Blog Crush: Kristine. Or Polly.

Thursday, December 09, 2010
You guys... I want this girl's style. And her body. And her long hair. And her wedding dress. Was that creepy enough for you? I'm creeping myself out. Go to her blog and tell me you're not obsessed. Really.

One word that describes you? Light. (Kind of like... a cheerful, easy-going, wispy cloud.)

What you love most about yourself? I really like my sense of humor! I have a pretty dry sense of humor. A lot of people don't understand it unless they've hung out with me a couple times, which results in me having to point out that the joke I was making was actually a joke... which is awkward, and hilarious. I've also been told that my voice and the way I talk is pretty flat and monotone, which I'm sure lends to that. Or maybe I'm just not funny at all...

How would you describe your style? This one is a super tough one because my style is always changing, and it also varies based on my mood. Usually when I get dressed or go shopping, I try to ask myself, "is there something quirky about this?" I usually like mixing things up a bit - I love putting different contradictory elements in my outfits, whether it be clashing patterns, bold colors that don't quite complement each other, or different aesthetics. I really like mixing feminine with masculine - for example, wearing ruffles or a floral dress with grungy lace up boots. Or wearing chandelier earrings with an army-inspired jacket. I think putting opposites together makes things a little more unpredictable, which is what I really like!

Biggest wardrobe splurge you made? Was it worth it? I just spent a pretty penny on eyeglasses from Paul Frank this weekend. I think eyeglasses are such a statement accessory. They add so much to an outfit - the particular frames I bought I think will add an extra amount of "quirkiness" to anything I wear! (Plus... they help me see. So that's good.)

Favorite recipe that never fails you? I've gotta be honest here- I'm not much of a cook :( I have never been very "domestic," although I am learning  a lot from my husband, Matt, who actually does most of the cooking. But I will say that I am an expert at stirring :) One recipe that is one of our favorites is for apple pie. I don't usually like apple pie, but my brother and sister-in-law developed the perfect recipe. The crumble is divine!
Dutch Apple Pie

Filling
5 1/2 cups fresh peeled and sliced apples (Honeycrisp and Fuji are recommended!)
1 tab. lemon juice
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 tab. flour
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Combine in large bowl.

Crumb Crust
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup flour
1 stick of butter, softened

Mix on low until crumbs form. Bake on 400 degrees for 45 minutes, covering with foil halfway through.
