My Poor Ear Holes

I think the fire escape pictures will be our go-to from now on. Too much hatin' on my nasty but magically-lit hallway.

I also got these earrings from JCPenney this past weekend. Yes, they are as heavy as they look. I'm going to have to change them into clip-ons if I want to keep my ear holes. I mean, the holes in my ears. I mean, my earring holes. Let's try this again:  I'm going to have to change them into clip-ons if I want to keep my ears.

These earrings are pretty fancypants, right? As I don't own a cocktail dress, I wore the next closest thing - my chambray shirt. I love the mix of casual and dressy. I wore my hair up (with this tutorial) because I didn't want people to miss my earrings since they're obviously not big enough.

  13. Just for the record, I liked your hallway. Not that I'm saying you need to switch back, this setting is fine too. I just don't know what the big fuss from others was :o)

  14. Gorgeous!
I think this is the perfect way to wear flash earrings. Toned down so they don't seem like you are trying too hard---which is how I feel when I wear big sparkly earrings. In fact, I have a pair of chandelier earrings that I think I will try with an outfit like this. Thanks for the inspiration!

  16. So cute! I love the earring, and your smile was so adorable in that picture, the one before it you looked like Anna maria perezdetagle (I think, whatever that girl in camprock2) I like how fancy the earring are but how do you change them to clip ons?Do you watch Seinfeld? Just wondering because your name is Elaine, and that was like the only Elaine I knew, and I really like that name, its pretty rare =)
Btw, thanks for actually reading and commenting on my blog, Im not sure what type of blogs you like to read, but that was really sweet of you and I appreciate it <3

  24. Are you sure you don't want to be one of those old ladies in a nursing home whos earlobes are stretched out down to her shoulders? I think that look is really going to be 'in' in 70 years, especially with all the people who put those gauges in the ears. :)

And I must say, I adore that bag - so gorgeous!

Sometimes after wearing heavy earrings, my ear holes begins to hurt near the end of the day.

  27. Hi Elaine,

Just sent an email to let you know that your blog is featured on a new modest clothing shopping site, Fashion Belle, and thought I'd put a post here, too. The site: http://fashionbelle.com/blogs

I'm with Bellesme and Linda W, above, wondering, how do you change pierced earrings into clip-ons?

Thanks for your fashion-forward posts. You give modesty a promising outlook.

  28. this is such a sweet outfit! you look darling. The earrings dont look heavy, but I can only imagine, pictures are misleading. How do you turn them into clip ons?

ps. to answer the question you left on my blog, the pictures are inside my new home. I live with my boyfriend now, so I'm in the midst of his bachelor pad until I move again. Oddly enough theres a portrait of me behind me in my photos!

  29. I like the bag, I've been looking for something like it. It's timeless. Cute outfit altogether. Thanks for sharinf the photos and visit me when you have time,

And I don't mind the window pictures, but they are harder to see your outfits in. But I think they are more artsy!

    And those earrings are amazing!

  37. My ears hurt just looking at those fab earrings! I think the chambray shirt makes the outfit still look put-together, without getting into "prissy"... which is a danger with such a sweet skirt.

I also think the fire escape is a very "fashiony" backdrop... there is some variation in the background without it overwhelming the subject (you). The touch of peeling paint is a great contrast to your well-maintained look.

I think I have watched too much "America's Next Top Model"!

  49. Sweet outfit. I pulled out my chambray shirt to wear this morning, but it was a no-go, lol. You look lovely, however. I hate it when my earrings are too heavy, I just wind up taking them off. Would love to see a tutorial if you do wind up making them clip-ons.

Hey I liked the hallway, but I think the light is better on the fire escape now that I've seen both. But hey! YOU'RE in CA! I'm sure there's no lack for modeling locales if you want variety.

  60. Cute pictures!

Don't you hate heavy earrings? I can only wear them for a few hours at a time because I feel like my ear lobes are going to tear/rip.

  63. Ear holes! Haha. I just saw your comment on Ally's blog talking about "knotty necklaces". That made me laugh... :)

I haven't been wearing earrings lately partly because I don't like showing my sideburns!! I like what you're wearing, though!

    ReplyDelete
  64. You look so pretty! Who are these people who write rude comments about your pictures?? Dislike. They always look great, pay them no mind.

This post reminds me I need a new chambray top...

  65. Love the whole outfit! The lighting is great on the fire escape 'cause you can really see your outfit and all it's great details, like those earrings. Love them! I have the same problem with my ears. I can't wear any hanging earrings at all. Have you heard of Lobe Wonder ear support patches? I haven't tried them but supposedly they stick to the back of your ear and give extra support, kind of like those stickers that go on the hole of a notebook page to keep it from tearing. I saw them in a store once and was intrigued but didn't buy them. Let me know if you try them!

  69. Another amazing outfit! You never disappoint. :) These photos on your fire escape are perfect. The natural light is awesome.

I adore your earrings. They are gorgeous. I buy most of my earrings from JC Penney because they have such fabulous earrings sale. I can only wear sterling silver and they have the BEST selection ever. :P

I hope you're having a great week. xo

And if it makes you feel any better, I loved your magically lite hallway too.. to many haters in this world. Spread a little love :)

    ReplyDelete
  75. wow, you are just beautiful. I love the mix of casual and elegant. And yes, though the hallway is magically lit, you can see the details of your outfits better on the fire escape (not that I was a hallway hater...in fact, I was unaware that there was a subversive hallway hater faction among your followers ;-).

But yes, you are stunning. And too bad the earrings are so heavy! But changing to clip ons sounds like a good solution!
