It's all about the free bling.

Sooo... We didn't end up going to the Korean spa today. Chase's dad is here visiting us for a few days and we didn't want to make things awkward for him....or us. But we are going next weekend so I will make sure to give you a detailed report minus the nakeys.

Over the summer, I won a $1,500 JCPenney gift card through a giveaway hosted by College Fashion...which is how I've been getting a lot of JCPenney items for free. Um, YES - I was totally ecstatic when I found out...and then I realized it's JCPenney. Their merchandise is overpriced and of cheap quality as are all department stores' minus the ritzy ones. So we decided to save our gift cards and buy a new couch....which we haven't done yet. Well, we went shopping today and I headed to Penney's to see if they had anything I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear and I found this rhinestone necklace similar to this one. I'd never pay $20 for it but I would and did with imaginary money. The end.

I love how simple this outfit is. And I'm incredibly jealous of your giftcard win. I actually find really cute things at JCPenney's when they have sales...lots of cute skirts and dresses in the misses department, and big gaudy jewelry. I'm not afraid of cheap clothes if they look good! Haha. Usually I just take good care of them and they last me a long time!

I love that you wear men's Hanes V-necks too! They are ultra cozy and come in a 5-pack so I know that there are some peeps who wonder if I ever wash my clothes...... so pumped to see you like them too!

p.s. love the new bling.

Do not, I repeat, do NOT apply for a JCP credit card to get the discount on your couch! Darin and I learned that the hard way when we were newlyweds. I'm sure you are smarter than we were! :-)

Your hair is enviable!

Kudos to your photographer--in the 2nd to last picture it looks like you're floating because there's almost no shadow on the floor in front of you.

Congrats on winning that $1,500 gift card! I hope you find something worth buying. Maybe Black Friday? After Christmas sale?

I agree with you about the over priced part at JCPenny.

I love the classic look. And just so you know, i look at your blog evvvryday, but usually don't have the patience to wait for my computer to allow me to comment, but I think in my head what my comment would be, and then it's the end of it... and they're always super complimentary :)

Looks like life is good in CA :)

A basic but very cute look! I'm not a big fan of JCP either; now if it was a Macy's card, that would make all of the difference..

I love the mixture of white-tee-slouchy-jeans/necklace-colorful-heels! It looks so casual but stylish, too.

I love how the necklace and heels dress up this outfit! Very cute. I think buying a couch from JCP is smart, I can never find any cute clothes there either, although you've seemed to have good luck with the things you've found there.

WOW! That is quite the gift card! My husband and I would probably use it to buy a couch too. Or maybe a table. Clearly we are lacking in the furniture department.

JCP Rocks! said...

Wow, $1500!  That will get you a lot @ JCP, their prices are really great, and they have sales all the time!  I'm curious as to why you'd enter a giveaway for a gift card to a store you'd be "embarrassed" at which to shop.  Too bad someone who would have appreciated it didn't win.

Elaine Hearn said...

Yes I did get a lot from there with that gift card. I never said I was embarrassed by their store. I simply meant there were items they carried that I wouldn't ever wear. Also I won this gift card during a time my husband and I were unemployed so I don't know why you would think I didn't appreciate it. perhaps it was because you were too busy judging me.

JCP Rocks! said...

"Their merchandise is overpriced and of cheap quality" ,  "I headed to Penney's to see if they had anything I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear".

Not judging, just put off by your comments.

Elaine Hearn said...

To each their own.

Another JCP supporter said...

I have to agree with "JCP rocks." Their full-price prices might be a bit much, but there is never a reason to buy something there full price with all their sales and coupons. I've never had a quality issue with their clothing either.

Efitz said...

psht, you just misinterpreted what she wrote. and JCP pretty much sucks, so there!

Kelly said...

I have to agree...for me anyway, JCP clothes are poorly cut and don't fit well.  Plus, the sale items I tend to not be interested in and the other clothes are way overpriced for the level of quality.  They do have MNG by Mango, which is something, but the JCP in my area doesn't even carry that line!

Cortney said...

I'm just so confused as to how you think she was "judging" you when she was simply going off of your own comments- you said "I was totally ecstatic when I found out...and then I realized it's
JCPenney. Their merchandise is overpriced and of cheap quality". I, too, would have interpreted that as being negative. You have the right to your own opinion, but when someone asks you about it and you basically call them out for quoting your own words back to you, it's pretty confusing. Why so defensive?

Elaine said...

I am defensive because she labelled me as being unappreciative of the gift card winnings when in fact I was the opposite. Even though JCPenney is full of overpriced and cheap quality goods, I can still appreciate a free shopping spree.

Saryeuab said...

Wow on top of being all 'I'm better than you because I'm a mormon' you're also pretty dumb.
