This maxi dress was one of my purchases a couple days ago at Forever 21. They were having a huge BOGO sale so this dress ended up being $5. Two things I learned about myself that day: 1) I hate BOGO sales because that means you HAVE to get something else and 99% of the time, the sales rack sucks, 2) I hate big department-like stores (but I already knew that. This just confirmed it.) I swear I was in there for two hours looking for another sale item so I can just go home!!! I am a fast shopper and two hours in one store was hell. But the frugal side of me wouldn't let me go home until I found something. (And I did. I got something for my nephew for Christmas. Seriously, SO adorable. I'm not going to tell you because my sister-in-law reads this and she might make a peep.. ;) LY!)

I'm wearing a SLiM Motif beanie (courtesy of SLiM Motif - her shop isn't open anymore but try convoing her because I seriously LOVE this hat!!), Forever 21 maxi dress ($5), thrifted Talbots blazer ($4), Old Navy belt ($10), and flats from the Philippines ($7).
Thanks to all you guys for your help last night on Twitter!! I ended up buying this drapey sweater, these man pants, a gold necklace, and two teacup mugs for me and Chase! And I still have $10 left!

I used to like shopping at Forever 21, but the one in parents town (San Bernardino, CA) moved into what was formerly a MACY'S! After that, Forever 21 and I just never quite got along... And a BOGO sale at that place... egad! But I love the dress and the sweater. Great find!
ReplyDeleteYou two look great! I can't believe you bought that much at Anthropologie and still have $10 left over.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to your outfit, mucho cute. :)

Hahaha, don't you hate that about bogo sales? It's like.. kay, I got one thing, now what to get, the rest sucks. D: D: heheee.
ReplyDeleteYour maxi dress is adorable!~ I love it with your bright pink hat. You look so cozy. :D
Have I ever told you your blog is my favorite fashion one of all? It is. Your style is part class, part high fashion, part approachable. 100% perfect.
ReplyDeleteBargain dress! I hate sales too, I can never find anything on the racks and when you do it's never in your size! It just gets me so frustrated I want to walk straight out of the shop!
ReplyDeleteL x
I want those pants!!! And now I think I may need to check out Forever 21, too. I've kind of been wanting a maxi dress, myself.
ReplyDeletedid i hear you right? were those your first purchases at anthro??? well, if they were, those are some mighty fine first purchases. i love those teacups. i haven't seen those at the store! gorgeous. and i totally agree with you about forever 21. you really have to gear up to be able to stand more than 20 minutes in there.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the thrifted blazer MAKES the outfit. Great find!
ReplyDeleteThat´s a pretty necklace and I want that drapey sweater! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the maxi dress! I used to be a big Forever 21 fan, but the one in our local mall is SO HUGE I almost have a panic attack when going in. I find that it's much more relaxing to shop at their online store.

I love Ur hat!

Foreve 21...*sigh* they don't have an outlet anywhere near were I live...I love their store! Mostly because the jewelry is so cheap!
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit! I'm in the process of making a beanie thats similair to this red one, only a different stitch and a dark grey. What do you think a reasonable price would be for a handmade beanie?

great finds at F21 and Anthro!! I personally love sifting through the racks at F21 but have no patience for thrift stores, lol. and I can't wait to see how you style your Anthro pieces!
ReplyDeletecuteandlittle.com
Glad you made the most out of your Anthro gift card. I actually have a really similar necklace to the one you got, but mine is gold and silver (and, confession: my friend bought it first, let me borrow it for a wedding, and I loved it so much, I went and bought same one. I am a bad friend, but at least I gave hers back!).
ReplyDeleteyay! love your first purchases! I think my sister got that cardi too and she wore it immediately 2 days in a row. Love the mens pants too - can't wait to see all the ways you'll wear it!

You made some great purchases, I only ever got to shop at F21 and Anthro when I visited the States and I really liked both stores!
ReplyDeletethat maxi skirt looks great on u!
ReplyDeleteUgh, forever 21 can be such a disaster! But I love the maxi dress. Makes me want to pull out one that I have stashed away for the summer and wear it in the winter!
ReplyDeletelove the "man pants"...are those like the "apartment pants" from that friend's episode where reese witherspoon played rachel's sister? ;)

I am so with you on the not-liking-department-stores thing. I about have a panic attack every time I go into the Macy's in Herald Square, any bloomingdales, and of course, Forever 21. Just give me my small thrift store and I'm perfectly content.
ReplyDeleteI like how you've done the belted blazer over the maxi. Very polished. I hope you were served by a sexy italian man at the restaurant too? :D

Ugh, trawling the sales rails can be so soul destroying, can't it? Well done on persevering!
ReplyDeleteThe maxi is fab and I love, love, love the beanie. What a glorious colour.
I know what you mean!!! I hate spending so much time in one store too, especially on a Saturday morning when at least 30 people are in front of me at the till!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, you look adorable with the beanie..the colour really suits you :)
Those teacups are soo cute!! I wish i could see how the dress was without you holding it, does it drag on the ground? Btw, it looks GREAT with that blazer!
ReplyDeleteBellesme
cute knit hat!

What fun purchases! I hate sales like that as well.
ReplyDeleteAlso, not going to lie... pictures of half eaten food is kinda gross to me...Unless it is pie. ;)
Love your buys and the outfit :D :D

First off..your adorable. You pull off those mens pants perfectly. How does one like me whom is 5'9 find me a pair to fit my giraffe legs??
ReplyDeleteJanika e.
Ravioli with pears sounds...interesting. I like your F21 dress and the "man pants".
ReplyDeleteCool finds. Love the maxi and that cardigan and trousers look like you'll style them up so well. Looking forward to seeing them worked into your wardrobe. Way to stretch the budget.
ReplyDeleteSounds like our shopping styles are similar, in and out, smash and grab style (except paying for stuff, obviously).
What Sarah said...plus funny! =)
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on how shopping at a place like F21 can be hellish. I avoid it at all costs, even though I miss out on amazing deals like $5 maxi dresses :)
ReplyDeleteI've almost given up on F21. I'm just too BIG for their freaking clothes! The dresses are barely long enough to be tunics on me, the stuff is too tight on my chest, and then it all falls apart. Booo. YAY for Anthro! I could tell without reading those were Anthropologie teacups =) I'd rather save up my money and fork it out on good clearance buys from Anthro. I figured this out after going through my closet and I now have a jumbo trash bag of clothes for my sister to have, pretty much all F21 and some brand new. Hahaha =)
ReplyDeleteLove the belter blazer and maxi combo...Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteWell, all the effort that went into buying this dress was definitely worth it, because it looks really good! And the Anthropologie spree seems to have been successful as well - that is one lovely necklace!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about BOGOs, I always end up with something that I don't even like. Looks like you scored some cute stuff though! Those pants are amazing.
ReplyDeleteOh I can't shop at a F21 store - I can't ever find anything! And I walked right into and then out of an Anthro this past weekend because the line for the register was all the way across the store - not doing that!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've got some great things at both stores though!
I love shopping at Forever 21...online. I hate the store here in my town, it's like a clothing jungle :/ I love the dress and beanie, very cool and casual. That food looks delicious still. I am trying to branch off into different foods :) Congrats on the Anthropologie purchases, the necklace is my favorite :)
ReplyDeletewow girl!! you are an AWESOME bargain shopper! you need to teach me how!!!
ReplyDeleteI really love this outfit on you! So chic! The hat is such a gorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you got so much stuff from Anthro and still have $10 left! I've been eyeing up that same sweater. I haven't bought anything yet from there (even though I love most of their clothes!). Cute pants also!
ReplyDeleteBetter Than a Milk Mustache
I love the maxidress outfit - at first, I thought it was a shot from a catalog! Glad the sale rack was awesome, too.
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit and the picks you tried on. Hope you bought them!
ReplyDeletehttp://themessenger-bag.blogspot.com
Love your maxi dress so much!
ReplyDeleteI like how this outfit looks like something atypical of what you'd usually wear-- this also makes me want to try out maxi skirts more! A very comfy chic look. :)
ReplyDeleteToast with Charmalade

The dress looks great with the blazer! And the pink hat adds just the right amount of colour.
ReplyDeleteI can't remember if I told you before but I love those shoes, they're really gorgeous.
Oooooo, I love your outfit! I really like how you belted the blazer... looks great with the dress.
ReplyDeleteHappy holidays!!!!!!!!!!
That thrifted blazer looks gorgeous with your new $5 maxi dress! I have often been frustrated and annoyed in F21 and as a result I haven't set foot in that store in about four years....
ReplyDeletei LOVE those troussers, they are amazing!!! and the drappy sweater is perfection too!
ReplyDeleteyou bought a lot of great things! i especially love the pants!
ReplyDeletei LOVE your anthro finds!!! those pants are kind of amazing... the maxi dress is super cute too! you are such a beauty!
ReplyDelete~selina
I loathe clothes shopping in the best of situations. I'm glad you survived.
ReplyDeleteGreat purchases! I can't wait to see the man pants in action!
ReplyDeleteI hate shopping at this time of year... I feel a breakdown coming up:)
I LOVE that Talbots blazer! $4?! Can't believe it.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! Love antropologie, and you picked out some nice items. Have a great holiday!
ReplyDeleteyou pull off the maxi dress so well! I'm so scared to try it because I'm so short.... :(
ReplyDeletehooray for first Anthro purchases!! I love being in the store, and their sale right now makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteNice purchases!!
Lorispeak
I have so much trouble shopping now, I feel your pain. Big stores or lame sale parameters are my kryptonite.
ReplyDeleteThat maxi dress is perfection
ReplyDeleteThose mugs are too cute. Hope you have a happy holiday!
ReplyDeleteyou look adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteWhich Anthro did you go to?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the Anthro purchases, very nice all around! And I totally feel you on the F21 situation, I gave up going to the store and just shop online where everything is laid out nice and neat and line-free!
ReplyDelete♥ Ripped Nylon ♥
I love F21! And I adore your adorable Anthro picks. You look great in long dresses!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Ravioli and pears? Yum.
I know exactly what you mean. I really don't like to shop. Unless I'm thrifting and I'm alone. 2 hours in one store would be horrible!
