You look tired. I know.

Monday, December 13, 2010
I am soooo tired. All I want to do is eat my mac-n-cheese and go to bed. It's finals week for Chase and he's been up all night this whole weekend. We live in a studio apartment and it's kind of hard sleeping when the lights are on all night all weekend. It's been sooo stressful for me. And Chase too. But more so for me.

Have you guys heard of this heat wave coming through SoCal? What the what?? It was 88degrees yesterday. 80 today. I'm going to admit.. I kind of miss the Utah snow. Kind of. But not really. Actually, no, I don't miss 7 months of snow.

I'm not a layer-er. If you look back at most of my outfits, I usually just have a shirt on (and bottoms, sicko!) and maybe a cardigan. I'm a tugger and puller. Whatever I'm wearing, I'm constantly picking and pulling all day. I hate when your shirt bunches up at your stomach or when you bend over and your shirt is still sitting at the top of your bum making it look bigger than normal. So, yeah, I hate layering. But sometimes it's necessary - like when your shirt is see-through. And then sometimes layering tanks and tees sit right at your hips, the widest part of my body. But today, I didn't think about it...and I think it even looked okay. Probably because I have hot legs.

  8. If it makes you feel any better, we don't even HAVE snow right now. Just cold. Freezing freezing cold. But tell you what, if you still miss it I'll be more than happy to trade you places and you can come live here instead. ;) haha. I wish! 88 degrees sounds like a dream right now.
I cannot believe you got those boots for 8 bucks. Geeze you know how to shop!

  10. Well I definitely wish it was that easy for me to look good when I am dead tired! I hope Chase does well on his exams! That is so stressful

  11. I know what you mean! My husband has finals right now and we live in a studio apartment. I go to bed so much later during this time because my husband doesn't come home for dinner until 1030 or 11. I can't believe your husband is taking photos of your during this time. What a sweetie! And I love layering! I feel like it's a great way to make many outfits out of a few pieces.

  15. I am not huge on layering pieces either. I have a hard time with camis because they always seem to slide down and fall open or something. They never stay put and then I have bra showing. Ugh!

You definitely pulled it off though. I love the green jacket!

  16. Those are super cute earrings. I think I splurge on a pair of good jeans. I am in need of them and flats too!

  17. this heat wave in california is pretty ridiculous but i don't think i could take months of snow either! i am in love with your green coat! i wish i could buy it in an actual store and not have to go searching in korea for one :)

  18. Yes, work those hot legs. That green jacket is beautiful!
I can't believe the weather you're having. It went from 45 degrees to 22 today, and I thought that was crazy.

  19. i like it. someone told me i looked tired the other...day i felt like saying, "no duh, i'm running around after a three year old, i'm running errands for my 6 year old and i'm gestating a 20 week old baby...suck it." but instead i just said, "yeah, well i am tired."
    i'm too nice.
    p.s. this jacket is fun.

  20. Your legs are very hot, you're right! I think you look great wearing layers! I wish it were that warm around here, but no such luck!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Bahaha! I was just thinking about how annoying it is when your shirts bunch up at the top of your pants! I've been pulling at my sweater and undershirt all day, trying to get them to stay down below the top of my pants. I think they have a hearing problem because they didn't listen AT ALL! Sorry to hear about your sleeping dilemma. Finals week is always a pain for me too because my husband runs book buy-backs and is gone sooooo much. Oh, and I feel your pain with the heat wave; I'm in OC and was totally bummed about the heat because I layered and wanted to wear my cut-off trench. :(

  22. The background is soo nice, but omg that little jacket is soo cute! The color and design are like little school girl, I love it!

  23. This weather in LA has been CRAZY! So hot for the middle of Dec! Cute outfit :)

I am the same way about layers though I wish I was better at it. I'm moving to a cold climate so I will have to learn to layer!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Maybe you and I should BOTH take a pregnancy test. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Bring on the heat! I love it! I'm in San Diego and I couldn't have been happier to not have to worry about a jacket today. That's what I pay a zillion dollars in rent for.

Love the layers... that jacket would be breaking a fashion rule for me -- I'd feel like a tent. But I like the top clasp, it seems almost cape-ish

  26. Yes, you DO have hot legs. And I'm jealous of your bootay... Sucks to be flat-butted. LOL.

  27. Where I live (In Alaska), more than half the year is oober cold! Blah.

  28. You are looking great. I love the little coat thrown over...and how about this heat wave, huh? I'm from Canada and as much as I like to see a little snow am very grateful I don't have to deal with 6 months of it!! I hear ya on that one!

  32. Good luck to Chase during finals.

I think you pulled off layering quite well. I am awful at it! The white top looks really good, especially with the grey tank underneath.

  35. 7 months of snow in Utah ?? That's absolutely crazy ! Then again, I'm surprised you don't like layering cause' I'm guessing you had to with that much snow ;-P

The colour of your coat paired with your knee-high boots is great !

  39. I think you did a great job of layering the two tops. But what I really love about this top, and can't stop looking at it, is the lovely jacket that you're wearing! The loose shape and the vibrant green colour come together so well.

  40. aw, elaine! hope that finals are over and you both are feeling more relaxed soon.
in the meantime, i'm SO jealous that it's warm in southern california! it's zero degrees here today (brrrr). and i love the crispness of green, white, and black--so fresh for winter!

  44. I love the boots! You look adorable with a ponytail. I'm over finals week :-P The bed and mac and cheese scenario sounds pretty good right now. Good luck to Chase!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Haha. I used to not like to layer too because I didn't like the frump that resulted when I did. I'm still not incredibly good at layering, but I can manage :)

I like your green coat! It's super cold in the east coast right now, and it's not even winter yet (or has it started?). Not fun... at least I would like some snow to cancel work, but all we have at the moment are bad gushing winds. Not cool.

  46. It's about the same weather over here in AZ, too. I really love it. And that green jacket is awesome.

  50. With the wind chill, we were at zero degrees this morning. Since it's almost always the same temp in my office, I avoid layers. Instead I wear a coat/jacket that's appropriate for the temperature outside.

Your feet must have been pretty hot too--in those boots! ;P

    ReplyDelete
  51. I'm surprised you can layer so much in 80 degree weather! I'm so jealous of your temps! Good luck to you and Chase for the end of the quarter!

I'm certainly feeling a little bedraggled and sleep-deprived at this point in the quarter too!

  59. Too bad there isn't any Utah snow to miss! It's almost Christmas and no snow on the ground right here in Utah county. Honestly, an 88 degree Christmas sounds depressing. But come Jan 1 I will be green with envy!

  60. Ah, I miss SoCal's warmth! When we moved back to Texas I didn't (and still don't) know how to deal with even temps in the 40's anymore. Eek!!

Hang in there with finals. I have one more week of teaching left before break and I. Know. I. Can. Make. It.

    Love the green jacket. :)
