The Monday Blues

I can't believe it's already Monday.. Today is just one of those days where I wish there was a Mormon alternative to coffee. I just need something to keep me awake! Any suggestions? I've been doing push-ups. That's why I'm so buff.

This is me breaking the rules for church on Sunday. Chase and I were running late and this magically happened. I love it! I normally don't wear like-colors together but I love seeing the champagne blouse with the white lace belt.

I think it's safe to say I'm obsessed with these purple heels. They match with everything and they are super-duper comfy. The soles are also already eroding. Sad face. I'm this close to buying another pair or five.

I really LOVE this look. I've been trying to be more risk taking in my pattern clashing and now you're using like colors again!! Either way love the look and will continue my further clashing and matching.

i can't say that i've ever tried this myself, but i've heard from a nutritionist & relatives that a handful of almonds gives a nice energy boost.

I'm so happy you found a really comfortable heel!

I love that. I think a colorful belt would have distracted from the interesting details of the blouse and skirt. The white is really the perfect combo.

I always break out the yoga when I need a pick me up - shoulderstand FTW! Apparently being inverted makes all the blood rush to your head and that makes you feel more awake.

This outfit is wonderful - it is like perfect 50's chic! And the lace belt just makes the color of the shoes pop more. Love it!

Do Mormons not drink coffee? (I much prefer tea, because I think coffeee--though it can smell good--tastes rather disgusting)

Cute lil' bow! I'm a sucker for those. About coffee alternatives: Try a smoothie! Frozen strawberries, orange juice, and plain yogurt is one of my favorite yet underused concoctions. Tons of protein, no white sugar, and about 3 servings of fruit in it! It's a wonderful alternative to caffeine.

Krust said...

I always drink tea in the morning. Not sure if that's considered the same as coffee for you. Or a Hot Chocolate int he morning is a nice treat. I love hot drinks in the morning.
Love your skirt here. Can't believe that was only $10. Great find.

gorgeous outfit.

i second the pero suggestion or celestial seasonings roastaroma (with milk and honey) for a coffee taste, and dark dark chocolate for the afternoon pick-me-up. combining the two is even better (dark melty chocolate in mouth while drinking roastaroma ... yum).

Re: Mormon coffee alternative- have you tried those "5-hour energy shots? I don't think they have caffeine and work wonderfully. It got me through my wedding, when I had next to no sleep because I was too keyed up.

Re: eroding shoes- can you get them resoled? Check with a good shoe repair place, they can often work wonders.

I've been a lurker for a while, but I've really enjoyed your blog.

I love those shoes!

I am a coffee junkie, but I had a boss that was mormon, and he usually ate a serving of almonds or a piece of fruit in between meals, and he was one of the most energetic people I've ever known! (maybe he just prioritized sleep better than the rest of us, though). Sometimes a quick walk helps me get through really rough afternoons- just getting the blood pumping seems to help :)

As an architecture student I have been in search of the perfect coffee alternative. Here's what I do:

1. Don't eat refined sugar, you will just crash. Fruit is good, especially apples!

2. Ice water

3. Mate. I like Guayki bottled mate. It's an herbal type tea, all the saints in South America drink it. It does have a pick-me up in it, like caffeine, but its chemically different from caffeine, it doesn't make you jittery it's more like a calm happy energy. I swear by it. It might be one of those gray areas, but I can tell you it's a heck of a lot better than addiction to sodas.

4. Don't eat heavy meals during the day, the digestion process makes you sleepy. It's better to eat light during the day, and have a bigger meal at night.

this IS magic! So glad it happened. I love the pairing! Have you tried a quick jog in the morning? Exercise totally wakes me up.

I just love this outfit... every single piece! =) Your style seems to have evolved more lately... unless it is just me being more observant lately. I love it though... that wasn't a negative thing. I always enjoy stopping by and seeing what you have put together.

Coffee? Psh! Try Pero! It's just ground up barley so it's actually really healthy for you! If you just drink it with water then it's not very good, but i put honey and milk in it and it's really good! My whole family calls it Mormon Coffee!
