Either Belt It or Belt It

Monday, October 04, 2010
I've worn this a few times but never got the chance to photograph it because you know...I fired my husband....although we did agree on nights and weekends only. Wait, those were the terms before I fired him... So the few times I have worn this, I have changed it up a bit. This version is belted.

This is also belted...but UNDER the cardigan! Yes, I live on the wild side. I have a thing about wearing a different outfit every day. I don't always photograph them but something is always different...like the shoes or belt...or in this case, layers. If it's not different enough, I usually won't post it because I want to seem new and exciting. (I'm not.)

Wearing secondhand F21 cardigan ($5), Gap dress ($8), thrifted belt ($1), and F21 flats ($5).

  1. I do that too! A little switch and it's a new outfit. Plus that belt stands out well against the dress and cardigan. =)

  2. I <3 both ways, but belting on the outside is def. my favorite. :)

  3. haha your comment rule is hilarious!

don't u just love living on the wild side?

  5. you're so pretty elaine! i love you you remix your outfits using the same articles of clothing...i need to learn to do that better :)

  6. Aww..I really like the first look! I love how the shoes pick up the color of the belt. And the simpple dress looks so sophisticated that way.

  7. I love the remix because, even though it's the same thing, it looks like two totally different outfits. I really like the tan leather against the navy. I never would pair it together myself without having seen it on you.

  8. I love it both ways! Though I think I may love the first look the best :) I love how you style/tie belts - can you do a tutorial on that for some post?

  12. LOVE this look and that belt! Holy Schmoly girl, you can WEAR clothes. Love the post about you and your blogger friend. Isn't that just so fun getting to meet up in REAL LIFE?!

  13. I like them both! This title reminds me of a scene in The Devil Wears Prada! It made me laugh!

  14. Sneaky! I love that you wore that outfit in 2 different (yet very similar!) ways :)

  15. it seems more casual to belt just the dress. you have such a tiny waist! if i had your waist i would belt a lot more of my clothes!

  16. Cute! I think I like it belted over the cardigan, but its cute both ways, just different. The belted dress with slouchy cardigan is more "laid back" were as the belted cardigan is more formal.

  18. SO CUTE! Looks like you could be dancing :)

  19. I prefer it on the outside :) but I like that just a belt can throw a whole outfit up.

(Not throw it up.... that sounds gross, but change the entire look of it. You know what I mean :) )

The point is. I like it.

  20. Your hair looks great! I like the belt over the cardigan ^_^

  21. It´s always great to see you wrapping that belt around your waist, Elaine. This time though, i´d have suggested to sport a brown or tan cardy...black on blue is just too hard a contrast in my eyes...anyway, looking fly as ever :)

    Cheers,

  24. I think I like the belt over the dress/cardigan more. I'm sorry that you've fired your husband as your photographer. My fiance is terrible at that job. He snaps 3 pics when I'm not even ready and calls it a day. Pew!

  40. i like the knotting of the belt. it looks great!

  41. Belt on the outside all the way! Having it on the inside would cause the cardigan to cover it up, hide your shape, and otherwise create a definite yawnsville moment.

    ;)

Just recently discovered your blog and loving what I see. Keep it up!

    :)

  43. Love the belt on top of the cardigan!! So slimming!

    ReplyDelete
  44. i love it both ways and i love the way how u knot ur belt.

    ReplyDelete
  45. you are seriously adorable. I like the belt both ways (I do this too, but on the same day. I usually start out with the belt on the outside of the cardi, but if it gets warm I'll move the belt so I can easily slip my cardigan on and off).

    ReplyDelete
  46. Before I started the blog I would have never thought to belt my cardigans, and now, I've practically forgotten what it's like not to!
