What I wore...running errands

Tuesday, September 07, 2010
Some of you have asked to see our studio apartment - here it is. This is all of it. You think I'm kidding but I told you it was teeny tiny. My husband sleeps on the floor and I get the couch. Okay, that part I'm kind-of kidding about - this is our "sitting corner" because the TV doesn't work. And it's not big enough to be called the living room.

I wore this a few weeks ago when we went to Walmart. NEVER again. Walmart in Los Angeles is sooooo different from Walmart in Salt Lake. We've switched to online shopping for our groceries. I wish. I probably should've worn skinny jeans so as to touch the floor as little as possible. But I love how long my legs look in these!

  3. Great tiny living room. Your outfit is so pretty, I love when you wear these jeans. Our place is also small Elaine, once we move I'll show you some pictures. Now, I'm getting inspired by Apartment Therapy, well, I'm addicted to it, haha. Xoxo, Larysse

  7. Your apartment may be teeny but it sure is beautiful! I love your furniture! I can't wait to have my own place so I can decorate how I like. I mean, if I have money at that point. Which I probably won't.

Walmart is pretty nasty wherever you go, and I can only imagine the walmart near USC not being one of the better ones. yuck! Aaand those pants make your legs go on forever!!

  10. Walmarts. When I lived in KC, I would go to a super walmart. It wasn't bad but it definitely had its own flavor. Surprisingly, the Walmart in the next county over was scary though. I do like your pants btw.

  16. I really like the way you've styled the wide leg jeans, they look great on you. And your apartment looks really cute and well organized, despite the tiny space!

  17. tiny or not, your apartment looks so clean and inviting! and you look so cute and casual. i know what you mean, the walmart here is so gross; not necessarily the building, but the people. wish i could do online grocery shopping, how convenient! i love that scarf, too :D

  22. Yeah, I probably should've warned you about the WalMart situation in these parts. It's not great. I have some grocery store tips that I've learned over the years if you want them. Just email me.

  24. Your studio may not be HUGE but the floors are stunning and the light you get is truly beautiful!

  25. Even on different sides of town, Wal-Mart is so different! One is completely sketchy and the other is nice. I swear, there's no middle ground with that store!

You know I love you in those jeans. Your legs really do look killer!

  26. Love your sitting corner and those flares make your legs look magically long.

  27. Ohh, those jeans make your legs look amazing! :D So very cute on you! I'm sorry your Wallyworld shopping experience was not as pleasant as it could have been, it can get really bad sometimes, huh? :( On the bright side, your studio looks awesome. Very clean and there's lots of light which is great! :)

  32. I am guessing it is GROSS there. Use coupons when you grocery shop if you don't already:) you can even print them online using the "coupon-printer" (I always print on black in and the back on a sheet of scratch paper.)

    I use these two websites:

Don't even get me started about Walmarts...they scare me.

  39. When I found you blog and found what it was about I was so excited. It is so hard to find modest fashionable clothing!! especially skirts and dresses. I followed :)

  40. Girl, I call Walmart the MACHINE. As much as I hate, I have to get stuff from there. They have the monolopy in everything. You can buy groceries, get a rotisserie chicken, get your prescription filled and your tires changed all while sitting at the indoor Mcdonald's.

I do love those wide legged pants too. I will be really elated when I can fit mine again!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Was it the Wal-Mart on Crenshaw????!!!! If so, I understand. I went there last week and felt so out of place. I assure you, Target is much better.

  43. You've done the apartment up so well-it doesn't look teeny-tiny :) And I love the previous look with the Talbots blazer-shows that a well-tailored blazer will always pull a look together.

  44. At least a teeny apartment doesn't take much time to clean! :)

  45. Those jeans are awesome on you. Gotta love long legs.

Thanks for your comment. I totally agree about Audrey Hepburn and the classic black look. Maybe it's because black is a fallback (at least in my office) that it has come to be seen as safe rather than chic. Or maybe it's out of character for me. Whatever the reason, I believe it's chic, like you.

  46. You look so comfortable. I love the outfit, especially the jeans.

  50. Why do I never look this good in jeans and a t?!

We don't have Walmart over here, we have Asda which was bought by Walmart a few years ago. Asda sucks generally but you can pick up a few nice basic wardrobe bits. Are 'supermarket' clothes acceptable in the States? We seem to have embraced them over in the UK.

  72. So cute and casual. And oh, do show the rest! Of the apartment that is. I always wanted to live in a studio apartment. I have a strange fascination with small living spaces! Though it prob. isn't so fun in real life! Though it would be less room to clean I'm sure!

And you are right about the jeans: fantastic.
