Military and Lace

With my new job, I needed to figure out when to take my outfit pictures. By the time I get home it's dark and then I have to clean the house and feed my husband or something. So now I have to be a morning person.

We did get our remote from Hong Kong and just as I figured, it stopped working after a couple days. Luckily, my father-in-law brought us a new tripod while they were visiting this past weekend. He must be secretly reading my blog... (Hi!!)

I have a hard time styling dresses. Really all you can do is belt it, possibly cardigan it, and add some jewelry. I don't have a lot of belts, cardigans, or jewelry. So I layered. I got this lace belt (and another that you'll see in a couple of days) from Fay. She was so sweet and sent them to me as a little gift!! I just got around to wearing them because I had to take it in a little for them to fit at my waist. The belt is wide as you can see and the white and green felt unfinished. I layered the yellow ribbon over it and I love how it looks! This is probably one of my favorite outfits.

I have the same problem of not having a good time to take outfit photos because of my work hours.

As for dresses, there are so many ways you can wear them! you could layer a boyfriend blazer over top, a t-shirt, a sweater, a vest, shorter dresses can be layered over pants. It also helps if you can buy a couple different styles of different dresses (drop waist, shirt dress, empire waist, knit etc) so that you can mix things up.

Congrats on your new job. Love the lace belt, anythign lace is good in my books!

I love that dress. I am loving all things military right now. That lace really adds some fun to it.

I recently broke out my tripod for outfit pics. However, I didn't have a good remote. (it only worked like next to the camera. useless)
so, I just ordered another. I hope it works better that the last :/
I love the morning light in your photos here. Wish I had the commitment to wake up early enough.

Love the belt! I like how you combined two of the most popular trends right now into one look - military and lace isn't something most people would pair together :)

I love the dress, it's adorable.
With button down dresses, you can layer it unbuttoned over another dress. So now you've got another way to style it :)

Chic on the Cheap

I really like the military green color! I think I have way too many belts but rarely use all of them actually. I probably just use one over and over. It's nice to get something lacey like that as a gift. Getting something new always makes me want to wear it a lot. A lot of fashion bloggers are not happy about the sky getting dark after they get home from work, so I hope you get the hang of taking pics in the morning!

so cute! I had the same problem with the remote - completly died after I bought it!
