Hey guys. It's me...Elaine. Thanks to those who participated in my "Let's get to know each other" feature. It seems like we could start a whole fashion-blogger band if we wanted to....and we want to, right? We'd probably have like 30 people on pianos and 30 playing guitars. Beat that, Miley Cyrus.

I wore this to church today. Notice something different? No? Then you should read my blog more. I'm wearing bracelets!!! OMGZ!!!!!!11one I'm not a fan of bracelets. You can't eat, you can't wash your hands, you can't write, you can't type on the keyboard, you can't do anything without it obnoxiously jingling and jangling and pinching your flesh. So I made sure not to do any of those things today.
I'm wearing a Gap dress I snipped to be a top ($7), reworked JCPenney necklace (free with gift card), Shade Clothing skirt ($12), thrifted bangles ($2.50), mother of pearl bracelet (won from Emily's giveaway), and thrifted Nine West heels ($3).

You look so adorably put together!! I love it! I have a problem wearing bracelets b/c my hands and wrists are too small-they won't stay on! I recently found out, though, that H&M makes sized bracelets. Excitement! I feel like smaller, better fitted bracelets won't get in the way of, you know, everything. Lol!

While I find it astonishing that there are still places on this side of the world that one can wear so little cothing out of the house, I have to say you look great! I love everything about this outfit. I don't know how you always look so good :)
ReplyDeleteI have that Shade shirt and I wear it a lot! It's my absolute favorite! Love the whole outfit though!
ReplyDeleteI Love the bracelets along with the necklace. It adds so much fun to the whole outfit!! Your just adorable!
ReplyDeletelove ur outfit
ReplyDeleteYou-look-soo-good.
ReplyDeleteI love the orange/white combo (that is orange, right?) and the new background is a fantastic change.
And um, did it suddenly get WARMER in Cali?! Look at you in your bare legs and short sleeves! JEALOUS!

A.Co, I KNOW! It was in the 90s today!!! What the what????
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the bracelt issue. I wish there was a way they wouldn't get in our way.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I can totally see the shirt tucked in your skirt! It's so orange-y, unless you wear matching underwear, it'll be a different story!
Just better Together is having 2 giveaways!
So funny because my husband and I were just talking about why I don't wear bracelets on the way home from church today. They do get in the way of everything (especially when you have kids).
ReplyDeleteBut they look fabulous! I'm jealous that you look so amazing and spent so little on that whole ensemble.
<3 Kali
I love your bun! Very classy. Love the outfit too!
ReplyDeletebesos,lynn
I can't believe you are in bare legs and a T! I'm bundled heavily here. I too share a dislike for bracelets, but I appreciate them as a concept. This look is super cute and stylish. I especially love the full and poufy "blogger bun"!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit! I'm a total sucker for white skirts!
ReplyDeleteUm...90deg...yeah that doesn't sound good to me! LOL! I guess I'm adjusting to the Montana weather! Took long enough, I've lived here 8 years! :)

You look so good. I am jealous you can wear nice clothes in that gorgeous weather.
ReplyDeleteLove the white and coral. Those are actually my fave summer colors. (I'm not saying you cant wear them in the winter) I like the bracelets, I know how annoying they can be =P
ReplyDeleteBtw, we'd totally beat miley, I mean shes already going downhill, but did you see that last thing she did? Crazy. Piano and guitar are pretty popular =P But wed be the awesome "Clothed Much led by Elaine" band... Yeah, as long as you were the leader and sang for us, we'd be billionaires... *sigh*
=D

I love that you snipped a dress to make it into a shirt. What a great eye you have to see clothes' potential. And I never wear bracelets for the reason you cited. I just stick to earrings.
ReplyDeleteElaine I'm so proud of you, you broke your jewelry rule, and if I might say rule breakers are way cooler than those other weirdos!
ReplyDeleteSO PRETTY! You look so fresh in these crisp colors! Yay for breaking out of the norm and wearing bracelets! :)
ReplyDeleteCuuuteeee the bracelets look great :D I know what you mean about the annoying jangling, haha
ReplyDelete*sings* jingle jingle jingle, you will hear my sleigh bells ring, I am old Kris Kringle I'm the King of Jingling!

very sexy chic!
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit. Love how well the skirt fits you!
ReplyDeleteI love your top knot!
ReplyDeleteI sort of know what you mean, the first thing I do when I get to work in the morning is take off my watch.
ReplyDeleteI really like that necklace!
I have a friend who wears a jade bracelet all the time, she actually can't get it off. She said it was a marriage thing.
simple yet classy. lovely.
ReplyDeleteHaha, You crack me up! I love this outfit & your top-knot :)
ReplyDeleteYou're breaking all of your rules - I love it!

I totally noticed that. Does that make me observant or a stalker. I'll let you decide. You look great in that white skirt!
ReplyDeleteThe Auspicious Life
You looked great at church, love those colors together! I am jealous you are still wearing short sleeves and no tights...it is currently pouring snow where I live.

Goooorgeous! I love that color on you. I totally hear you about the bracelets. Every time I wear them to work, I take them off as soon as I start typing, and they stay off for the rest of the day... then I end up leaving them at work for days... I should save bracelets for the weekends and church. I don't type during church. =)
ReplyDeleteI love that necklace! It looks divine on that red, striking shirt.
ReplyDeleteNice! I don't wear bracelets either....they bug me, plus I have really small wrists and they always hang weird onto my palms if they are ones that are flexible chains. I hate that! And to ansswer your post question on my blog...if I'm coming back...the answer is maybe. I haven't decided. It was taking up too much time(as you know it does), and I don't think I want to spend that much time...anyways, I'll keep reading your blog!! I liked the post with all of the fashion faux paus fom your readers...I have done most of those!! Hope you and Chase are good, and are enjoying this beautiful Chrstmas season! Was it as hot up in LA as it was here in SD today? It hit 90 at my house. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your snipping skills with that dress-turned-top. The necklace looks so great against it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a classy look! I would have never guessed it was inexpensive. You look gorgeous! I love the bracelets too, by the way. I almost never wear jewelry at all. Every time I get jewelry, my son breaks it or my daughter steals it. :)
ReplyDeleteU always captive me with ur words...Love the color combination of the outfit...very well put together..love it..
ReplyDeletexoxo
Super cute!!<3
ReplyDeleteI hear you with the bracelets.
ReplyDeleteAh, Shade clothing... may it rest in peace.
Emily--this looks very classy. While my favorite touch is the heels, the skirt and the cropped dress look great together and surely church is one place that bangles WILL work.
ReplyDeleteYou never failed to amaze me with your brilliant remixing ideas! Great combo & super chic too!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I wondered if I was the only one who had such a hard time functioning while wearing bracelets! Thanks for the reassurance that I'm not as odd as I thought. :)
ReplyDeleteBib necklaces and floral necklaces really suits your perfectly! Bought one at H&M and I've yet to wear it!
ReplyDeletebesos,

20 YORK STREET
I would have never thought of putting all those items together. You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteI still regret not snagging one of those necklaces. I've seen it styled in so many fabulous ways...including your gorgeous look!
ReplyDeleteI can only really cope with bracelets if they're thin and on stretchy elastic. Anything chunky or loose enough to slide up and down just ends up really annoying me!
ReplyDeleteLove the simplicity of this outfit (I did think the skirt was capri pants in the first photo though!) and the updo really suits you.
Wow, you look SO good in this
ReplyDeleteI agree, bracelets make living difficult! They are really pretty though... ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd you look really sexy and elegant in this outfit, also love the hairdo!

ReplyDeletevdcouture
I don't know how your do it, but you always manage to make something as simple as a tee-shirt and skirt look so elegant. You look great!
ReplyDeletePretty pencil skirt!
ReplyDeleteƸ̵̡Óœ̵̨̄Æ·
On the other hand, bracelets are toddler magnets....if you like toddlers that is.
ReplyDeleteYou look absolutely adorable and gorgeous - love the colors and accessories you used!! AND love how you styled your hair :)
ReplyDeleteSmall Time Style
You look so ladylike and adorable for church! I like the bracelet addition, you should try cuffs then. Clamp em on and you forget they're there!
ReplyDeleteI'm weirded out by necklaces, I can never to seem them pair them with the right top. I stick to rings, watches, and bracelets. But I have serious necklace envy haha
I love your hair up, SO pretty!!! I am getting more into bracelets lately, I normally avoid them for the reasons you mentioned above
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the top + necklace together! your hair looks super cute like this :)
ReplyDeleteThe bracelets were a perfect finishing touch... you should wear them more often! Love the bright look of the outfit - everything feels so drab here because we are in the middle of a blizzard!
ReplyDeleteclassic! i love it!!
ReplyDeletep.s. would you be interested in guest posting on my blog?! message me -- kblair.s.mcleod (at)gmail.com
Perfection! Especially loving that necklace!
ReplyDeleteAHH! Love the Miley comment ;)
ReplyDelete*Dramatic gasp* YOU HAVE BRACLETS!!!!!!!!! Haha! Love the outfit! You look FAB in a bun!
the pink necklace is HOT
ReplyDeleteTwo words: fabric bracelets. I'm wearing one today (it's a fabric necklace wrapped around my wrist). Actually, I'm going to ad more words to include leather bracelets. I got a great one at Pike Place Market in Seattle for five bucks and it's so comfy.

Every time I wear a bracelet to work I end up taking it off -- it's just impossible to type with a big hunk of metal on your wrist!
ReplyDeleteI love that you are wearing pink and red together - so fun!
Chic on the Cheap
Oh that bun! I just want to pat it. I think I'll go grow my hair out now. Seriously, you've got a gorgeous little face.
ReplyDeleteYou look so incredibly chic in this outfit. Red is your color and I love seeing your hair up.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit is absolutely gorgeous and I am not completely convinced that I need a statement necklace in my life! I share your sentiments about bracelets and I was just thinking today that I should give them a chance.
ReplyDeleteAnthea,
Embracing Style
I love the colours today. I have never worn pink and red but after seeing this I might give it a try.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a lovely outfit! I agree I can't wear bracelets at all, I can barely wear a watch but... I tough it out :)
ReplyDeleteThis outfit looks very J Crew (which, is a huge huge compliment)!
ReplyDeleteYou put the cutest things together.
