for new locations. :D

I've thought about my resolutions and decided I hate the word "resolution." Instead I'm making a list of New Year's goals. And one of my goals is to wear clothes that *I* like, and not worry about whether other people will like them. I'm the one wearing them, I should enjoy them, and try new looks that I've been too afraid to try in the past! :)

You look great in this outfit. I love the new skirt. The blouse is really cute too!

I'm going to learn how to cook this year! I think I'm going to try a new recipe a week, we'll see how it goes. I really like your resolution! :) Maybe I'll give it a try without telling my boyfriend, lol, see how he reacts!

I think this outfit is really nice. A fun, yet sophisticated look. I think your New Year's Resolution is a good one too... cute. :]]

Mine? Probably get on the Internet less. :p

Annie-Staten said...

Hahaha, the first time I was reading your new years resolution, in my head it said "...make sure we physically get to know each other..." and I was like, "well then, ok!" and then I read what it really said, lol. :)

Cassandra said...

Cute skirt! It looks so twirly! :)

That sounds like my kind of New Years as well, haha. The staying in and playing board games, I mean. :) That's exactly what I did last year - albeit with a group of friends. This year Will and I were going to go out and see the pinecone drop (my town's version of the Times Square ball drop) but since it was -20 degrees outside, we decided against it and ended up staying in and playing Wii.

Anyways! Sorry for rambling, haha.

Love this outfit, you look super chic!

This year I am hoping to stick with it. I have been talking about doing alot of things. going to grad school, learning a new language, getting my PHR etc etc etc but, I never follow through. I want this to be the year I achieve one or more of these things!

Super cute outfit!! A few years ago we went to Vegas for New Year's and it was HORRIBLY crowded - the entire 4 lanes each way street was closed and it was still push and shove kind of crowded. Everyone was crazy too - so we went back to our hotel early and watched movies instead of fighting the crowd.

You look so glamorous with your curled hair and your pretty outfit. I really like your resolution and hope it helps you two get closer! :)

You always look so cute, so my first goal is to check out your blog more frequently. My second goal is to be more grateful (Grateful Sundays). And after 25 years of marriage I think your resolution is a good one to try. Of course, our physical acknowledgements will probably be limited to fist bumps and high-fives. But, hey, it's a start!

I guess we traded places this year. I played Monopoly (but at a friend's house) and you went out. Let's switch back next year. Can't wait to see how you remix this skirt! I have one very similar to yours. I have a long list of goals like every year. Setting them makes me so much more productive. I'll finish reading the entire Bible, try more new recipes, read more books, use my passport again and several other things. I think it will be a very exciting year! :)

Nice start to the new year! Don't have too much fun.

Kimberellie said...

beautiful skirt. so lovely and flirty! ADORE it. And you are looking as cute as ever! As for a New Year's Resolution, I think mine is to never miss an opportunity to be kind. On New Year's Day (when there were no buses running) I got the opportunity to give a woman a lift home (she was waiting for the bus!). And heck, it was on my way, and it was fun getting to do something for someone else.

Every so often I have found myself "missing" an opportunity to do something like this. And this year I don't want to miss any! Oh, and also I want to exercise more (of course!).

ps. your resolution is AWESOME I am going to have to try that!

You always look so incredible with the outfits you pull together!!! And the out before midnight...us all the way baby! We have a tradition of cooking dinner together {this year filet mignon with whipped potatoes and sauteed beans...yumminess!} and, of course, out like a light before the ball drops. Party on with your bad self...even if the party ends at 10:30!

You look ravishing in these photos! i love the outfit and your new years resolution! i think it's important for couples to acknowledge themselves more. mines is to read at least 15 books :)

I cannot believe this skirt is from Forever 21. It's so long! compare to all the other skirts I've seen, they're like micro mini.

Happy New Year Elaine!
I think for my resolution, as sad as it may be, I would like to not use blogger as much as I do. I need to study, study, study! But it's so hard because you all are so interesting!

That's a really good new years resolution! Mine is: To try and not get so aggravated with my boy. Which sounds really bad but long distance relationships are hard, and skype conversations can be taken the wrong way so easily. We get frustrated with each other because we haven't seen each other for so long.
Anyway: nice outfit, the skirt is so seriously pretty :)

You look so glamorous! That blouse is utterly lovely on you!

My goals for 2011 are mostly to just do more of the things that I already do: run, write, yoga. The biggest challenge is that for a variety of reasons I'm going on GAAD and not shopping for new clothes all year.

I love the outfit...very cute way to start off the new year. :)

My new years resolution (one of) is to try and not lose my temper with my boyfriend so much. I have trouble showing him grace sometimes (which he likes to point out to me constantly), so this year I will try harder. Just don't tell him. I couldn't stand him knowing I thought he was right. :)

Happy new year!
