Fact: I hate the wind. It messes up your hair, it throws your skirt up, it gets stuff in your eyes - it's basically a girl's worst enemy (besides a frenemy a la Paris Hilton...I don't get it).

I broke one of my rules - I wore like colors together!!! You don't understand...this is a BIG DEAL. I NEVER wear like colors together in accessories. I've done it with clothes but NEVER accessories!!!! CAPS!!!!!!!!!!! I wore pink earrings, a red belt, and purple shoes. I really like how it turned out with the little bits of pops of color. If you broke a style rule this past week, link up here!

This is me going "OMG!!! MY HAIR!!!!!!!!" in the wind.

I'm wearing JCPenney earrings (free with gift card), Gap turtleneck ($19), handmade skirt from a curtain ($2), secondhand Calvin Klein belt ($3), JCPenney heels (free with gift card), and JCPenney bag (free with gift card).

Go girl!!! Color up our life! :)
ReplyDeleteP.s: I'm like you i refuse to wear anything other than black or brown in the winter... :)

those heels are the bomb.
ReplyDeleteI love this bag SO MUCH! I may or may not be stalking my local JC Penney's for one for myself =)even though I should be buying for others right now!!
ReplyDeleteI really like your choice in accessories here. I'm not sure I would have thought to pair the purple heels with the red belt but I think it works. LOVE the pops of color.

You definitely pulled it off Elaine!
ReplyDeleteRule or not, I like the black turtle neck with THIS skirt!
ReplyDeleteI love the accessories. I also love this skirt every time I see it on you. I should really DIY myself one sometime if I ever come across a pretty curtain material. :)
ReplyDeleteWait, it's from a CURTAIN? After you said it I could totally see it, but it's so cute, it could totally be from Anthro!
ReplyDeleteAnd those shoes are utterly divine!
Love this outfit. You look so chic! The pops of red/purple/pink colors are perfect. Oh yeah, and total congrats on your new job!!
ReplyDeleteKristine. Or Polly
Wearing like colors is one of the rules that I am trying to break too...I do it occasionally in clothes but like you have never done that for accessories. Except for maybe shoes and belt. I accessorize so infrequently because I am afraid it'll inevitably clash with something else. Great job!

You are the epitome of class.
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit! :)

You always make me laugh!
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt, I can't believe it's made from a curtain! The black turtleneck makes you look so prim and proper. The red belt was a good call, you look lovely.
Love this rule-breaking that's going on over here, keeping things interesting! I do that all the time, though, wear like colours together... It's not always easy but when it looks good it looks REALLY good. Like you.

Wind is the absolute worst enemy! I especially when I wear my hair down, apply lip gloss, then walk outside to an insanely windy day...
ReplyDeleteI think your hair still looks great, even if it was windy. Mine would have fallen completely out haha. Love this outfit. And psh, rules are meant to be broken (well.. most fashion ones are anyway... :P)
ReplyDeleteHaha, keep braking those rules. I hate the rain; ugh. Gets you all wet, especially when it's just raining a bit.
ReplyDeleteYour outfit is sooo pretty! :D Haha I love that hair picture XD
ReplyDeleteand yes...the wind is GARBAGE! Especially if you have a dress/skirt on, ha ha

ReplyDeletei love how sleek you look here! the turtleneck and hair are perfect together.
ReplyDeletei wish i could pinpoint more of my "rules" like you can! then i'd be breaking them as much as possible!
I absolutely love that skirt. So many other bloggers would have worn it short and full, but the full cut and longer hem is AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! You are such a lady!
ReplyDeleteOhh this outfit is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI love the little bursts of colour
I hate wind as much as a fat kid hates running.

Wow, I love this outfit to the core. The purple/red, the patterned skirt -- it's so festive and fun. I'm also loving your ballerina bun -- what a great remedy for wind-swept hair moments.
ReplyDeleteA gorgeous skirt from a curtain? How very Scarlett O'Hara of you!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, as always, m'dear!
absolutely LOVE your shoes! :) ...I like that you broke your own rule lol ...looks good.
ReplyDeleteQuiet the fearless rule breaker, aren't you? I love the like color accessories! They're fun and different, and I love the pop of red against the skirt. Loving the hair, as well. Don't blow away in the crazy wind!
ReplyDeleteThe pops of color added in make this look. I love it, classic but still your own!
ReplyDeletethis is such a refreshing look! i've always seen your hair down.
ReplyDeletei think ammana think of my own style rules.
Very cute! I acutally like the wind for pictures! I let my hair fly around and it looks neat! :) However, I don't like it for walking in! YUCK! Plus it gets crazy cold where I live!

ReplyDeleteyour hair looks perfect!
ReplyDeleteJust Better Together
Hahahah xD I cracked up... your hair wouldn't mess up anyways in that bun, but that was soo cute!
ReplyDeleteBtw, by like accessories do you mean like similar colors? Or you never wear the SAME color accessories, because red, pink and purple are different colors... I didn't really understand that
Bellesme
Those heels are amazing!! I love the matching accessories! You should "break rules" more often!
ReplyDeleteI love everything about this outfit. You look so great in a turtleneck and a bun! I have a question about modesty for you-what about form-fitting clothing? I'm just trying to figure out the line between modest and dowdy.

ReplyDeleteThat's interesting... I used to do that all the time when I was younger (like colored clothes AND accessories), then I moved on and thought that was lame. I like your hair (looks like the wind didn't mess it up too much) and the pattern of your skirt!
