The Sunday before Laundry Day

9/29/2010

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you may have heard that my husband's been fired as my outfit photographer. He's been super busy with school and comes home late every night...hence, the hallway and night pics. I'm hoping there aren't any hard feelings between us. I think he's already over it. I just bought a remote off ebay and we have a tripod so in theory this should work. But the remote is coming from Hong Kong and our tripod is missing a leg so probably not.

This skirt used to sit on my hips so I always need a belt to wear it. On Saturday night, I took the waistband in to sit at my waist. I love it. I've been wearing this skirt all week!!

I'm not gonna lie - I wore my polka-dot top that day because I needed to wear it one more time before throwing it in the laundry bin. I wear all my clothes a few times before washing it. It's bad for your clothes to wash it after every wear...except your jeans. Jeans never get dirty.

You look very nice with that skirt! I have a problem with my style pictures too because my photographer (My Hubby) goes out from work very late... so that's why I only take pictures of my outfits on the weekends...

LOve your look! Taking it in is pure genius! Gives me inspiration for some of my pieces... thanks! Oh, and I HAVE to wash my jeans. They never get dirty ... but they do get so baggy!

The skirt looks fabulous like this-- great tailoring job! I always end up throwing in a few things to the laundry that could have gone a few more wears, so you are not alone.

I love how the skirt is so full. It's really flattering on you and your tiny waist! I always take my own pictures... maybe I should look into a remote too!

Bex said...

Ha! I had to laugh. My jeans do get dirty. And baggy, like Sydney said. But I can get 2-3 wears in usually!

Lol, good to know we have the same philosophy when it comes to jeans. I probably wash them about every ... 2 months or so! I mean, I rotate them!

Hope you're enjoying living in L.A.!

i love this entire look..i really need to go shopping!

Very adorable look. I love the flounciness of the skirt with the ruched sleeves of your top.

Love your laundry philosophy. I agree completely. I wish I could get the hubs to follow along. He think stuff needs to be washed way more frequently than I do.

i just read a fascinating article in the wall street journal about a denim connoisseur who only bought very quality denim that he loved and then only washed them every six months to a year in a bathtub with very gentle handsoap. then laid flat to dry. i want to try it out, but i really can't afford "very quality" denim. perhaps it will work with "pretty good denim, but not as expensive as i would like denim, but way more expensive than my husband wants me to spend denim."

oo lovely, adorably-pretty outfit(I bet hubby approves:)!

If you guys lived in the deep South of New Orleans the extreme sweat of summer might make you wash your stuff more often. I feel gross sometimes in July just walking to my car from my front door.

That skirt makes you look SOOOOOOOO skinny (but not TOO skinny) You look fabulous!

You have made that skirt look awesome on you! I want: A Remote, A Tripod. Or a Photographer Husband. Or a couple of each (for backups).

I love this post! I take my photos myself for my Etsy shop and am absolutely no good at it. Yours are perfect...you wouldn't know they involved a tripod and little remote! I love the outfit also...especially those shoes!

Hehe sooo cute! And aww, I hope he took being fired okay ;)
and yea, I wait a few times before washing things and only wash my jeans when they need to get tightened a bit (or i spill something on them)

Love your skirt and oxfords!

I only have my husband take pictures on weekends when I'm not feeling shy. He makes me feel shy and I can't get the right feeling in pictures. When I save up enough money I want to buy a nice camera, tripod and remote too! But for now I just balance my camera on a stand >P

I love that full skirt on you! You always have the best silhouettes for your outfits.

My boyfriend hates taking photos of me. I should really invest in a tripod and a remote!

Nice outfit, j'adore the skirt a lot. Love the shoes, you look pretty as always. I take my own pictures, I use a tripod and a remote and sometimes when my hubby is around or my kids I ask them to take it for me I think my daughter takes good pictures too.

Also, your outfit is so killer. Love those tough shoes with that frilly, full skirt!

I love fixing skirts like that - it looks so much better now!!

and I don't like to wash clothes after one wear unless I must -- But I'm not always good about hanging them back up again after I've worn them and end up with piles of semi-dirty laundry all over the place.

Chic on the Cheap

Flora said...

I have to wash my clothes after each wear here, it's too hot not to. I air dry everything though, and that helps keep things in better shape. I own a pair of jeans that says "wash once every six months" on the tag. Didn't happen.

PS if you stick your jeans in the freezer for a bit, it kills the less-than-fresh scent.

Becca Crandall said...

wow i LOVED this outfit today. those shoes are to die for and the shirt looked so flirty and beautiful on you!

THIS IS SO ADORABLE AND CUTE AND I LITERALLY WAS LIKE OHMYGOSH HOW ADORABLE AND CUTE ARE YOUUUUUU when I saw it. Just like that. YEAH. I love those shoes and aaaaaaaaand your skirt is fluffy and AMAZING like rainclouds but less sad and more fluffy and cute. I love your necklace, too, and this is just all so wonderful!~ kyah. <3

I wait usually a few times, too, before I wash things.. and I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I always thought it was strange that I did that. Unfortunately, since it gets so hot down hurr in the south and I get so sweaty, there are some things I must wash after each time. <3

loving the outfit! too cute!

annie said...

I like that top! I try to do the same thing too, wearing tops more than once, but it's much harder with a baby who gets your shirts all dirty!

And if you add all the husband and kids there's around 100. It's really crazy. I couldn't get a good picture, well because I haven't gotten it up yet.

Bre said...

Your outfit is adorable! I'm a sucker for polka dots. I'm in love with your skirt! What a good hubby for doing your outfit posts, he's not alone. I think every blogger's husband/boyfriend does it!

That's such an awesome necklace! congrats on the win! And this skirt looks great at your waist! I find all my skirts look better at my waist, otherwise it makes me look oddly straight-figured

Love the comment on washing! And love the outfit more. Seriously, this is utterly adorable. The shoes, the top, the necklace, the skirt... Pure perfection! Simple, but with fun little additions; the ruffling on the skirt, the sparkle from the necklace... Oh, and I'm totally with you! I always thought Land's End was for frumpy moms! Guess they decided it was time to change that?

Kimberellie said...

Wow wow wow do I ever LOVE this look. It is perfection top to bottom! LOVE the shoes. ADORE the skirt. Really, beautiful. And the photos are lovely. You are lovely.

And you are so right about laundry. I seriously own some articles of clothing that I have NEVER washed (yikes?). But they aren't dirty! sweaters and such...though one day I will wash them, on there one year birthdays maybe? Or now am I totally grossing you out? ;-)

Aww, welcome to the frustrating and difficult world of self timed/remote/tripod photos. I miss my photographer too, but alas, work and generally full schedules on both our parts make it impossible.

See as what I have commented earlier, the full skirt can never go wrong when you are the rightful owner...you can mix and match clothes without any glitches at all....

yeah I heard about that in twitter, I was like seriously??? hopefully you can get a photographer real soon...or you can always re-hire him...
