I'm So Crafty

Here is my skirt! I know - the fabric is different. I had some extra fabric that I bought out of a whim a while ago (I don't know why - I wasn't sewing then..) and wanted to try it out first. I used my blue and white fabric for the pockets. This took me forever to make! The elastic waist band was the hardest... I had to pick it four times. But it was worth it. I hope my second skirt will be easier.

My husband will be home in an hour!!! I'm so excited.

New Widths

Went down to Provo today and had dinner with my little sister and two old friends of ours. We went to Little Italy on Center St. - seriously, my new fave!! So authentic and so good.

I know what you are thinking..."You wore this shirt yesterday!" GUILTY. But it was so comfy that it begged me to wear it one more time. And check out my new wide leg jeans! These are super comfy too...possibly more so than my J Brands. These were long on me so I had to hem them myself. If you look closely, there is some rippling.....but I thought I did pretty well for my first time!!

It's a Friday night...

...and I'm all alone! Good thing I have that skirt to keep me busy! I haven't started it yet - obviously. Not gonna lie...I'm a little freaked out. I haven't made anything so this will be my first. I want it to be perfect! I don't want to embarrass anyone. Here is a peek at the fabric I'll be using. Isn't it fantastic? Thank you, Wal-Mart, for not letting me down.

I was able to do some quick window shopping today with Meg. I love that girl. If you met her, you would love her too. Thanks to her, I was able to get a decent outfit pic! (Thanks, Meg!) No more picture wall! Okay, that's a lie. There will probably be more of that..

Comfy Casual

This will basically be my outfit for the rest of the week. My husband is out of town for school and I just want to wear the comfiest and loose clothing I have - I don't seem to have the desire or motivation to look cute and put on makeup anything at all a skirt. But I told him and myself that I wouldn't just stay in bed and eat chocolates all week(end). I have a few GNOs, a sewing project, and lots of cleaning to do. I think it will be enough until he comes back Sunday night.

When I dropped my husband off at the airport, he gave me a stack of letters for me to read every night he is gone...and this was what he left me under my pillow last night. Isn't he the sweetest?? I miss him so much....

Thank you for all your suggestions and congratulations for our Philippines trip!! We are so excited to go! Me more so than him. The Mr. is more excited about Hong Kong. I'm worried about the language barrier.. I took a few courses in Chinese but am hardly capable of conversing with anyone.

This outfit came to me last night before I fell asleep. Thank goodness it looks half decent! The majority of the time (99%) those outfits never do anyone any good...especially since I'm half asleep when they come to me. I love the stripes/florals/ruched sleeves/fishnets combo.

Priorities First

Modeling Update... So it wasn't even an audition...it was an interview! It is a recruiting company and they require training classes for 10 weeks ($1,500). To be honest, we don't have that kind of money or time for me to do this right now, especially since we're considering graduate schools for my husband, may be moving, and may be starting a family soon. Don't get me wrong...of course, I want to do it! But I know where my priorities lie....and I put family first.

Blue Jean Baby

I took this shirt in a little yesterday. I'm so proud of myself. I've tried a few times on other shirts but I messed them up so bad, they're unwearable! Yeah, I'm that bad with a sewing machine. Now that it fits me snug as a bug in a rug, you bet I'll be wearing this more often! 

Wish me luck on my modeling audition tomorrow. I just hope I don't make a fool of myself!!! Maybe now I'll be a little more serious about eating better! (Not ramen...which I didn't eat today..promise. Okay, that's a lie..)

Confession:  I wore this out to dinner this past weekend. But it was only for a few hours and I didn't get a picture of it. Please say you do that too so I don't feel so stupid! Anyway, it reminded me of this post - even though I wore it a few days ago it wasn't me anymore. Weird, right? Oh, well... at least I got a picture this time!

So you guys know I don't post a lot of "wanted" items on my blog. But when I saw this on the Tsubo website, I knew I have to have it. There really is no rational reason for me to buy these. For $95 you've got to be kidding me! Plus, I have no ideas on how to incorporate this into my wardrobe - they're not even my style! Somebody talk some sense into me. What's happening to me???

Not a Cougar

Utahns will probably recognize this campus. If not, shame on you! It's okay though - like the title suggests, I'm not a Cougar! ;) You can probably guess what school I go to now.. hahaha! So tell me...are you a Cougar or a Ute? ...or if you don't know what I'm talking about, what's your school mascot?

Today's outfit was actually inspired by What Would a Nerd Wear. I couldn't figure out what to wear this morning and took a look at my favorite blogs and I loved how she wore her denim shirt and just had to use the same color scheme. I want to wear this shirt again tomorrow but I think that would be overkill...right? No worries... My sister found me a blue plaid dress today at the Provo DI - so prairie-like but still appropriate to wear in today's society....at least I hope so. I'll probably wear it tomorrow so you can be the judge of that!

Horsing Around

I found my go-to hair style:  I sleep with two buns in my wet hair Sailor-Moon-style. It was big and poofy in the morning but my hair is too straight and soft/sleek that it turns into this by the end of the day. Straight and sleek isn't necessarily grand, just so you know... And I think I'm getting the hang of these side swept bangs! Just a little curl with the straightener and I am good to go.

You probably think this is too obvious of an outfit. I thought it was and wasn't sure if I should post this or not. But I liked it! A male co-worker of mine asked if I was going riding.... YEAH, if you get me a horse and a trainer! and some knee pads... elbow pads.. a helmet.. possibly a bubble.

More than Blue Skies

Thank you all for your help concerning my bangs!! From the comments, it seemed pretty even - about half and half. After much thought, I've decided to grow them out. I realized I can always cut them straight but I can't always grow them out faster. I'll probably go back to straight bangs soon though...

Do you guys recognize how I tied my scarf? It's from the scarf tutorials What Would a Nerd Wear posted yesterday, which was very helpful might I add! This is WWaNW's The Warmest Way knot. And it was, indeed, very warm.

Seems like my best outfit pictures are usually the ones where I am caught candid! I need to stop trying too hard when being photographed.. (Oops, I'm still wearing my name tag...)

Sweatered Finds

Found this cozy knit sweater at the Provo DI over the weekend. I swear Salt Lake's DI is the worst in Utah!! Anyway, I'm not a big fan of sweaters....or long-sleeves in general. The arm-pit part always feels weird to me! But this sweater fits like a dream! It is knit but a little stretchy. I love the buttons and the blue and white weaving throughout.

I am in a transition-hair phase. My bangs are starting to get too long for me but I can't decide if I want to keep them or grow them out as side-swept bangs... I personally like straight bangs on me because it accentuates my eyes and cheekbones but I am getting bored of them.. And just in case you don't know how I look with side-swept bangs.. here are some examples:  one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

Western Flower

Thank you for all your responses from the last post! In the end I have to say I agree with Style Artisan and jesse.anne.o. We are responsible for the "labels" we portray to the world. If we want to be beautiful today, we can be. If we want to be sexy tomorrow, we can be that too. It also depends on the other person's perspective and how they view you but the other half is our responsibility.

Sorry, no pictures today/tonight/this morning. I've been up trying to get caught up with comments but I'm still really behind. So sorry!

Lately, I've been thinking about adjectives that we use in the fashion blogging world. I've narrowed it down to four:  cute, pretty, beautiful, and sexy. I find that a lot of the bloggers fall into at least one of these categories. Of course, we all have different ideas on what they all mean..

Personally, I think I am cute and pretty and never sexy! ...except I don't like being called cute. But too bad for me because that word is used a LOT in the blogging world. In my opinion cute is demeaning. It is used for little girls with pigtails and frilly dresses and mary janes. But then there is kawaii - the Asian cute. That's different from the former idea of cute. Real Asians (not me) can pull off being cute and sexy at the same time! I think that is amazing. And most definitely not me.

So...which of these adjectives (cute, pretty, beautiful, sexy) do you classify yourself as? and why?

Pearly White

Sorry. I still can't get over the layered pearls look! It's fun to rework them with different necklaces too. Except they keep swinging around and getting caught (ahem)... 

I already said this on my twitter account but I feel like it should be said here on MY blog:  Please for the life of me STOP asking me to follow your blog. I'll follow it when I want to. It is really annoying when half of the comments I get are ones where you are asking me to follow you. Frankly, it makes me less inclined to read your blog or even get to know you.

Florals, Take Two

I did it. Don't worry about the tights...I did laundry last night, promise. I really liked this today! I think I like this better than yesterday... Sorry the pics are so blurry - I couldn't brave the cold! It was too much for me. I'm such a wimp compared to What Would a Nerd Wear..

The hubs and I just got back from chilling with the great Melissa Esplin and her fam for brownies and chitchat. She is another level of thrifting genius. I got to see her amazing clothes and even touch some (eek! I know!!). Hopefully, her thrifting skillz will rub off on me...
