Yes, the stereotypical "fashion blogger in the empty field" shot. There are TONS of these empty fields where my husb grew up. That also tells you what kind of town we're in................................and how exciting it is.

I almost didn't wear these black flat ankle boots I thrifted a while ago. I imagine them with skinnies but it's too hot to wear anything that suffocating. Because I was blessed with short stubby legs, I opted for an above-the-knee dress to make my legs look longer.

The sunset really was that pink and beautiful! While we were walking around, a couple of older ladies stopped us and commented on how white we were. They were really friendly and I'm pretty sure one of them had a crush on my BIL.

Cheater, Cheater, Pumpkin Eater

This is not what I wore today. I wore this skirt instead but I was uncomfortable all throughout the day. It is because it is shorter than the last time I wore it. It must have shrunk in the dryer...or maybe because I am an inch taller now...which I am. So this skirt is what I wish I had picked out this morning instead.

We should all practice smiling more

We bought ourselves a new camera yesterday because ours is falling apart. It was not my fault. (Yes, it was.) Chase will be practicing his picture-taking skillz and I will practice on my smiling.

I try to love my niece more than my laptop.

My 12-year-old niece complained to me today that I was on the computer too much. Guilty. So in effort to be the cool aunt, this is going to be quick. This outfit was inspired by this J.Crew look. Their catalogs always make my knees buckle. ...or maybe it's the prices.

...or I'm just awesome at remixing. I figure a week is good enough time to wear something again....except for jeans. I can wear the same pair of jeans for a month. Hey, it's not gross. It's efficient. No, wait.. That's gross. What was I talking about again? This heat is getting to me. I'm going swimming. SEEYA.

I'd rather smirk than smile...and that's a fact.

If you can't tell, I love this skirt. I want to wear it every day. No, not really. I want to wear it every week to church and every other event that calls for a skirt because you look at it and automatically think I'm cool. Think it. I know you just did!

I discovered a little trick today. I knew I wanted to wear this necklace Melissa gave me as a good-bye gift but it clashed with my round neckline so I added some ribbon in the back and made it longer. Hurrah for creativity!

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers out there...especially mine because he had to put up with me for 22 years.

Goal today? Get dressed.

It's been a while since I got dressed in real clothes. But tonight we went to see Toy Story 3 (which I LOVED)  and I didn't think they would let me in the theater if I were naked. Just kidding. I would've at least worn a scarf.

What I'm wearing to a BBQ in five minutes

Eep! I'm supposed to be out the door right now but I wanted to do a quick post of what I'm wearing tonight. Lately, Chase and I have been busy with yard work, digging trenches, and enjoying the pool. I think it's safe to say then it's probably a good thing that I haven't posted in the past few days. It's hard to look cute when you're dirty and sweaty.

2nd Saturday

Yesterday we went downtown to Sac-town for 2nd Saturday. It was so fun! There were bands everywhere, fashion shows, fun activities for the kid in you, and tons of people. We even spotted two "famous" Sacramentoans (is that right?!?) - Sacramento Kings NBA player #13 (yeah, that's how much I care about sports) and UFC fighter __ Faber (I didn't catch his first name).

I knew we'd walk a lot, it'd be hot, and that there was the possibility of big gusty winds, which immediately eliminated skirts and dresses for me so I went with some skinnies and my most comfortable sandals. Even though my hat could have been blown away, I took the chance and wore it. Most of my jewelry is packed away so it was the only accessory I could think of!

And as I promised..

All I need now is a beach cruiser...

I feel California-y today even though I still carry a Utah driver's license (not for long). Now if I can only convince someone to buy me a new bike...

I bought a new hat once I got back from the Philippines. I gave mine to a little Filipino girl on the street. I really liked it and was sad I wouldn't be able to find another one but thanks to mass-producing stores, we'll never run out of anything. Thanks, Forever 21!

In the Wrong Decade

I'm not too knowledgeable in decades and what was popular then but I do know that wide legs were the jazz in the 70s. (Just kidding. I didn't know that. I had to confirm it with my MIL.) I definitely felt as though I went back in time in this quaint little town my husb grew up in and my wide leg jeans. Actually, it always feels like I've gone back in time whenever I'm here....every time.

I was a little skeptical about blue denim together but now I know if done right (like me, obvi) it's awesome. This was inspired by Erin....because she's awesome.

So no bruises today but I still feel like I just had a nose job... Like my face needed to be any flatter!

Guess what? In the middle of the night I had to go to the bathroom and while I was walking through the dark hallway trying to find the doorknob with my outstretched arms, I ran into the door frame. Who knew you could hit your face so hard?? No bruises yet but I'm expecting some purple and blue tomorrow because I feel like I've been in a cage fight.

Where's the Boat?

My second package came from Annie of Little Ocean Annie. She sent me two tops - one which I'm wearing here. She heard my forlorn plea and offered to send me a few things because they were moving and it really proved to me that she really is genuine and sweet as anyone can see from her blog. Thanks so much, Annie!!!!! The best part of this outfit is that it cost me $12 - thanks to Annie.

I gotta go swimming now. My niece has been begging me throughout these pictures, which explains my smiley mood here!!

A Little Edgy and a Little Nice

We got back at 1 this morning with horrible neck cramps and ready for a clean bed and a real shower after 48 hours of traveling and layovers - ugh. It's great to finally be back and not have to be on an airplane any time soon. After 10 flights for one vaca, I think I'm good for a couple of years..

I had a couple lovely packages waiting for me when I got back. This jacket was one of 'em! I personally wouldn't have picked it out if I saw it on a hanger just because I'm a wimp like that.. But I'm definitely glad to have such an edgy piece in my closet now! What do you think? I already know I'm going to wear this thing to rags!!!
