Keep It Classy, Salt Lake

It is Friday and I rarely post on Fridays. Mostly because I need two free days to dress like a bum and not have photographic evidence of it, especially all over the internet. But I thought this was somewhat blog-worthy. You've all seen these pieces before and it's not really a shocker but I thought I did pretty well picking this out while I was half-awake this morning.

And now my bum dressing will ensue as I finish packing. We are leaving the Lake of Salt in exactly one week! I'm 90% happy and 10% sad - I just found out Modest Mouse is going to perform free at the Twilight Concert Series this summer. The one time something good happens in Salt Lake City and I'm not going to be here!!!

Spring Sweater

It snowed last night so naturally I wore a sweater to work, but I was dying!! I'm pretty sure I sweat buckets because it was so hot. Then I come outside and all the snow's gone. Oh, yeah. I also wore my faux leather jacket. Oh, Utah....you're like an ex-boyfriend I never want to remember again.

I'm so proud of my thriftastic outfit. Total? $23. Booyah. Should've worn this when it was colder though!

On the Wall

Remember this post where I was whining about too-long graphic t-shirts? Well, here's that t-shirt again...with the same jeans! I have a tendency to pull and tug at my clothes and I had to let that habit go and bunch up the bottom a little to not hit right at my hips.

If you guys didn't know already, I'm not a fan of graphic t-shirts. I wanted to wear one today but still wanted to make it cute without forcing people to read/look at what is written on my chest. So I resorted to the belted-cardigan. I know I've totally been overdoing this look. But once Utah decides to keep its temperature up, I'll give up belting my cardigans. ...Maybe.

Night Out

I actually wore this same outfit here, just swapped the accessories and shoes and with a different 'do. (I am happy to say I can finally pull my bangs back. Yesssss.) Let's just say this is the night version and the previous one, the day version.

Misikko Flat Iron Review & Giveaway (CLOSED)

Misikko sent me one of their Hana Elite flat irons for me to review [and giveaway]. They have all sorts of professional hair dryers and professional hair dyers like the Chi flat iron and Chi hair straightener.

My flat iron came in pretty packaging and some extra goodies that I, unfortunately, forgot to take pictures of. I'm so in love with it. The Hana Elite works great and is easier to use to curl my hair than my other one. Seriously, it's all I've been using since I've reviewed it! Take a look for yourself. My husband helped me in providing some photographic evidence for the non-believers.

Black Pastels

The forecast called for rain again today, hence, my leather, waterproof boots (and my raincoat, but I had to take that off because it was too hot). Instead, the sky was bright blue with big, white clouds and barely any rain. I'm so over planning my outfits around weather.com. It's a big FAIL each time!!!

In response to yesterday's mention of skinny jeans and modesty... Thank you for all your comments. This is my style and modesty is subjective. Unfortunately, I'm not here to please everyone. That is impossible. But as La Historiadora de Moda said, "[I] am true to [my]self and [my] standards and that is what should matter." And if that offends you, I truly apologize, but I won't be changing myself or my style because of a few anonymous, negative comments. As for the 99% of you, we're totally BFFs now...like totally.

In the Wool and Rain

It was cloudy today and the forecast called for rain. I probably shouldn't have worn my wool blazer but I wanted something cropped and structured with my wide leg jeans....

I feel like the blog world jumps for joy any time I opt for something other than my skinny jeans...especially the more conservatively modest crowd. I like my skinny jeans and if you don't like me wearing them, I'm sorry because I still plan on wearing my skinnies.

April Flower

I like this necklace. My husband doesn't - he thinks it's too much. I think NOT! I get several compliments on it each time I wear it! Maybe because it is too much... I don't know. I have the supplies for a second one so I might make another and give it away here. Watch for it later, gaters.

While we were walking around our neighborhood looking for some shade to take my pictures, I was approached by Marte, a Norwegian street-style blogger. She asked if she could take my outfit pic because she really liked my necklace. She was so nice I could've given it to her right then! Check out my pic on her blog here....

Round 3

So remember the first skirt I made with Susan's pattern? Well, it's fraying and coming apart (sad face). I don't have the patience to fix it so I just made another one. I found some fabric for $1 at the thrift store - not bad, eh? The color is basically the same as my first skirt! I think I'm getting the hang of this sewing business.

EDIT: This apartment building is right across the street from us. It was in a funny (to me) movie in the 90s. Can you guess which movie it's from?

Springtime in My Soul

Today was my last week teaching Relief Society :(. I actually enjoyed teaching and I love the sisters in the ward. I'm going to miss it. I wanted to look springy and light-hearted for my last week. I consider myself a more serious, all-about-doctrine teacher than a fun-loving, joking teacher. I'm still fun...I think.
