I wore this on Friday but didn't have time to post it because Chaser and I were packing and getting ready to leave for Sac-town....and we're here!!!!!!! Longest 6 hours ever. I love the guy and all but when he listens to Harry Connick, Jr., I'm like "who are you?" (He's my boyfriend, duh. My 5 year-old niece gets sooo annoyed when I call Chase my boyfriend. She's all "He's NOT your boyfriend. He's your HUSBAND!!" Then I tell her he's my boyfriend and my husband and that confuses her cute little mind even more. So back to the outfit..)

Anyway, this past Friday was my last day at my job....because I got a NEW ONE!!!!!!!!!! HOLLA!!!!!!!!!!! (I don't use the word "holla" in real life but I thought it fit in this context.) It's a salary-paying-with-benefits job...like better than what Chase would make after he graduates. I'm officially a grown-up. The best part about that job is it has NOTHING to do with what I graduated with: political science. Blegh. I'll tell you more about it later. Maybe.

Okay, seriously, back to the outfit. I wore this all buttoned up and prim and proper in the morning. But then I didn't like how it was loose-fitting so I unbuttoned it and lowered my necklaces and I like it a lot better (see below). Also, those are TWO necklaces. You like? I love it. It gives you double bling.

If you haven't yet, you still have four days to enter to win this Mulberry-inspired bag! I suggest you do as many entries as you can because there are over 1,000 entries.... I know. I'm a big deal.

I'm wearing an Edelweiss by Sarah jacket (courtesy of Edelweiss by Sarah), thrifted Gap shirt ($4), JCPenney rhinestone necklace (free with gift card), JCPenney cluster necklace (free with gift card), secondhand BDG jeans ($17), JCPenney heels (free with gift card), and JCPenney bag (free with gift card).

I like it all buttoned-up. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually love the pairing of different denim colors too.
Love this casual Friday look. And congrats on the new job! Being an adult with a salary and benefits is awesome isn't it..../end sarcasm :0) Oh and I forgot about paying bills.
ReplyDeleteI actually like the buttoned-up version better (although I like both!). The heels are adorable, too!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work on your blog. I love checking it every day!

That necklace just made my life complete!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the job!! (Also, I love that jacket - looks so snuggly :o] )
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new job! That's super exciting.
ReplyDeleteNew job! Two Necklaces! Harry Connick Jr! Best post ever? possibly so.
ReplyDeleteLove that brown sweater thing, too. But not as much as your new, lovely sounding job.
So funny with the double bling. Congrats on the job and good luck.
ReplyDeleteooohhh, congrats on the job! yeah, so after commenting here i'll go in a corner and sob :))
ReplyDeleteWooHoo for the new job!!! Also, that necklace is stunning! I love that you paired it with the denim shirt.
ReplyDeleteNo Guilt fashion
Many congrats! I can't wait to hear the details on the new job. You're looking fabulous in your denim shirt and glam necklace!
ReplyDeletei call my husband my boyfriend too! and when people tell me he's not my boyfiend, i tell them that yes, in fact he is. he's my ETERNAL boyfriend! :)
ReplyDeletecongrats on the new job, that is very very exciting!!
I couldn't even tell that it was a double necklace! I like it buttoned and unbuttoned. It just depends on which attitude you want to have for the day. Either way, I love it. Did I mention that I love it?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the job! So exciting :-D Fabulous necklace and coat.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS ON THE NEW JOB<3! I can't wait to hear all about it! I am absolutely in love with this outfit! Your necklace layering is genius! You look amazing with your hair up in a high bun like that too :)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo - congrats on your new job! (I don't say woohoo IRL either but you had set a precedent that I thought I would follow).
ReplyDeleteLoving the double necklaces with the denim shirt - a great contrast and way to make it feel more special. You, as always, rock.
Great outfit...we love this look

love this outfit! that sweater is awesome. also, i do like the double bling with the buttoned up shirt (: hope sac-town (sacremento maybe?) is great. and congrats on the new job!!
ReplyDeleteLove how you totally dress up the denim on denim with the fancy necklaces and colored pumps!! So pretty! Doubling up the necklaces is genius. And I think I like it both ways - all buttoned up and unbuttoned. All buttoned up, you look like a J.Crew model - unbuttoned you still look like a J.Crew model - just more relaxed :).
ReplyDeleteMy job for the past six years has nothing to do with either of my majors - history & foreign affairs. But it has paid me a good salary and benefits!! :)
And I meant to add a congratulations on your new job!! Congratulations, that is soooo awesome!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDenim craze... =P I actually really like how the necklaces were right under the collar, but I would go crazy and not be able to breathe, so I get how thats uncomfortable =)
ReplyDeleteI can totally imagine you going "hes my boyfriend AND my husband" and while she has this question mark on her face you walk away, thinking "MUAHAHAHH" xD
I know you aren't evil like that, but it sounded funny in my head.. =P

congrats! love the outfit! :)

I lovelovelove this outfit! SO much. The necklaces look amazing (I've been trying to layer necklaces lately because I love the look, but find none of mine really work together very well. Must fix this asap!) I like both ways (buttoned up tight & the looser laid back look!) - very cute!
ReplyDeletei just found my new favourite blog :x
ReplyDeleteyou are gorgeous !
Love this outfit!
ReplyDeleteYay! Congrats on the new job....new job means new clothes FOR the job. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your necklace and topknot! super cute :) xx
ReplyDeleteUm, you are kind of a big deal. Seriously.

oh i love this outfit!
ReplyDeletethe necklace and heels make such statement!
and i like your jacket a lot =)
This is one of my favorite outfits so far! (Actually, that's pretty much a lie because all of your outfits are my favorites and I can't be biased and just choose one) But this one because you make the whole denim on denim thing work. I actually like it prim and proper, but when you unbuttoned it and lowered the necklaces, it works even more, haha.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the job! :) And political science? That's one of my least favorite classes! Well, maybe because it's a lecture class and I hate lectures. I always fall asleep...

Just Like Judas
Congrats on the new job! Yay for income (and benefits)! And I really love this outfit. Definitely a favorite. Can't decide if I like the button up or button down better. The button up feels "fashionable" and the button down feels "stylish." Take your pick. They're both super adorable.
ReplyDeleteHey, congratulations on the job! That's fantastic.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this necklace with the denim shirt...totally awesome together:)

Congratulations on the new job! I'd love to hear more about it.
ReplyDeleteThis outfit: Great.
ReplyDeleteWow, congrats on your new job! :) Things are looking up for you Elaine!
Hooray for new jobs! I'm totally loving this look! You're rocking the denim on denim, and that necklace is totally blingin =P
ReplyDeleteOh I have always been a fan of denim on denim, and my dear you have mastered it! <33
ReplyDeleteOkay, I have to disagree with a lot of you...I like the necklace and UNbuttoned look best. The buttoned denim shirt with collar necklace looks a little too stuffy or something.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I think the unbuttoned look is sexy. I would maybe even wear the necklace a little higher with the unbuttoned collar so it falls right at the first button.
Are either of you from Sacramento? I grew up in Folsom.
Congrats on the new job!!!!! Love the outfit!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your "adult" job! :D I started my adult job a year ago and it's a lot better than going to school :p In my case, because I'd rather work than study :p
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new job!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new job! x
ReplyDeleteI like the necklace on looser.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new job! HOLLA fits very very well.
Boyfriend for life! One of my college professors has been married for 50 years she still calls her husband her boyfriend. I think it's cute :)
Just Better Together
That necklace is way too awesome. So sparkly and filled with wonder! Congrats on the new job, hope everything is as you wish it to be! :D
ReplyDeleteYou're in Sac-town? Whaaat?! I live like right by Sacramento. We should totally hang out.
ReplyDelete<3 Kali
I think this looks awesome all buttoned up with the necklace right at the collar AND looser. Look at that - two great options!
ReplyDeletecongrats on the new job!!!! holla! haha
ReplyDeleteMy wife still gets confused everytime I tell her I have a girlfriend--and of course it's her! She's never able to remember that. I agree with you on having the shirt unbuttoned and the necklaces lower--very attractive.
ReplyDeletePS - Woo-hoo to the job w/benefits!!! =)
ReplyDeleteYou look very pretty and congratulations on your new job :)
ReplyDelete"then I tell her he's my boyfriend and my husband"
ReplyDeleteI hope you know that you are seriously adorable.
I totally love the outfit, especially with the top slightly unbuttoned and the necklace pulled down! The other way is super awesome, too, though--the full button up with the hint of sparkle is so classy and unexpected (not that everything you wear isn't always 100% classy)!
congrats on the new job!!! the two necklaces look so good together.. great idea!!
ReplyDeletei love how you combine the necklaces, and denim on denim rocks! ;)
ReplyDeleteSeriously, you have the best style. How are you able to pull of any look and make it look so fabulous? Wish I had your eye for fashion.
ReplyDeletePlease tell more about your new job, you've got me curious!! Congrats!
Ah, congrats on the new gig! Super excited to hear updates. And really inspired to try a fancier necklace with denim - awesome contrast. :)

oh, congratulations on the big girl job! I also have a degree in Poli Sci (and Sociology)....and I work in human resources. I never wanted to do anything with law or politics, though, so I'm happy (I just liked the subject!)
ReplyDeleteLove that you still call your husband your boyfriend. Laughed out loud (cuz I never 'lol') about never saying holla in real life. So me.
ReplyDeletePretty pretty shoes. And pretty you!
Love your hair like that and your outfit- it all works so well ! xx
ReplyDeleteI really like this outfit! I love the way you wore the shirt buttoned all the way up and with the necklace! And your hairdo is so cute! I wish I could do my hair like that too!
ReplyDeletePS. Congratulations on your new job! :)

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the new job!
ReplyDeleteThat's such exciting news
Your outfit is lovely, I prefer the unbuttoned look slightly better, either way its pretty gorgeous
Those shoes are ridiculously beautiful!
LOVE what you are wearing. I think the layered necklaces looks good up there (closer to the collar) and I always love when you incorporate those shoes into your outfits :)
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit :) I just bought a jean shirt like that for $100 and I am so jealous yours was so cheap! lol
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Congrats on the job!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that necklace, very cute! Congrats on the new job, let's hope the same happens for me soon :D
